absolutely freaky how everyone acts like this is a daily occurrence at their school holy shit. the officer is literally the only one to realise this is serious. it freaks me out everyone acts so calm including the shooter himself. it breaks my heart to see how this happens so regularly, hope the boy who was shot is okay however.
Unfortunately in a lot of American public schools kids are pretty desensitized to this kind of thing, they were obviously decently frightened and in a more initial and silent state of shock, but when I was still in public school, in a very small low crime area, in a small little town in Indiana, we got days off every now and then because of bomb/shooting threats. There were also a decent amount of fights between students I’d say every month or two. We also did shooting drills a lot and knew of students and classmates that had weapons and posted photos of them online or sent pictures of them too friends and we’re definitely capable of doing something like that. Just based on hearing you would think it was in a big city, high crime, rough area, but again this was in a suburban little town in Indiana with the town right next to it being ranked one of the safest in the entire country. Whenever that stuff would happen it would be scary for a minute and yea you’d be on edge, a couple kids wouldn’t come to school, but we’d move on, and it often got to the point where kids would celebrate when we’d get days off bc of bomb/shooting threats. We become so desensitized to the idea of it happening to where a lot American students don’t really react to it unless they hear repeated shots and see blood. It’s very sad but unfortunately very true. It becomes almost like a tornado warning, you know in a lot of places you get them all the time and you go to your safe zone and it passes and then you go home, reality doesn’t really set in until you start hearing screams and see the roof coming off your classroom. Because of how sadly common school shootings have become here, a lot of students are very desensitized to the idea.
People being calm doesn’t mean that they don’t think it is serious. On the contrary, the fact that they aren’t acting hysterical can be the result of wanting to maintain composure to not impede the situation from being handled, as well as shock over what happened. I don’t know why everyone is saying that the officer is the only one who thinks it is serious. It’s really not uncommon to witness this behavior when something shocking happens. As someone who works in a school, I can tell you that in my experience both staff and students would take this very seriously, as they have when comparatively much, much milder situations have occurred.
You are trained to remain calm in tense situations, being calm in a bad situation is not the same thing as being okay with it. Would you rather have all of the staff being hysterical and freaking out in this moment or would you rather they be level-headed and calm so that people can collectively solve any problems and unknowns about the situation?
As someone who was in high school when this happened - we hold active shooter drills regularly. We are trained for these specific events just like fire or tornado drills - the only difference is almost everyone remembers exactly what to do in this situation every kid in america regularly fears for their safety in our public schools
You're saying he got all geared up, shot at a door, dropped his gun and walked into a classroom and started talking like an extremely well-behaved person to the cop. WTF
He was obviously not in the correct state of mind when he entered the school, as any school shooter would, and after firing once and hearing the screams of the injured student he snapped out of it and realised the bullshit he was about to do. So he dropped his guns and surrendered himself to a teacher.
143vby Just click on this dudes yt channel. Saying he is too pussy to shoot up the school, that’s ridiculous. This guy just plays too much Call of Duty and thinks he is a damn soldier.
That shooting literally seemed like a fever dream, and every time I see videos about it I still don't even understand. Everything just seemed so... Slow. Everyone was calm, and the shooter himself was so calm and understanding about everything. Everything the shooter said, just gave me complete chills. This was one of those most bizarre shootings I've ever seen.
I deadass think that the everyone was confused and in shock, Sky the shooter only shot once through a door and only hit one 17yo in the a ankle thankfully, no other shots, no other violence, Sky surrendered and put his things down probably because he was so hesitant to do anything else and realized he shouldn’t be doing this, he cooperated and was polite, he mentioned how he went to a mental hospital and they told him he was ight, he most likely got some mental illness but still “sane” enough to realize he must stop and surrender
I think the kid was gonna shoot up the school but after he hit that one kid he realized he was wrong and just decided to stop and that’s why he was calm with the officer, he knew he fucked up and wanted to admit it at that point. no idea why everyone else was chill though… shit was weird
this kind of complaining is what leads to unnecessary and unjust hospitalizations then when it happens the same ppl who made comments like this will complain about the unjust hospitalizations. When will ppl learn that government cannot give ppl justice. Either live without government in chaos and be free or live as a slave under government in a failed attempt at safety. Even if the government could keep you safe which it cant, the cost of freedom is 2 high a price to pay to be safe.
@@xzzzz8431 They received reports of an explosion, the first thing they should have done, was a lockdown. You may think this opposite to what should be done in an "explosion" situation, however, lockdowns involve plans for escape and staying put. So initializing a lockdown puts the entire school in the "Ready" state. Also, how the fuck did he get in? I work in a school district, when I go to school buildings that I am not known in, I check in with the office per SOL. However, I get stopped CONSTANTLY, and am asked "Who are you?", "Why are you here", and "let me see your badge" (Badge is my school ID, it is what they call it). These people suck. @@FrankDaBank25 The teachers were overly calm. When one student has been shot in the ankle and a shotgun was laying in the hallway and still no lockdown has been called, I'd be willing to call that negligence on the school faculty's parts. Even if they still thought it was an "explosion", because that's what the police were originally called for, why would they not lockdown or evacuate the school? Their inaction could have easily cost countless lives, the only reason it didn't was because the shooter fortunately didn't go further than one shot.
Right!?! And at around 17:20ish, the other officer talks about him having this planned since 2013 and that THEY KNEW ABOUT HIS PLANS!?! Yet this was how everyone reacted to something that could have been tragic otherwise!?!
Real talk, he was probably high on adrenaline and just shocked at the whole thing. You know, as humans are with sudden life or death situations. As a trained professional, he can still act though. The teachers are conversely not trained in these things, not enough anyway, which is why they freeze up as you can see in the video.
Tbh i dont think he ever intended to kill, im honestly just confused about the motive here. maybe he needed a place to eat and spend the night and just chose the most idiotic way possible?
Didnt his weapon malfunction after the first shot due to the munition he was using and after that he gave up? I really dont think he "stopped himself" lol
@KOHURU 2 He had it in a Guitar case The only why to prevent that is to have people who search every student which I’m not saying is bad but sounds like a huge inconvenience and breach of privacy
One great thing though, we finally have a school resource officer to run TOWARDS the loud sounds, instead of running outside. Sure, he could use a gym membership, but it doesn't matter how prepared or how fit someone is, if they're not ready to run to danger, they need to resign!

