Glad to see young people enjoying fishing. It’s something you can enjoy until you’re 90 years old, maybe even longer. It’s also a great way to appreciate nature and care of your environment.
Second video of yours i watched and I subscribed. Thanks for not trying to be too over the top dramatic like some youtube fishermen. Just good solid advice. You aren't trying to play anything up so your excitement when you hook a big one resonates. The hyperventilating when you catch something special is hilarious and relatable.
I appreciate that!
Good vid man just started fishing this year, started with lakes and ponds and got hooked on the DPR keep them videos coming
Nice! I always wanted to wade the Des Plaines River. I never imagined that it was full of Pike! What fun!
@@biosciencetech yes sir!
Lots of nice fish. I like your commentary on fishing as you go along.
Thanks for the DPR pike fishing videos! Cant find any on You tube. 1st time i floated the DPR i landed 7 pike! I was hooked!!! Been fishing it for like 5 years. Love it. So peaceful and the pike fight so hard its wonderful. Ive mainly fished lake county area but the water is soo low i might have to venture south a bit to find some good water.
Pearl white is dynamite!
Glad you enjoyed!
I can’t believe how well Des Plaines river has come back. I grew up fishing it in Lyons Illinois by the damn that they took out about 10 years ago now and was always told it was a dead river, only catching cats and carp. Haven’t fished it much as an adult, but your videos are making me want to take another stab at it. Now I live in Romeoville close to a nice stretch of the river that is popular with fishermen and have been wanting to try it again for some years now.
@@Maz08 stop hesitating . Get out! Thanks for watching
We fished in Lyons too since I was young, caught alot of carp and cats back then, im 58 now but haven't fished there since I was like 13 or 14, we fished off the wall or go across the street thru the woods and fish
Good fishing. Can't wait to get out there this year
We’re lucky to have your videos great tips
Ha, hey Ted! Hope all is well!
Great video, very scenic. Looks a lot like a river I fish often in SE WI.
Glad you enjoyed!
Thank you bro, great video! Just got into fishing during Covid and I love it. Going to the Des Plains this summer thanks to your video. I live 20 minutes away.
glad you enjoyed fam
It's great that the Des Plaines river has become such a good fishery.
Well now that the dam is gone we’re seeing more and more musky
@@apismellifera6545muskies where in the des Plaines?
'Great vid. The Des Plaines is an under-rated good time for kayak-fishing largemouths and pike. It can be a bit challenging to fish from the bank or in a deep-draft boat. I wouldn't eat anything out of there, but the activity is good.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching fam
I have been struggling on the DPR this year. I have dropped in multiple locations from independence grove down to Des Planes. I’m looking forward to the fall bite.
I dig the channel and will be tuning in. Thanks
Glad you enjoy fam! Good luck out there
wow, The Desplaines water quality has improved..Wonder where those pike spawn? Not a whole lot of weedy back waters to facilitate that
Brother ur kayak fishin, we know you ain’t doin it for clout 😂 we appreciate you, I gotta hit this spot now I’ve been after a pike for a minute now
Good watch! Just a suggestion but I usually grab pike behind their head when landing then and then by the the gills once landed. Grabbing them behind the head keeps your hands away from the teeth while the fish can still make a move in the water. I know you said you got a net and that would work well too!
yeah thank god I got the net . the fish grip cringe was real in this one but we pulled it out . the next vid should be a bit smoother . thanks for watching!
im hoping to get out on the des plaines river on a new kayak this summer - this looks amazing!
Enjoy
Good fishin’
Awesome video man. Nice pike.
I want a kayak so bad!! Need to fish these Chicagoland rivers soon!
You make really good stuff
Make me wanna get a kayak
Love that you're local
Good stuff. THX!
from 8:31-9:30 got you a new subscriber! great job!
For the fame!! Lmao. Great video..
Great video!! The DPR is such a good river, I have kayak, wade, shore fish. I'm a fan
got any good recommendation spots? I'm from the northern suburbs as well. Looking for some spots
@@mugen7628 tbh, i havent fished the DPR up north. Normally fished from North Riverside going south all the way to Joliet
What part of the Des Plaines River are you at that's a nice spot I usually go to the Des Plaines River right outside of Joliet in Rockdale Illinois by the Brandon Lock and Dam nice catfish right over the bridge
Tried wading this river this past weekend, sank about 2 feet into the mud! I’m sure it’s possible at certain stretches though.
Great video. Keep it up!
Great vids bro, I’ve seen you on FB too
Big things have small beginnings.
Let those fish wear themselves out, 2-4 mins and they won't be so hard to handle. Nice video.
