  • I share my strategies of how to safely find rent in BC without living here first. It's easy to get scammed when looking for apartments to rent. Please, do not send people money until you have seen the place and you are ready to rent it and contracts are signed!

    Great info Chance. Thanks! Any chance (no pun intended) you’ll be doing a public transit vid? I’m moving from the states and wondering if I should bring my car or arrive car less. I will most likely be in the Yaletown area.

    Hi !
    So, for a job with $2400 payment a month and a rent for something of $1000 ¿is that an option or should I look for something cheaper? thanks

    • @everythinganimation1183
      @everythinganimation1183  3 роки тому +1

      That sounds doable. Are you saying $2400 per month or biweekly? $1000/m rent is possible in Burnaby with a roommate

    Hi! I have a question if you don’t mind... and if it’s not too personal.
    How did you (or anyone) afford to go to VFS? Do student loans cover it? Lots of savings?
    I’m currently enrolled in a program similar to the VFS Foundational Visual Art And Design. When I graduate I’m hoping to get into VFS but I’m unsure how I’ll be able to, money wise 😬

    • @everythinganimation1183
      @everythinganimation1183  5 років тому +1

      Sorry for the late reply, I was not notified of your comment for some reason.
      It's not too personal. I had $8000 saved up which is obviously not enough so I applied for every bursary and student loan I could find which got me $3500 and I tried to take out a student loan for the rest but was declined so had to borrow the rest of the money from my parents. Though I make large monthly payment back to them each month to pay off my loan, I will be paying it back for a few more years. Sadly I don't know how student loans work because I couldn't get one.
      My VFS adviser repeatedly mentioned how I should just start asap so that I can start working faster and pay off my loan quicker but I'm not sure if he was right or not because I know a lot of people that can't find a job in the industry once they finish school and even some that do and end up living paycheck to paycheck only able to make the minimum payment on their loan because a lot of other expenses are very high in Vancouver. Do what you think is best for you and be smart with your money. I wish you the best of luck with your carrier.

    Do not be fooled. MOST Vancouver apartments are individually owned suites as part of a condo. Very few rental buildings exist. That is the problem.

      That's starting to be the trend everywhere around the world. Greedy boomers who bought up homes for a honeypot so they could jack up the price to sell back to our generation now unable to keep up with the market value segmenting further now that foreign investors have started buying up property with the same goal. Our generation is forever screwed on the housing market.

    • @everythinganimation1183

      Surrey is cheaper but you could probably find something reasonable in Richmond near transit for cheaper

      You will have to get the okay from the landlord but I don't know of any laws against that. Please note that I am not a professional real estate agent or lawyer.

      My Dad would probably visit months at a time so staying with a Family isn't probably the best option

    • @everythinganimation1183
      @everythinganimation1183  4 роки тому +1

      Might want to look at places in Port Coquitlam. People seem to be more outdoorsy there and would probably be happier to let you have your dog. It would be close to the mountains and off road areas for playing with your Jeep.

      I'm not sure what you're asking. I would suggest that you have enough money for 15 months of expenses minimum before you start at VFS.

      I agree, I'm actually studying finance so I can get a job somewhere where the rent doesn't eat away at half my paycheck and where I'll be able to buy a house one day. I like Cranbrook, Calgary, or Kimberley where you can find rent for $500 a month and houses for $250000.

    Do not come unless you get a job offer with 4,000 dollars at least. Very expensive city. A real estate mafia ((from a certain race)) destroyed the city. It's expensive even outside downtown. Moreover, when you see the price you think that you will get a modern design apartment but it's not. In fact, it's a very standard design. The city should take a look for these overrated priceses.

    Cycling in Vancouver is perfectly fine, especially due to all the cycle routes.