He didn’t think they were going to let him go. He stopped shooting the first shot and surrendered. He could have shot at the officer , he could have shot at more people, created much more confusion… but he has a conscious, and clearly was not well. I’m disappointed as a juvenile who clearly is able to be rehabilitated considering DURING the crime he realized how wrong his actions were. Someone who is truly ‘psychopathic’ (anti-social personality disorder in the DSMV-V, that’s not a real diagnosis), would not be able to come to any kind of conclusion of conscious , especially during the crime as they feel a rush. Note that, our idea of a sociopath, and a psychopath , are two different things, but both are ASPD with differing symptoms. I don’t think this kid is either. I think he’s in shock at what he did in the video which is why he’s so flat. Who knows though ? I don’t. Its just natural to want to believe the best and wish the best for any young person. Either way , I feel sorry for him for whatever he went through to become this way, and I feel equally bad for the person shot. They’re both victims, though of course he’s thr only one who did wrong, and there’s no excuse-only an explanation. He clearly understands that.

@Julian Wright schools are supposed to be trained to be ready to deal with or handle any situation to the best of their ability to protect the students that go there... its not a matter of them being emergency responders or not they are responsible for the kids that go there and it should be completely unacceptable that they had little to no active shooter plan. Obviously this video is old, and all i can hope is they’ve got a better system going
@Julian Wright He's right. It's just how the school system has mandatory drills for fires, tornadoes, earthquakes, and now school shootings. Teachers should be prepared for situations that endagers the school, which includes school shootings. I'm not saying that they should all have pistols and bullet proof vests etc. But training for situations like this and being educated on what to do and what not to do in this situation would be beneficial. You saw the teachers in this video, they were all just standing there, guaking, not knowing wtf to do. Banning autorifles might cause the mass shooting rates to go down, but it definitely isn't going to get rid of it completely. The blackmarket thrives off of gun sales and there are plenty of copycats. People will do crazy shit if they have nothing left to loose, epecially if they don't care about their life or other's.

Completely different when you have an active shooter with high capacity magazine and rifle. Especially when the shooter is pumping non stop shots all over the place and then shoots at you if you get close. It’s easy to say what to do after the fact
What the video didn't show is the school was prepared and had Tachanka posted up on the turretin the room, he looked in the window and saw our Lord and immediately surrendered. Another day saved by the Chank
The cries of the high schooler who was lying down on chairs who got shot makes me so scared to be a kid going to school. You can hear him screaming in pain while lying on those chairs. I hope he survived and has someone to help him through his trauma.
Probably fired the shot, heard the kid scream, and decided he wasn't a killer after all. A lotta these shootings are desperate people looking for a solution to their problems via suicide by cop. Kid seems to have lost his nerve immediately, thankfully.

