I'd probably say it's more of a case of the C'tan's name being attributed as "The Deceiver" after the fact. Maybe once they were shattered into pieces they cursed their very names and began to use those names as representations of the very things they did before being shattered and bound.
"The Deceiver" is his name amongst the C'Tan (and the revived Necron Dynasties); his original Necron name translates to "The Messenger," seemingly an allusion to Nyarlathotep.

@Ben Siener Perfection easily falls under excess and pleasure. One of the names given to Slaanesh is "The Perfect Prince". In fact I would say all of Slaanesh's pleasures and pains revolve around an endless chase for perfection within a particular Slaaneshi temptation. Slaanesh is all about taking things to the extreme.
Luethin: 45:40 This was the begining of the long struggle between Khaine and Vaul "The war in heaven". Me: It's like the 3rd or 4th "War in heaven" already....................... 😅
I first got into Eldar as a 12 year old boy who loved their aesthetic. It really broke my heart once I dug into the lore. Quite a bit to process for a young lad. My chosen race that I became so invested in... were descendants of a once mighty empire and doomed to eventual extinction. Every battle I fought and every xenophobic piece of Empire lore carried extra weight on me. Kind of harrowing for a kid who should be more into having fun with a new hobby!
Did it teach you something? I think it’s an allegory for you as a child, the nature of the warp before the war in heaven and the birth of she who thirsts was like your imagination as a child, now as an adult it is closer to the warp as it is in 40k, and the imperium holds sway of the material world
I have a question guys. I'd like to support Luetin financially by becoming a Patreon member, but I'm in South Africa. Dollars are pricey for me. Is there any other way I can help?
Yeah! lets put the Gothic Nazis in charge! - cough - Horus was right still - cough cough - The emperor is a massively conceited hypocritical ass hole who deserved his stabby stab. In fact if Magnus didn't ride the little yellow bus too school, we wouldn't even need whats essentially just another super power possessing dick in my book. Sure he might as well be god, but he's so very full of himself if i met him id have too restrain myself from trying and failing too murder his face until he stopped spewing his nonsense. #failbadon
The Emperors arrogance and other shortcomings confirm he is ultimately human. As superior he is in all things, he is still flawed and this shows us his inescapable humanity. This goes with your theory that he was human , enlightened and enhanced by a wondering old one. The origin that you presented in your, Emperor of mankind series ,that I personally subscribe to.
Seems like the first created eldar may have been larger than life and god like to modern eldar. Their equivalents of primarchs hand crafted by the old ones. With their psychic echos still shaping things even into the modern era. Maybe all the kroot were bigger than even the biggest prime orks. So during the old war in heaven demi God level eldar and massive kroot hordes fought terrible battles against the Ctan and necrontyr
Not sure what good the Kroot would have been, tbh... Pre-conversion: pretty much a crapshoot trying to get anything but the lifetime nerfing Otherwise: well, unless there's such a thing in the Kroot metabolism as a "Necrodermis deficiency"...
There's an interesting idea that Khaine is just a positive Khorne, Isha is a positive Nurgle, Cegoragh is a positive Tzeentch and Slaanesh is just a positive version of - Oh wait. No.

Tbf, would you like a bunch of self entitled tear jerking Edgelords who dont do anything but sulk and be generally unproductive in the grand scheme of things before
@@donkface8509 Unproductive? I thought they had developed advanced technology, and attempted to travel the stars and escape their poisonous sun. @@travisadams6279 The Old Ones really just didn't care about the beings they created and mostly focused on the Eldar. When I mean unproductive I mean them just being ungrateful and just wanted power of the Old Ones from themselves. Who do you think instigated the War in Heaven?
@@donkface8509 I wasnt meaning to justify the War in Heaven. I just dont picture the Necrontyr as unproductive, but more like cursed. Before their transformation, and then after, the transformation itself cursing them in an entirely other way. I feel like the Old Ones could have at least helped the Necrontyr without giving them wholesale immortality. Also the Necrontyr were manipulated by the selfish Star Gods, and without that manipulation, the War in Heaven may have been something entirely different. If the Old Ones truly did not care for any other beings besides the Eldar, then maybe they should have, it could have prevented much suffering.
When the necrons where a waring race and fighting themselves before demanded eternal life it l doesn’t give hope that they would change there ways after gaining immorality

