Very nice, I'm looking foward to seing new training missions. One question regarding DCS carrier ops, the "u" keybind does not exist in real life (if I'm not mistaken) so you need a flight deck crewman to attach the plane to the catapult and so I was wondering if ED has plans about making a "lively" carrier deck with real crew procedures ?
I really hate that comms voice on DCS! Sounds so robotic and LOUD! Is there a mod to make it more realistic? Nice to see new training missions incoming.
Is it true that you have to trim it manually befor takeoff? If so, what is the T/O Trim button for? Also: In a Podcast with a Hornet Pilot i heared that on the carrier deck you are only allowed to make turns in idle. Might be a bit much realism but if its true i think i could be mentioned.
yes you need to set the trim for your weight as Wags shows in the training lessons its the same for carrier or land based T/O only sets trim to 12 and you have to adjust accordingly
The T/O trim is default trim, it basicaly gives the correct trim value for when the fa18 is not very heavy (forgot the exact weight values), so this button is useful when you are in that margin of weight and are just to lazy to look at the mfd while adjusting your trim manually (simply click the button and you are done), anyhow you will need to manually trim your aircraft if you aren't in that weight margin or when you'll need to trim while flying (for a landing for example)
This is true, and there is a chart within the RL Hornet manual for Catapult setup.. TO TRIM centers all trims and sets stab 12 UP for an airfield takeoff.
For the Record, Aircraft 078 on the 1 Row is over the shot line for Cat 2. So technically You couldn't have shot off 2. Should have went to the waist! :P
Could you please tell us TWITCH or UA-cam streaming and also video recording settings for OBS or your suggestion please. I have frame drops only in DCS world capturings. ( Basicly, tried 2 monitors or 1 monitor setup for my side. When my cursor's clicked on OBS everthings OK, 60fps 1080p or 720p recording or streaming. BUT, when i click back to DCS world screen to control my aircraft, then my recording or streamin FPS dramaticly drops and reduces. 20fps 18fps or etc. Tried it also in Fullscreen or Nonfullscreen mode in DCS setup. By the way, when i go click to OBS everthing goes well my fps goes 60 again.. Could not find the solution :/
probably ALL busy being re-briefed on parking a Hornet forward on the St'b'd Row that has it's nose across the foul line - somehow during the cat stroke our jet missed it!
For people looking for answers why their hornet might not be able to launch from the catapult, remember to salute the ground crew, i was grounded for hours trying to figure out what the problem was 😅
I remember something about the catapult needing to be set according to the a/c weight, guess that's something coming in the future? Catapult control room/pod. Tbh, I don't mind having to skip that step right now. ;-)
When I take off the red gear handle beeps and I can’t gain altitude or speed and end up going into the water even when I’m on full afterburner with gear up and flaps up after launch
I've been playing the tutorials and doing quite well so I thought I'd take a shot at a single mission. Started out easy, carrier start and take off. I did everything (so I think I did) I'm supposed to, I launch off the cat, and even while at full afterburner after I raise my gear and flaps...I barely stay aloft. I'll have AB going for 2 mins and I'm lucky if I'm doing 200 kts lol. What's wrong? Any ideas?
Make sure to set your trim (flaps) in accordance with your weight (after arming/fueling) First open the Checklist to view weight, then the FCS page to set trim. 16/17 is a good start for "heavy"
proves that there are no restrictions (either on the stick in the cockpit) or on the control surfaces. Always better to discover them BEFORE getting airborne, sadly plenty of UA-cam vids of real cat shots where pilots find out AFTER launch that the controls no longer work as advertised. Of course the violence of the cat stroke has been known to break things as well......
Thanks! Weird to see the Hornet turn so tight without preliminary forward movement, though. Check out this video, it's apparently not that realistic: ua-cam.com/video/hlDdknkSNPU/v-deo.html - Could you please have the volume up? Those videos are still very low (also, we can barely hear the voice over the ATC).
@@Dcs-Brasil They can, but it still lets the damn ATC popup everytime you land or taxi. I just want to not have to deal with ANY automatic radio popups. Not needed in multiplayer
Please lower the volume or mute/turn off the radios when doing tutorial videos with voice overs in it.

@@MattWagner thank you matt, very cool
Is the F/A-1C the new plane?
No
DCS F/A-1C CONFIRMED!

why does it say set INS to CV and yours is at NAV?
Whats the purpose of anti skid during takeoff?
It worked, thank you. Quite a thrill!
Matt,
I believe that Hornet farthest towards the bow has violated the CAT 2 safety area? (If I am interpreting the deck lines properly)
you are correct
No because carriers will store their planes on tol of the catapults if they have a lot of pilots that day
The red & white lines are called Foul Lines - and yes your observation is correct.
I followed this exactly but my plane drops instead of nose up even though I set trim

Where are the yellow shirts/carrier crew?
Not implemented yet, coming later (maybe)

Also, does the DCS CV provide at least 10 knots excess endspeed? (Required to add 3 units more NU if it doesn't)
He saw my comment the old microphone is back :D
Maybe he just had a cold if so good to see you back in good shape :)

Make sure flaps are at half or full based on weight and set takeoff trim.
@@MattWagner gonna give it a try thanks
Still having the problem the jet doesn’t gain airspeed even and even on afterburner it stalls n crashes
Nice video
it will be good if they implement yellow jacket ground crew memeber to guide you to align with the catapult.
Wish granted

This is so weird. I have full throttle for minutes but the guy in yellow jacket is just waving, telling me to apply more thrust
You probably did not salute.
What purpose does "wiping" the controls serve?
Last control check before you are shot into the water potentially out of control.

Not supposed to launch in the raised position bro
Yep that’s exactly why it wasn’t launching 🫡

Would love to see a low fidelity model of the f18 in a flamming cliffes like module
Why?
@@VideokidACsatorna because I don't have time to leanr how to fly it, but still want to enjoy it like I do with the F15
@@MrRyuuzakiiii I see. Well I don't think there ever be a simplified version of the hornet, but we will see.
