- I bought 5 highly rated underseat carryon luggages from Amazon. In this video, I review all of them and share the pros and cons of each and go over what I feel is the best.
For the “packing” test, this is what I packed into each bag: 1 pair of shorts, 1 pair of jeans, 2 shirts, 1 light sweater, 3 pairs of socks, 3 pairs of underwear, 1 pair of running shoes, 1 13 inch laptop, and 1 iPad.

For all the bags that don’t have enough padding to protect electronics, just fold a sweater toward the outside to provide your own padding.
A towel will work as well, in case you are traveling to a location that’s quite warm
I design electronics so I will disagree with this suggestion. Get a laptop sleeve... they are cheap, lightweight and offer even protection all around. They can also provide some anti-static benefits. Using sweater to wrap electronics is not ideal because of possible static-electricity this can create, which may lead to component damage or data loss.
@@_w_w_ good points. I was just thinking of padding it. Some sleeves are made in a modal fabric which takes no space.
@@_w_w_ great point. Usually I carry an iPad mini (lightweight) with a waterproof Lifeproof case to protect it, but I never thought of static.thanks for giving me some things to think about.

@@4tdaz I had a Travel Pro and it didn't fit in low cost airlines when they may jam in more seats per row.
@@_w_w_ Good point. However, I'm 6'1 and I myself don't fit on Spirit, so I don't even think about their under seats. I just remember my knees being up and my feet dangling b/c they smash the rows so close. My bad.
@@4tdazNow you are thinking. People that buy this luggage are flying low cost airlines and trying to avoid fees. This goes back to the logic behind my question and post.

Thanks for doing this. Years ago, my 3 year old grandson asked for a suitcase for Christmas I got him and his older sister under seat suitcases and packing cubes. At first their mother cried bloody murder because she didn’t want to juggle more suitcases, but realized she loved them. I’m now looking for one for my last of 5 grandkids so this was very helpful.

The big sacrifice of spinners is you lose internal volume. And its big. However if you dont need the volume and if you for sure are leaving under your seat, your feet will thank you with the extra room. As with everything. Its all about compromises and where you are willing to give up something
You just confirmed why not to buy an under the seat roller bag. I was considering it, but after watching your video, you confirmed there is not enough room for all the items I now carry in by large backpack. If you are packing clothes, then you would also pack toiletries. If you are packing electronics, then you would pack the cables. All the side pockets on these bags are not expandable enough for the bulk of these items. Also, if you were able to pack all the pockets to their capacity, it won't fit under the seat. Or worse, you can't get to pockets when you are sitting in your seat to reach and grab because you jam the bag in to get it to fit under the seat😂. I'm sticking with the backpack. Seriously, thanks for the review!
You make a valid point about traditional underseat rollers, and I can understand why they might not meet everyone's needs. However, I'd like to share my experience with my UNDERSEAT PRO foldable rolling suitcase.This suitcase has a distinct design that sets it apart from the bags reviewed on Jon's video. Its rectangular shape and clamshell style optimizes space and organization in a way that typical underseat bags don't. It features mesh pockets all around the inner lateral sides, allowing easy access to essentials such as snacks, charging cables, and wireless earphones without even taking the bag out. Moreover, it has a padded laptop pocket, big enough to fit up to a 17" laptop. As someone who prefers to travel light, I find that this suitcase offers enough space for a week's worth of clothes, electronics, cables, and more. Even fully packed, my suitcase fits snugly under the seat in front of me ( I travel Spirit, Frontier, Allegiant, and American Airlines). The fact that it folds down for easy storage when not in use is an added bonus!
I use a briggs and riley underseat roller bag plus a smaller backpack for all the electronics and my toiletry kit. The back pack rides on top of the cabin bag. Three weeks in Asia with just these two items and it turns out I was over packed!
Except the backpack gets heavy on my shoulders ….I carry backpack and these underseat rollers so the qbdkoack can go over the handle
not everyone wants to or can carry an under seat bag around an airport when you get older you'll know😊

Those 360 wheels take space away from the main compartment so less room for clothes.

would have liked to see that these bags actually fit underseat-they look too large to me and I don't want to be on the plane when i find out it doesn't fit. Otherwise nice review of the bags themselves.