5:47 “Im sorry, Sir. I wasnt raised by the right people..” “ARE YOU KIDDING ME??” I love this officer. Very quick to act, obviously horrified at the situation, he clearly got into this job for the people.
Mind you, he's also waiting for a second shooter to walk around the corner because the situation is bizarre and he's getting, at best, confusing information about it.
@Veris I can't really argue that. My theory is that he got tunnel vision trying to cope with the situation and kinda lost sight of the situation, which put him more on edge worrying about other shooters. He told a few people to secure the gun after he had been told it was secure IIRC. But a kid had been shot and the situation was fairly confusing so I can't really fault anyone too much for handling it poorly. Based on the way it played out, I think I would never have believed he was alone and it's hard to rely on something being somewhere if you can't see it, just like the shotgun. I dunno if he was just assuming the worst about everything until the situation was resolved or if he was unreasonably upset. Can't really call it.
@@L3ttuc3 I would say he was extremely confused. Wouldnt we all be? You are called to a school, and the only thing you know is, that someone carrying a weapon is probably trying to kill students. Sentient being well really it's an assumption, but there's so much evidence in this video that really suggest that he thought about it just a little to hard and was a little too prepared imo. He booked it into the restroom with his guitar case and backpack where he knew he could safely prepare himself. He had packed gloves, a vest, and a weapon. He brought those items to a school he wasn't attending anymore. Don't think people do this on a whim.
Very interesting that the shooter is so calm, respectful and helpful. I would hope that he is given a very thorough neurological exam.
Just FYI, that vest is not made of Kevlar, it looks like a condor vest, which is not bullet resistant. You can put plates or trauma panels, but its mostly used as a load bearing/magazine holder

WTF?! The entire school and the shooter is more calm than the extremely baffled officer.
Cop completely shit himself 😭
You are called to a school, and the only thing you know is, that someone carrying a weapon is probably trying to kill students. i think it snapped him out of it.
There is a interrogation on him from he says he shot the door, then there was a girl in the hallway im guessing and she didnt run away, she was crying and he couldn't do it so he stopped and threw the gun down and let her walk away and then gave up to a teacher. He says he heard someone scream but he didn't know he hit someone, so it could have added to it. He never meantioned the text on the wall.

@Sentient being He doesn't know, but he's sure going to try to pretend to.
Very interesting that the shooter is so calm, respectful and helpful. It's almost as if he started his day as a killer with gun, ammo and Kevlar and after one shot through a door he said "Nah, that's not me, this ain't right" and quit. I would hope that he is given a very thorough neurological exam.
Just FYI, that vest is not made of Kevlar, it looks like a condor vest, which is not bullet resistant. You can put plates or trauma panels, but its mostly used as a load bearing/magazine holder
The chest piece is more commonly known as a plate carrier. Kevlar material is used to make helmets.

Especially compared to the teaching staff, like, wtf? It was bewildering. Didn’t even lockdown the school until an officer was already there and told them to.
@@urmother2090 he wasn’t a cop that came to the school he was the resource deputy, on patrol inside the school on campus all day everyday. What he did was his job that he gets paid to do and trained to do and is the one 100% responsible for doing on this campus if this, or any emergency, ever happens. He’s going to respond faster than even teachers in a classroom two doors down bc he gets the first piece of information relayed out of the initial classroom or scene and then every piece of info after that. If anything I can’t believe how he began to check those rooms, and half a** clear them, so nonchalantly and enter them without the thought of a threat on the other side, having teachers use their keys standing in front of the doors, doors with a window on them at that, and on their own call fling the door open etc, zero tactical thought behind any of those early moments. He’s lucky the kid wasn’t active anymore and gave up after the first shot, he and the teacher opening the door he was behind would have been in a world of hurt if left to their own strategy to bring the shooter down
Except he left the damn weapon unsecured in the hallway
@2009carol2010 - Was he, though? All the hard work had been done already - the deputy was just present after the shooter had "given up." I mean, he secured the scene and helped direct school staff (who seemed even more confused, but they're teachers so I get it) after the fact, but his mood and tone seemed wildly unprepared.
As someone already pointed out, he failed to secure the weapon (I know he didn't know where it was, but that should have been his first question/impulse) and seemed to have a hard time processing what was happening.
"Are you serious? How'd you do it? You just walked it? Why?! What's wrong with you?!" These are not the questions of a calm, collected LEO.