I've never dug all that much into the Aeldari (god, even just typing that out feels weird, thanks GW for the copyright BS), mostly because I'm not a fan of elves, even space elves. This was a fantastic watch though, totally worth the slight headache that came with it. The part that dealt with the nature of their gods though, I do have a theory. Most legends have some basis in fact in the real world, so there's a base for them to be actual beings. My theory is that because of the time and crises that the Aeldari have faced eroded their myths, that Their gods were Old Ones but they manifested versions of them in the warp as their actual gods. As to how they are now, those gods that survived actually diffused themselves into the Aeldari so that the Aeldari have a tiny fraction of their gods in them as a desperate bid to both have the gods and the Aeldari survive The Fall.
You made me turn into the Inquisitor. Emperor protects. Thank you!!! On serious note... Thanks to you and your work.. I am so into W40K as I was into Star Wars when I was young. You are doing absolutely fantastic and amazing job! Thank you for everything. :-)
Your videoes are awesome, friend! For me they represent the best, most work intensive and passionate recreation of 40k Lore - I love watching them - I used to always love the 40k universe but thanks to your hard work I love it even more
All of the races in 40k are amazing...yet after all the years only the Eldar remain my favorite. There's something intriguing & intrinsically fascinating about a small population on the brink of death-yet weilding so much power that even in their current state, they remain a threat to be reckoned with & respected.
I just started listening to _A Thousand Sons_ and there’s some serious Dark Eldar stuff going down, so I’m so excited to watch this video and learn more about it all, LT! Thank you genuinely for all the hard work!
I held back from comment for a while so I could say the right thing. You're really coming into your own, LT. Cadence is more relaxed, editing more nuanced and musically on point, as always. Once again I'm absolutely engaged by your video. Thank you Luetin.
I love you. I just got home from Warhammer Sheffield, where I have been working on my Venomcrawler/Daemonette conversion. On my way home, what has been a slight tickle in my throat all day, has turned to a hard to swallow sore throat. As I get home, I recieve a text, that I have left my glasses in a local game store, which I stopped by on the way home. Unable to eat my dinner, without it feeling like swallowing glass, and having to wear heavy shades at night, I was feeling rather crappy. I switch on my smart TV, to see you have uploaded a video, and my mood was lifted. I am now getting comfortable in bed, and pressing play. :)
A thought to consider Luetin09. I was reading A Thousand Sons by Graham McNeill in the Horus Heresy Novels. There was one point of interest where the Primarch Magnus made his way to Terra across the Warp. Upon Reaching Terra he found a doorway but could not get it. Then a huge titanic power aided him. This unnamed power was eternal and most importantly BENEVOLENT. Magnus notes how the Warp is a place on contradictions and that there are powers in the warp that are malicious as well as beneficial, if one knows how to differentiate. This is coming from that book on Page 439. With what you have said in your video it suggest that good gods can come from the warp. That same section I mentioned also states that dreams are connected to the warp, at least for humans. This in turn suggests that the Eldar could indeed have "dreamed" their gods into existance, from the warp, and that these warp gods were beneficial, for the most part. What do you think?
I love the picture of the black hole from Interstellar at 40:00 accompanied by very interstellar-esque organ music. It's pretty much the music from the crash scene, but with 40k style organ
Thank you for everything Luetin. You are by far the best 40K lore channel out there. Love your long vids, always thoughtfull and well sourced. Congrats, this is really amazing. Please never stop..
Just wanted to come here and say that you are doing a tremendous job explaining 40k lore and helping to expand the universe. Best channel by far. I hope you are able to continue on as long as you'd like!
The re-ascendence of the Eldar could be very interesting indeed. The Exodites habe no interest in regaining lost glory. The Craftworld Eldar have put rules in place to prevent the sort excesses that caused the fall. They will continue to look down on the other races but I don’t know that they would be so keen to conquer them. The Dark Eldar will always be a threat, of course, but they will always be limited in their reach by the need to constantly watch essentially every other member of their race. For them Slanesh was just one existential threat, and not even the most immediate one. Freed from their fear of She Who Thirsts, the Eldar might be less keen to countenance the existence of such a depraved society, particularly if they are able to regain their ability to reincarnate. The Galaxy is awash with existential threats to humanity. The Orcs are forever bothersome but have not been a true threat to the Imperiam since the Great Beast. The Tau are a rising power but are not interested in enslaving or destroying Mankind. But Chaos, the Tyranids and the Necrons all threaten mankind with extinction. Mankind is not prepared. Each victory comes at terrible cost and none of these threats has even reached its full potential yet. Mankind will need allies if it is to survive, as utterly repugnant as that may seem to them. Even with reincarnation restored, the Eldar are weakened will probably need allies as well, though that concept is equally repugnant to them.
Remembering their old ways, the idea of alliances is very real for the Eldar. The point of their existence is literally being an ally to the Old Ones. They were (or still are?) in an Alliance with the Old Ones. Although debatable, the Eldar (or the Old Ones themselves) may have had a hand in creating and advancing the Tau Civilization, and may be setting the Tau up to be their ally in the future.
There is a theory that I have heard, sorry I cannot remember where, that the Tyranids are a creation of the Old Ones for the purpose of eliminating warp sensitive life in the galaxy. The idea is that if the warp sensitive life forms are removed it would starve the Warp, or at least the entities within it of sustenance. If the Old Ones were involved with the Tau, it might explained they have such a small Warp signature. They do not feed the Warp and they would not attract the attention of the Tyranids the way that the races with greater Warp signatures do. Of course, I am not as well versed in the lore as a lot of people here and everything I have just said may be nonsense but it makes sense to me.
I’d have to say from everything I’ve learned from your videos so far the most important race the old ones had created is more than likely the orks rather than the eldar so far out of every race to exist in warhammer 40k orks seem to be the only incorruptible force I wouldn’t doubt if someday it was the orks who save the universe from all threatening forces Godspeed to all the oddboyz mekboys and nobs lol
I decided to play Mozart in the background while watching this. By The Emperor! Such a beautiful breakdown of complex lore mixed with the addition of classical composure. They fit perfectly and complimented each other excellently.
Pretty sure that star energy was like meat and potatoes for the c'tan, and then they discovered they could eat souls (and pain, fear, suffering... All that other good stuff.) and those were like a cocaine milkshake. Also, the whole "we totally fought those guys you hate before, 'tis true without lying." schtick? Well, the guy is called "The Deceiver". What do you think?
Where there is uncertainty, I shall bring light Where there is doubt, I shall sow faith Where there is shame, I shall point atonement Where there is rage, I shall show its course My word in the soul shall be as my bolter in the field. Through the destruction of our enemies do we earn our salvation! While the enemies of the Emperor still draw breath, there can be no peace. Come you aliens, show me what passes for fury amongst your misbegotten kind! The galaxy is the Emperor's, and anyone or anything who challenges that claim is an enemy who must be destroyed.