Years ago, I bought a Samantha Brown under seater that unzips to a carryon. It is now my go to because I fly on Allegiant airlines, and personal items are still free.

Your video is excellent. I have the Travelpro Maxlite 5 under the seat piece you featured, however it did not fit under a seat on American or Southwest.
I love it still use it, but put it in overhead bin.

It would be good to have the empty weights of each of the bags too. Where I live you can only take 7kg as carry-on, being one bag plus a personal item, like a handbag or laptop, but all have to total no more than 7kg.
The outside pockets are good for putting in shoes .

I have a Samsonite underseat large size luggage that I've had for 8 years now. It has so many pockets and pouches many of which are detachable, it's insane. I used it mainly for overnight business trips and love it.
Does the travel pro's handle lock at the middle position or only at the fully extended position?

The coolife, the one you didn't call out in the end, is the one I'd probably buy (unless the travelpro was on firesale-- they make tough but professional looking gear!)
You know that middle padded section for computer/tablet? It's a bit dangerous. If you don't pack evenly, just he shown in his video, you could assert pressure points on the computer or tablet, this could lead to damages. The idea of using this section in the middle of the suitecase is good, because it allows more padding above and below it, but it will require even packing, so you don't create uneven pressure points onto your electronic devices.

Some airlines that say your under seat carry-on is a backpack. Are those rollers considered your 1 item? ITA air and Ryanair specifically.
Looks like some of the side pockets might be perfect for a pair of flip flops?

Most people cut them selves short by having too small of a personal item bag. Properly managed my personal bag holds about 1/3 the volume of my
roll-aboard. I have never been stoped on any flight, international or domestic. Love Laura

You need to include a toiletry kit to approximate real life. Nearly everyone includes one in their carry on luggage.
Your review on the bags and what they fit is fine; however, you don't talk about whether the bags fit under the seat of domestic or International airlines. Without that information, the review means very little.

something confusing is you are calling an underseat personal itema carry on.. You dont need a wholelot of prtection if you have it undre your seat. The first few bags have solid round tops whichlimits thins to fit.
Good review video but the camera movement is just too much.
For underseat bag/cabin bag. I think It should be be without the wheels..
From my experiences. I get stopped by the staff. The size is alright but the Weight is problem. Especially when the flight is full.
I bought 16inch. Hard cover. Hand carry bag. From aliexpress. Fly with laptop bag and one hand carry. Never had a problem. 😁.
I do prefer your later way of flying. Laptop bag and one hand carry and i have no problems either!

As a grown man, I could never see value in wheeling around an under-seat sized bag. I go with backpack options. Any advantages to a rolling case that I’m missing?
I'm 4'11", but I love OBT/Carry on only. If I get a backpack to carry what I need (comfortably) , the comfort mods are expensive. I'm told it looks odd as well (bag's big, I'm tiny). Sweat is real. if I'm dressed up at all, a roller is a must.
These are so small, wheeling them seems unnecessary if you are fairly healthy.
And can keep 15,6" laptop.
Im not travelling anywhere anytime soon. But im preparing for one day! Pray for me yall i want to travel 😭

In reviewing the last bag those straps work like I guesset so the front does not flop open and one of the other bags also has a guesset that doesn't allow the bag to flop all the way down if you choose to use it that way.
I'm a girl..and none of the bags work for all My stuff..however one of the Amazon Basics bag similar I own abs it's pretty good in comparison to these.

Same question here. I read comments on the Travelpro not only being too large by United's standards for an underseat item, but that it didn't fit under some other airline seats due to its thickness at 8.5".
Ok, but unhelpful without measurements. I realise plane sizes underfoot may differ, but they have tb general sizing for seats. Disappointing as I'm looking for this❣️

What pisses me off is that the "A" crowd that gets on the damn plane first, can and will stuff both bags in the overhead!!! And couples will take the window seat and aile seat in hopes no one will take the middle seat!!! YES, ONE ASSHOLE COUPLE DID BOTH ABOVE THINGS ON MY LAST TRIP...
Airlines really need to stop allowing people to bring wheeled luggage into the plane as carryons. Should be limited to a normal sized backpack and a normal sized purse for carryons.
