- This video was shot on 6/6/2023 and is my my solo climb and ski of Skywalker Couloir which is a route on South Arapaho Peak which sits at 13,400 ft. This climb and peak are in the Indian Peaks Wilderness and I approached from the Fourth of July Trailhead outside Nederland Colorado.
The climbing conditions were good with a solid refreeze the night before and the skiing was variable with the top section being very soft /rotten, the middle which sat in the shade pure ice, and the bottom some actual ripe corn once through some avalanche debris.
The hike to the base of the Couloir took me 1 hour and the climbing took 1.5 hours. In total It was ~3 hours to the summit and my descent was around 11am.
Overall this was an awesome ski mountaineering objective and an awesome line.
Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions about the climb

Good video. It's "A-rap-a-ho" not "Ap-a-ray-ho" I believe.
Like the Indian tribe that used to live in this region. They were forced to move to the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming in the 1800s.
Good to know 4th of July road is open. Let the fun begin
Great video, I really appreciate that you included all the timing information!
Thank you and when I was doing research couldn't find much timing info so hope this helps others.
Well done! I solo climbed and skied Skywalker also including the tunneling a cornice at the top.
Thank you and I'm glad I didn't have any cornice tunneling to do on this trip haha
What would this be like around the 1st of March?
This is a very steep and dangerous line that I would not touch until well into the spring thaw melt cycle and personally would not think about skiing Skywalker that early on a normal year. With that said each year, line, and even day are so different that in general think trying to comment on how a line will be in the future is never possible or advised.
I hope this helps and that you have a great season! It'll be here before we know it
