At least 12 civilians and three members of the local UN mission known as MONUSCO have been killed in days of protests.
Demonstrators say the troops have failed to protect them from armed groups

The chaos and looting of DRC has been ongoing for years. Peace keepers have made no difference and are not effective. Diamonds have been looted. This should be a wealthy country but instead has people living in dire poverty, children working in mines in horrific conditions. It is tragic that they cannot work together for the betterment of the nation and the people, but greed and power struggles ensure that they will never prosper.

The United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) has been marred by widespread allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) of women and girls by UN peacekeepers. There is minimal research conducted on the perceptions of communities most affected by the SEA themselves, and even less about those below the age of 18. They need to go, Kagame always calling them so called UN so i get it.
Enough is enough, they have been there for long time without anything good from them just protecting thieves of minerals

The population testify not one time, but many times the UN troops transporting arms and munitions to the "said" rebels, moving the rebel troops from different locations. So they can cause desolation to the population. Understanding that the chaos in this part of the DRC is instrumentalised by the western powers using rwandan military under the jacket of rebellion. Their mission is, creating a long term chao in this part of the country so all of them, Rwanda, the Westerns, UN personnels, and any country contributing behalf their program can profite to loot the minerals while the population of Congo suffer.
There misson? The results are clear, unstability.
They will create problems,and come as saviours.

The guy from Brussels says the militias are not being held to account and that is one of the biggest problems, but he also says that a military solution is not the answer.

They forgot to mention: Those UN soldiers shut and killed 18 unarmed protesters...DRC Congo is the richest country potentially in Africa (natural gas, oil, cobalt- biggest reserve of best cobalt for electrical cars, tin, cassiterite and coltan for computers and cell phones, uranium, diamant, gold, iron, manganese, etc...). La MONUSCO est en effet presente depuis plus de 22 ans en Congo RDC et ne fait qu'observer les tueries en RDC par des rebels etrangers des pays voisins soutenu par les multinationales et leur mercenaires pour les aider a mieux piller les ressources du Congo en tuant les Congolais et les faisant fuir en migrations, plusieurs fois les vehicules de la MONUSCO on ete surpris remplis de minerais du Congo RDC qui aidaient ces memes rebels et multinationales a traverser la frontiere rwandaise avec les minerais congolais volés. L'ONU etait obligée de faire un rapport sur tout cela avec preuves a l'appui dans le rapport "mapping du Congo" de l'ONU denoncant les crimes de Kagame et Museveni par leurs mercenaires rebels au Congo RDC, mais bien sur l'ONU ne fait rien a part denoncer. (pour des details sur ces preuves lire "DRC: Mapping human rights violations" sur le site de l'ONU, et lire aussi les livres des grands experts historiens: le Camerounais Charles Onana, la Canadienne Judi River, le Congolais Patrick Mbeko, ou le discours du prix Nobel de la paix Docteur Mukwege). Ces minerais de sang du Congo sont utilisé aussi pour construire l'economie du Rwanda voisin, qui n'a pas de ressource miniere exploitable, et ou beaucoup de bases mercenaires et bases etrangeres se trouvent, tout ce cirque continue aujourd'hui grace a certains politiciens corrompus au gouvernement du Congo. Plus de dix millions de morts deja depuis vings ans de MONUSCO au Congo RDC, cette tragedie du genocide Congolais RDC personne n'en parle car il ya trop de gens a travers le monde qui font des milliards de dollars sur ce sang des Congolais (cobalt- la plus grosse reserve mondiale du cobalt pour les voitures electriques, la cassiterite et le coltan pour les ordinateurs, l'uranium, le diamant, l'or, le fer, le gaz, le petrole, etc...).
To the journaliste,....your inviters have been missing the points here. The big point is the mapping report, it has lot of elements wich profs that monusco are not able to full ful their mission in DRC. When the UN came to DRC 22years ago, there was only 2 arms groupes, to day we compte more than 120. Some of them getting weapon by monusco. Monusco by it doesn't won't peace in this region other wise it mission will be over. 21000 so called peace keepers in 2 reagions, well ecuped with drones and so on,... but People getting killed in front their camps ? Whats't that? To the UN meeting the monusco boss said that they can not fight M23 because it well ecuped,...so Who is keeping Who? UN in their office continue to hide the mapping report and doesn't won't the world to know the truth. Yes the UN peacekeepers are involved in trafficking minerals resources from the Congo,via Rwanda and Uganda,in 2019 un armoured personnel carrier overturned and inside was all kinds of minerals on way to Rwanda...nothing not even an investigation was carried out..its Africa foraging ground for the rest of the world

