I’ve lived in Van for years and two of these were new info for me. Ruckify and the toilet one. Lol. Until now i just had my own database of hotels whose toilets i could discretely use. How my world has opened up!
I’m definitely gonna do the bus texting thing, the student discounts and the ruckify rental thing once I move to Vancouver in 2-3 months… thank you so much ☺️
6:30 Drink so much water & coffee too and can relate. Honestly, Vancouver does have a shockingly low amount of public washrooms that is easily accessible when you're out and about. Even worse now with COVID.
Lots of helpful info, thanks! Regarding the Compass Card I've seen elsewhere the cost is $6, which I guess is the nonrefundable portion. Has it changed?
Also if your woundering how some people have the red compass cards it's because they are disabled or have a disability and you cant just normally get them by going and buying one
Omg your style is even better now Vid is so smooth Transitions and your jokes I’m in love And all ad with bulbs it’s one of the most native ads ever 👌🙌
Thanks Adam , did not know about the ruckrentals or flush app . Will be using both I'm sure. A correction on the compass card to note , $6.00 (not $20) to purchase first time and single fare is now $3.00 or $2.40 with card .
About "text the bus" u can use tcomm which is better and it says next bus plus u can see where it is and if the bus is early or late and it will say that
Does 9 am to 6 pm parking means that parking is free after 6 pm with no limit on duration? I see on PayByPhone 9 am to 6 pm for downtown area. So, am I permitted to park after 6 pm? And I don’t need to pay for parking after 6 pm at those PayByPhone spots?
Thanks for these Vancouver vids, Adam. I'm looking to move from the UK to the Vancouver/Greater Vancouver area in the next few years so these kinds of guides are so useful. Would love to see more of the Greater Van area and Sea-to-Sky corridor. Have been a few times as one of my best mates has been a Whistler local for about 15 years but seeing around places like Squamish and even the Tri-City area would be very cool. Also a video on dog friendly places//parks would be awesome, too. Cheers.
I want to share another tip here... it can save you $1 on your compass card. For example, you work in downtown and finish work at 6:15PM, and you need to take skytrain to Metrotown, normally it will cost you $3.45 because it's 2 zone. But if you tap out at Joyce station after 6:30PM and tap in again. It will only cost you $2.40 (1 zone)
I can't wait until you find your way to British Columbia. Once you get here (proverbially) I recommend splitting it into two episodes. Mainland BC and Vancouver Island. The scenery is intense and being a popular tourist destination British Columbia and Vancouver Island have way too much to offer to be covered in less than a half hour.
I started texting the bus several years ago, but have upgraded to just using their website on smartphone. Same sort of deal, but you can see how many and how often they are coming. Or preplan a trip. Isn't it just $6 for the compass card, not $20? I have the Keychain and have it on autoload, for when I need to take transit. I didn't know about the flush app, that's awesome, for someone with an autoimmune disease... gonna download it. Thanks for the tips :) Also will be checking out the renting app, what a great idea to not have to buy anything you probably won't use a lot!!
Vancouverite here who used to take skytrain rides with compass card, did I read via CC that you're saying that one buys compass card for $20? (Sorry I can't hear all kind of sounds) Actually, I had to deposit $5 just for the compass card (it contains three types: mini compass, waistband and regular sized one), and loaded some $ whenever I needed to.
Re: Compass Cards. Users purchase a Compass card for a $6 refundable deposit, then load it with stored value. The $6 deposit can be used temporarily if a rider forgets to maintain enough stored value, but the value on the card must be replenished above $6 before the next trip or they will not be able to tap in. A reloadable monthly one-zone adult Compass Card in Metro Vancouver costs $98. That's the cheapest way to travel, and it only works for those who live relatively close to work or school. A two-zone pass sets an adult transit rider back $131 and a three-zone adult pass costs $177. Got rid of my last vehicle in 2010 and been a monthly transit pass (aka Compass Card) ever since.
Hey..I am in Saskatchewan and plan to move to Vancouver but the cost of living seems to be on a higher side ..so we plan to spend the initial few years in Surrey..could you please make a vlog or give us some information about the place..
Life hack: if you want a seat on the train a vancouver city centre, take other train down to waterfront where everyone gets off then the train will head back towards vancouver city centre and boom you got a seat
There is a fee for using the pay parking app. I think it is 0.35 per transaction. Also, I think if you pay cash for the bus you don't get to transfer and must pay again at each leg of the trip.

Yeah took me over a year hahah
Using Transit. It’s a app and much better than texting the bus.
I moved here Nov 2020.. Learning continues 😀

Great video! There are also some free 2 hour spots downtown if ya know where to look! 😉
That's true! I'm always trying to remember each place that's free 😆👍

Yes it has been! Forever grateful for the initial support 🙌😄
Bus fare is actually $3 or $2.40 with a compass card...

I've been to Vancouver one time, can't wait to go back!
Very helpful. This is something no one tells you generally. Thanks a lot, Adam for sharing :)
Just what I was thinking. Glad to help 😀
Downloading the transit scheduling app is way better than texting the bus
Compass cards only cost 6$ (refundable), not 20$!
But thanks for the tips ❤️👍
yes I was about to say the same thing!
It's $3.00 to take transit not $2.75.
@@vancouverkristy One zone is $3.00 if you don't use a Compass Card; with a Compass Card it is $2.40
@@catecurry48, still not $2.75.
Diggin what you’re doing bro , keep it up 🇨🇦

Since this is one week old video, let me tell you it’s $2.40 per tap and not $2.60. Also, new card is for $6 and not $20.

Odd question but what kind of glasses are you wearing?
No problem, they are Barton Perreira. They had a good selection of frames with gold on them, I am a fan 🙌

in 2010's the bus fare for a 2 zone used to cost $1.75... i think bus fare should go back in time

This is dope bro thanks
Thanks for your vidio Adam...its make me more information about vancouper & campus overthere👍
moving to van soon i dont have any idea how to live in such big cities (population in my town is 250 000)
you can also just use apple maps for real time bus tracking if you don’t have the bus stop number!
you can also search the bus stop code on google
Oh man! Very helpful! Be there soon... thanks.

That was possibly the best sponsor ad I've ever seen 😎
BC car insurance is 2 times expensive than that of Alberta. ICBC grips monopoly in BC while other provinces have multiple car insurance companies.
So useful, bro!

Compass cards regularly dump your balances though.
Thank you for this video. These are some pretty useful hacks for daily life :) :)
It’s $3 without a card, $2.40 with the compass card for adults (I’m a bus driver) lol. Also $6 dollars for the card, or $20.
