Thanks for the review! I bought a bag very similar to this for my personal item for a trip to Japan. It was very helpful to see how much will actually fit in this bag!!!
Just found your channel! I’m busy finalizing plans for 16 days traveling around Europe with 2 of my kids. London, Paris, a couple places in Switzerland with our Girl Scout troop and then a week wandering through all the places I loved back when I lived in Germany. It’s been well over 30 years since I’ve been back.
I want to say it was less than 30 pounds. It wasn’t light but it wasn’t super heavy. I didn’t weigh it but usually my backpacks are 30 pounds (packed) or under. Thanks for watching 🥰
Thank you for this helpful review! Would love to see a video of you packing those cubes. What are your favorite packing cubes to maximize the space in the Underseat Pro backpack?
Thanks for watching! Honestly I like packing that backpack without any packing cubes. For me, I can open it up like a suitcase so its much easier to pack than this backpack.
Interesting. I have umpteen bags, packs, and suitcases but those wide-mouth ones always catch my eye. Not sure if I heard you right. It sounded as if you said 50 liters. My reaction was “No way. That looks more like 30 liters,” which is at the high end for personal items. I just got a G4Free 35 liter to try and fly as personal item only to Spain so I can be able to hop on a budget airline.
Hmmmm. The website product information claims this is a 50 liter capacity backpack. I’m not really familiar with liter measurements. I’ll have to go do the math to figure out the capacity now. Thanks for pointing that out! I don’t want to have something inaccurate in my video. Thanks for watching 🥰
I can’t find the 50 liter in their description but if you search for a 50-liter travel backpack on Amazon you can see the huge difference. Most people seem to use 26-30 (or even 35 in a squishy bag to fit in the sizers) for personal items. European (and especially budget airlines are very strict). Including for weight. 40-45 liters are ok for carryon. Maybe 50-55. The big difference is that if you don’t overfill soft sided bags you can often get by and meet the specific airlines’ requirements. One description I saw calls 50 liters “extra large.” Don’t want people to order a 55 liter bag or pack and think it will work for personal item.
How would you compare this bag to the Underseat Pro Backpack? I realize you haven’t used it yet but I’m talking about the overall construction, space, how it feels on your back, etc.
This bag is smaller than Underseat Pro so you wouldn't be able to pack as much. I feel Underseat has a slightly better quality, plus better organizational pockets. The materials the bags are made out of are the same type. If I am just packing for a few days, I feel this backpack would be fine. If I'm flying JetBlue or Allegiant, Underseat Pro backpack would be too large for the personal item dimensions where this Matein backpack fits. It feels about the same as Underseat Pro on my back. Again, since this backpack is smaller its not going to be as heavy or bulky carrying. The tradeoff for that is you can't pack as many clothes as underseat pro. Thanks for watching 🥰 Hope all that helped!
Good review, Courtney. I've used packing cubes for years but I just got my first set of compression packing cubes this week and plan on trying them out on our next trip. We are getting ready for our next tript to Mexico for 7 weeks during the winter and we're packing for the whole trip in carry-on bags. Should be interesting packing for this trip as we're going to Mexico City, Queretaro, & Guanajuato for a week each and Puerto Morelos for a month at the end so we have to pack for two different types of weather. I'll let you know how it goes.
Love this review! What bag do you usually bring for travel? I always think that travel is made easier when you have the best travel gear and essentials too. The bento bag from Nomad Lane is my best carry-on bag for travels like this. Thought I'd share it with you, too! Can you please do a review on the Bento Bag by Nomad Lane?
I keep going back to my underseat pro luggage for my most used bag! I am starting to expand out and try out more bags this year though. I have looked so many times at the bento bag! I have a hard time spending that much money on a bag, but it's been recommended so many times! I might just have to bite the bullet and get it.

Please do let me know! You have the most fun trips. I like taking laundry sheets to wash clothes with. I have faith you and Mrs. Smith can do it!
I can't wait to hear how it did for your husband's trip. It does look nice and sturdy!
Me too!! I have high hopes for this backpack!
Thanks for watching 🥰
Im flying with Avelo...14×9×9 is their size! Smallest personal itemI've seen!!!

Thanks for watching!

It looks like my daughter’s Anello backpack. She’s had it for 5 years and loves traveling with it. Are the zippers YKK brand?