Yo, Leutin, I love your content, brother. I got into Warhammer 40k around 2010 when my friend introduced me to Dawn of War 2 and it was all very confusing. The game was cool, story was cool, but that was that. Around 2018 I found your content randomly on YT; your stuff really, really helped introduce me to the world/universe/cannon (I know, that last word is problematic) and recently, during quarantine, it's had a big reemergence in my feed and I've been eating up all your videos. This time it's not some random topic I'll watch for a few weeks and fall out of interest, now that I am really grasping the history within the universe and the history of W40k's creation I am hooked. Looking into the books, different games online, all your vids, etc. And I know you're not actively shitting on other WH40K content creators, or encouraging it, I just don't fw the other guys. I've tried watching/listening to others' stuff and either their presentation is bad, their voice is grating, or something. You're S-tier WH40K content, man - from the tempo of the vids, your opinions and how you express them, your voice and accent (yankee here), I'm digging all of it. Keep it up, bro. Dear Luetin First of all, I love your content. It is highly entertaining and lifts the whole discussion to a new level. It is sometimes more like a philosophical debate than pure lore telling content. But I think one thing gets out of sight here. Besides the fact that probably warp and all is a mirror of humanity and we are fighting ourselfs, standing to the emporer is rather a quoiston of objective arguments then a question of standing to humanity itself. I believe that the imperium has made its mistakes. Like any empire ever before the empirium is a faceless construct held together by an idea. The idea is that humanity needs a home. Someone who stands up for them. And the expression of that idea is the emporer himself. Representented by every imperial soldier, astartes or civilian. Even if humanity fights against itself and the emporer has his flaws and that humanity didn‘t managed to become that secular society it might have could become, humnity does - unless the eldar - fight back. For the emporer!
Well, that escalated quickly! I actually listen to Part 1 & Part 2 twice now because of the amount of information and it's brilliant. the Atmospherics of the soundtrack are perfect. Bravo sir.

Actually the eldar are on a pretty clear road to redeeming themselves. There is new lore coming out soon that will highlight this.
Woo hoo
I’ve been trying to get into an aeldari just like Bobby G has 😂
Did it teach you something?
I think it’s an allegory for you as a child, the nature of the warp before the war in heaven and the birth of she who thirsts was like your imagination as a child, now as an adult it is closer to the warp as it is in 40k, and the imperium holds sway of the material world

Dont you think they were being held back, in "the grand scheme of things"?

And if you ever end up visiting the Washington, DC area, please message me. You've got a few beers I owe you just on this channel alone. Cheers, bro.

Incredible work, this series is a tremendous effort and success. Take a bow, magnificent stuff.
All of the races in 40k are amazing...yet after all the years only the Eldar remain my favorite. :)
great story :D also I think pollen is really high this week maybe its this? Everyone has been complaining about it including me lol

Luetin is a pure scholar. Dedication to this lore to this degree is a blessing brought to us! Excellent work, good sir!

Yo, Leutin, I love your content, brother. I got into Warhammer 40k around 2010 when my friend introduced me to Dawn of War 2 and it was all very confusing. This time it's not some random topic I'll watch for a few weeks and fall out of interest, now that I am really grasping the history within the universe and the history of W40k's creation I am hooked. Dear Luetin
First of all, I love your content.
Bravo sir.