I think we should dismantle the UN or change it's mandate. The UN stood by while thousands of men in Yugoslavia were murdered, with the soldiers marching them right by the UN, whose hands were tied, by their stated ''peace keeping mission''' If the UN were not there giving the men false hope, many could have escaped. Also the UN peacekeepers are at risk

UN is not a government and it doesn't really have any means of enforcing any of it rules apart from the forces countries themselves give to UN. UN mandate is something that big countries with veto power have agreed upon. UN is basically a discussion forum. I don't think UN will ever be anything else than discussion forum. Not really.

The UN leadership should either allow them to engage in combat or rather remove the peacekeepers. It's not the peacekeepers fault, it's the UN leadership's.

They work very closely in UN climate. They are deployed in different places but with the same mission under one higher command. They are the best friend to each other.

We want to fight our fight. The peacekeepers have been backing/helping rebels. The UN is not there to help the population (nor is the curent president of DRC)

It will be naive to think that the UN mission alone can provide security. The Congo case is so complex. Multiplicity of actors and actions at different levels are needed: international, internal and regional. But I think the fundamental issue is to have a functioning, responsible and responsive central government. Only then can efforts of others can be meaniningful. Love to my congolese brothers. Is going to be fine. The death of Lumumba and many other congolese patriots will not be in vain. I don't know how and when but one day this country will light up and with it the African continent.

The situation in the Eastern Congo is very complex and what you see here is the consequence of the confusion lying in the contradictions found in the whole situation. I wonder who is manipulating the situation here. When the Rwandese and Ugandan armies crossed into the DRC in 1994 to support Laurent Kabila in toppling Mobutu part of their long-time agenda of infiltrating the institutions and controlling the DRC and its resources, they had in the process as a war strategy of installing fear, raped women who gave birth to 5 million children who are in their 30th today and are half Congolese and half whatever. In the process they had also committed the biggest genocide the world has never known by killing 10 million Congolese people who in all logic were men, children and elderly people, sparing young girls and women capable of bearing their offspring. We must remember that the total population in the Eastern part of Congo was about 15 million including Rwandese Tutsi refugees who fled the persecution in Rwanda in the 1950’s and had since lived there. So, if they were spared during that genocide, what we have here is a diabolic total replacement of the Congolese population in the East for the control of one of the most agricultural rich lands in the world where also grows a special type of coffee appreciated worldwide; Lands rich in gold, with the biggest reserve of coltan in the world, large quantities of jewelries’ diamond, oil, gas and many rare minerals. There, you also find big lakes and the last place for the last few mountain gorillas of the world and who are being decimated by all the rockets falling in the forest. So, the questions we may ask ourselves are: Who is manipulating such a type of people to do what they are doing if any manipulation there is? Who has interest in seeing the UN leave and leave a vacuum behind? What is the role of the peace keeping force mission in what they have been accused of for making the bed for the neighboring countries, that are Rwanda and Uganda as proxies of multinationals and foreign powers for getting resources for free from the Congo? We all know that these organizations have been developing a tinny country in the boarder of the DRC, Rwanda, supplying finance, arms, developing hotels, etc., which serve them as safe and comfortable base from which to observe and conduct the DRC game, while weakening the DRC with an arm embargo and chaos. This stupid and violent game must stop! If they want resources, they must enter through the big door and not a small hole, negotiate and buy, and spare the innocent lives!

M23 is a force created to counter FDLR---a genocide movement against the Kigali establishment.
The ultimate solution to the conflicts, is for DRC to pacify its Eastern region and prevent the region from being used as a haven & launchpad for rebels against DRC's neighbours.
Failure by the Kinshasa government to create a safe neighbourhood, will always provoc her neighbours to come in, legitimately or illegitimately(when denied by government of the land),through direct military deployment or through proxies,in pursuit of their enemies.