Just subbed - do you ever fish the chain of lakes or McHenry dam? Liking the content!
Yes every now and again I make my way up there . Thanks for watching!
Hey man I’m a local fisherman and have never fished the dpr. Hopefully i can catch a Northern pike in the summer on the dpr
You got this fam
what's the nearest town you fish by the desplaines river? near me its not even an ankle deep
@michaeljacinto2228 it's shallow everywhere . In general, certain times of year can be dirt low . Just need to find the deeper pockets, and they're stacked up
Love fishing this river . Caught a largie today
Good stuff my guy!
Hey what stretch of river do u fish or like what is the closest town? The river looks much better where your at then me lol. Thanks and great vid
I fish all of the river from north to south it all produces for me . Just gotta move around and see what produces for u . Cover water don't sit around too much
Also thanks for watching!
We’re do you launch your kayak
Ever try the southern end of the river past Joliet?
Yup
@@suburbanangling all the same? Any dams you'd recommend to stay around? Thanks!
Great video
Thanks for watching 👀!
Looks like the the spoon river
Good fish where do you recommend I should launch my boat to fish for some pike
Wherever you want fam plenty of places to launch on dpr
Ive had way more luck when the river is super low. When its flooded I have no luck for any thing. Nice video. You got any tips for dpr pike fishing of the bank?
Bank fishing is all about covering ground . No bites in 15-30 mins move onto to the next deeper zone/logjam
Also when its flooded you just need to change up tactics cus the fish still gotta eat!
suburbanangling thanks man
Lyons and riverside by the police station swigging bridge.great spots
Can u please leave the full address
Ay I love your videos keep up the work everyone leave a like!!!!!
thanks for watching fam . I got more on the way!
Looking to get in to pike fishing is all the equipment the same as bass? Do they hit the same lures?
Yes pike eat pretty much anything that moves . But obviously you want to use something big enough to keep em pinned right . Chatters , spinners , paddle tails , and swimbaits all get it done . Jerkbaits too
nice one bro
Thanks homie 💯
I’ve tried the DPR with no luck. Any advice as to where I can shore fish it and have a chance at something?
You just got to cover ground fam . You can't fish the same spot for over 30 minutes and think cus its a river something will come around you eventually . Even tho its a river they don't constantly move they stay in comfortable areas . So just park at once fishy looking spot (deeper water + fallen trees) and work that area for a bit...nothing there? Ok move onto the next spot . Its best if you're not afraid to walk thru the woods to get to some unpressured shoreline
suburbanangling Thanks for the advice! I really appreciate it, and your channel. I’m not afraid to walk through much!
@@DrFrankensteam thanks for watching!
you ever try mallard lake?
Once or twice
Do you use a leader?
most of the time yea unless the lure i’m using is not leader friendly
Damn! What area of the dpr would you recommend
All of it has produced for me. Get out there!
where do you live by? anywhere near parkridge?
Close to there yes
Let's go kayak fishing one day! I am serious.
Try a spoon next time if you're trying for pike they'll eat anything but try a Johnson silver minnow or a casting spoon
where do you go on the river
Wherever I feel like that day
Subbed!
Thanks fam!
suburbanangling no problem! Glad to support the local homies!
how do you get back to your car after getting drifted away?
Uber most of the time or I get picked up...or I just paddle back to the car 🚗
@@suburbanangling do you just lock up your kayak or hide it?
@@nick1699 both depending on if have a lock or not lol
The river is the best when its low
Agreed
Is that depending on what you're fishing for?
@@greezyfbaby8391 in general easy to target fish when river is low
Bro what part of the des plaines is this
Africa 🌍
😂😂
dude a 35+ inch pike looked fucking musky size ate my bass yesterday on des plaines. pulled him all the way to my kayak saw what it was and literally fell into the river i was so excited. I wanted to get planted in my waiters. He got away :(
Hey man great content I fish the same area as you maybe we can share some spots I got some great spots I'm down here in Ottawa Lasalle Peru area
I fish down there sometimes . Some good stuff nearby
Im just starting my own UA-cam channel just messing around I'm sure you will recognize some spots
What area you in?
Well what area are u in ?
Just watch those gill plates
That net that you bought is key
You'll see it in the next video 😁
suburbanangling what net did you buy? I’m looking for one for the same reason. It needs to be compact for the yak but help me save the pike from damage. I’m fishing mount prospect, Niles, wheeling stretch.
@@ILOutdoors I just got the biggest cheapest rubber net that Walmart had . I'm done using mesh/string nets . This one is super nice I'm liking it
i got 10 in a few hourson a whopper plopper. lets fish some time guy
Sounds like fun 😁
