- Fleadh Cheoil : The Fleadh Live camera crew took a walk around the city to ask a few people what the Fleadh means to them. Here is a short clip of what some had to say about this great event.
FleadhLive will see the world's best traditional Irish musicians perform in a series of shows broadcast live and direct from the Fleadh Cheoil in Derry from Wednesday 14th -- Sunday 18th August daily on TG4, www.tg4.tv and www.FleadhCheoil.ie
FleadhLive will include performances from some of the biggest names on the international world/folk music scene, interspersed with impromptu music lifted off the street by visiting musicians and winners of Fleadh competitions.
Each Fleadh Live show will be hosted by top TG4 television personality, Síle Ní Bhraonáin, and traditional Irish music legend, Gino Lupari, and will take the format of iconic live music programmes such as Later... with Jools Holland and Top of the Pops, with multiple performance spaces and energetic live audiences.

Derry is a different world
Best Derry saying I ever heard was.... YA STOKE
'Yer ma'
When I was growing up in Derry and we were broke the most common phrase was 'Have ye a wing?', meaning a penny. The reply was usually 'Are ye tappin?'. I think it was called a wing because the old Irish penny had a chicken on it.
There was also 'Slide on' and 'Yer head's a marly'.
Then there was the rhyme for when somebody told a lie at school:
Tell tale tit,
Yer mammy canny knit,
Yer daddy canny go tae bed,
Without a dummy tit.
Omg that last rhyme cracked me up! Tears I my eyes!
Another phrase that should of been in the video was "no bother"
aye right. wat u on about high. nobother. Yes High.
and thats up the town were i live!
