I heard John Whelan from Wexford play in the all ireland fleadh when we were both young men. Some time later i heard he was emigrating to North America and I was saddened that Ireland was losing such a talented musician. It is only recently that I heard him again on U-Tube and while he has beefed up a bit his playing has retained that wonderful energy and style I first heard 55 years ago. May God bless you and your playing.

I saw this talented man and his band, something like 10 years ago in barre city, Vermont, during our annual heritage festival, where I live! I bought his CD and love to hear his songs from time to time. I'm 56 raised half italian / French grew up on rock, I'm a drummer. Played in rock & country bands. But fell in love with johns playing once I heard it. Thank you! Come back to Vermont!!
What a box player as good a sound as I've heard in long many a year, wouldn't doubt you boy, Tony Mcmahon springs to mind listening you. Greetings from Bantry bay
