On October 27, 2018, BAFTA Los Angeles honored Jim Carrey with the Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy, presented by American Airlines and Jaguar Land Rover.
Peter Farrelly was there in person to pay tribute to the actor of his film Dumb and Dumber.
Previous recipients include Aziz Ansar (2017), Ricky Gervais (2016), Amy Schumer (2015) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (2014).

@Mr V can you cite your evidence for this as it seems the courts disagree with you. its easy to say "i fink he did it" to assert something, but it seems that the legal system dismissed it and both parties involved confirmed no further actions on these claims. thats a not guilty by default as far as i understand. but hey, i understand that the american court system can look tenuous at best ( *cough-O.J.-cough* ) and it certainly doesnt help when your leader constantly asserts his "fake news" mantra to the point that even im not sure whats real or fake news from over seas but however unfortunate it may turn out to be we can only condemn when PROVED guilty.........i rest my case ;)P

I grew up with his films, loved them, practically idolised the guy but some of the nonsense he has come out with over the past 2 years is just embarrassingly cringe-worthy. Vague, wishy-washy existential platitudes. It takes a certain kind of credulous, gullible sheep to misconstrue them as profound or insightful.
It's a shame that he's never had an interview with somebody that would actually challenge him - it's only ever some air-head, red carpet "journalist" that can barely muster an independent thought.

An amazing speech from an amazing actor.
What I don't understand is how people bash millionaires, celebrities, and athletes who have their own thoughts and opinions on politics and societal issues. Just because they may be rich, and make movies, and play sports, it doesn't mean that they're not allowed to voice their concerns on the problems they see. Last I checked, they're still citizens of the United States, they still pay taxes, they still vote, and they're still affected by the law, just like everyone else. So when people say, "Hollywood should shut up about politics, or this, or that," my question to you is, "Why?" And this is a serious question to those people because I don't understand the animosity toward people like Jim Carrey.
Because it's an award show. Hes bashing capitalism. If it wasnt for capitalism then I assure you that he wouldn't be who he us today. He needs to stick to entertaining us.

If he wants to put his opinion out there. He was asking for it. Everyone has the right to free speech. And that means everyone has a right to say whatever they want. If he wants to say controversial things he is going to get bashed. No matter how rich, famous, and popular someone gets. Not everyone is gonna like them. Which means they're gonna bash you everywhere you go. It's a side affect of being famous.
I always love speeches like this in a room full of millionaires. I don't know how they can breath with the smug so thick in the air.
