Authorities reported that before officers were able to neutralize the threat, the shooter claimed the lives of three children and three adults. The incident has left the Covenant School community and the city of Nashville grappling with the aftermath of this devastating act of violence. As investigations continue, the bodycam footage serves as a critical piece of evidence in understanding the events that transpired during the shooting and the response of the police officers on the scene.

Police chased the Uvalde shooter into the school since he started his rampage outside of the school. They were fired upon through the barricaded door to the classroom The only way to return fire would be blindly through walls and a door when there was very reasonable suspicion of children in there. That is when they pulled back. When SWAT arrived, the shooting had stopped, so they thought they might have had a hostage situation. They finally got access and engaged the shooter upon entering a fatal funnel being the door to the classroom and took out the shooter. There was a recent case of an officer shooting blindly into a structure where that officer was charged with wanton endangerment.
