  • Around 1988. I didn't realise how much of a film buff Bob Monkhouse was - He had an extensive archive of material from the golden age of film.

    Alice Faye was a wonderfully warm star of the golden age. Even now I love to hear her version of You’ll never know. What a class act (and so well preserved without looking plastic) pity Hollywood didn’t use these sorts of stars in their later years.

      I'm glad you like it. Hopefully BBC Archive will start to put more of these kinds of clips up themselves. I only realised after seeing the Bob Monkhouse documentary what a big fan of TV & Films he was himself so it must have been a thrill for him to meet these starts from the early Holywood.
