    Seems like modular tool storage is continuing to gain popularity. Along with use at different job locations, it’s also good to be able to move organized tools and hardware for different setups in a shop.

      It's convenient. I live in an apartment and have to go up a flight of stairs. Snapping everything together and throwing them on a dolly (which i wish Ridgid had) saves me. I'm able to take only the boxes I need and leave the rest for whatever job it is that day. They are cheap enough to replace if needed, I have the peace of mind that they won't get stolen out of my truck, and I don't have to have a gang box or tool box hogging up a quarter of the bed.

    Hey Ridgid, Drawers Please......!!!!!!!! Milwaukie's drawer system is a major game changer, considering both systems are manufactured by the same company, it shouldn't be a big leap for Ridgid to step up to the next level.

    I like that form factor because is better to roll out from a pickup bed. Also it nicely fits (with an additional box clipped) below the tonneau cover. One more thing not mentioned on the video is that the renovable basket can be hold by the handle when extended

    Funny I came across this today. My daughter is living a hour away at college and I’ve had to pack up a few bags of tools a few times because her car was acting up. I was just looking at these and the other rolling Ridgid box today just to make those trips to only need to pack and keep up with one.

    I picked one up a couple days ago with the three “standard” ones plus the organizer with the removable cup things. So far I’m very pleased with the build quality. I briefly looked at the husky one that was $90 and it’s literally built like a child’s tackle box. Definitely the best value out of the big brands.

  • @tinksfawn08
    @tinksfawn08 3 роки тому +5

    I appreciate your review of this system. I did buy the Ridgid 22 in rolling 3 box combo, but for my extra tool needs for the “bigger stuff”, I ended up buying the Husky 25 gallon rolling box. This does connect to their standup rolling boxes (on top like Ridgid’s and oddly enough called the connect system) and is larger than that Ridgid you just showed. I’d like to hear your thoughts of the Husky system.

    • @mikeg1433
      @mikeg1433 2 роки тому +2

      I have all the sub 30” bins from both Ridgid and Husky and they both complement each other really well. The Huskies are awesome for smaller parts and their clear lidded subdivided bins are awesome for screws, nails, drywall anchors, etc… wile the Ridgid bins are great for power tools and heavier items which also tend to be more expensive so the locking bar is a bonus, though the individual latches could use larger metal loops for decent size locks but I wish they had a Ridgid option for the larger options like the 25 gallon one you have and the 50 gallon one too.
      I think it’s hard to justify the additional shelf space to have both lineups along with Dewalt and Milwaukee’s systems.
      The 25 gallon locker is the perfect size for what I’m looking for but I got one and it was so poorly made that one of the hinges wasn’t even connected. It’s weird and hard to explain but it’s like they molded it incorrectly and then just slid the pin in through the bottom halve’s eyelets. I tried sliding it out and realigning the two halves but the one side was so malformed, it just wouldn’t work. Lol.
      Has yours held up well so far? I just ended up returning mine but may go back and buy it again after checking the hinges better .

    This system is great for someone like me. I dont have a truck, live in NYC, unstacked it fits perfectly in my sedan trunk, i can take my tools out quickly and store in my attic when not using. If u can afford it and have space get the packout, its Milwaukee its sexy haha, but if u need something slim that fits into the trunk of a sedan and gets the job done just as well don’t hesitate get the rigid 28 and all the stacking extras, plus its so much cheaper so i saved the money and bought more Milwaukee powertools haha

    For the price ridgid offers a great product. Hands down they provide more value than milwaukee. My biggest gripes with the ridgid are the connecting latches and the wheels ability to go over extension cords on a job site. They are too small and smooth and they catch cords and just drag the cord with you. With the ridgid you will quickly learn to go around the long way to avoid an extension cord on the floor. Not the case with the milwaukee. The wheels on the milwaukee are bigger and grip more and therefore roll over cords with ease. These wheels on the new rigid look even smaller than the original. I would have been interested in seeing how well the new ridgid box goes up and down a set of stairs too. Lets be real. Not all job sites are on a single floor.

    • @WorkshopAddict

      I tried to film the stars a few times with crappy results. The rolling Ridgid 22" box goes up the stairs the same as the Milwaukee, but the 28" Ridgid is more like dragging up a sled without wheels. On carpet it is nice, not so much for finished wood.

    Since this new box wasn’t following the same form factor as the rest of the set I wish they gave it a *little* more width as well but still awesome they are adding more to an old platform and not just pushing a new line out instead. I think I will pick one up, but having to lift a great deal of the weight of the stack above to roll it around unlike the standard box won’t work well for my often way overpacked stacks 😅

However, the main thing that sets Packout apart are All of the Many Other tools that can stack on them, like the Vac, Lights/Charger, Radio/Charger, dedicated wrench/socket sets, etc. That is the main feature that sets them apart for me to invest in.

  • @hardrock1826

    I like the longer storage on the Ridgid box for those longer tools as you demonstrated. What I don't like, big time, about the Ridgid is that small wheel assembly. I would remove that and put in a new, longer axle, with bigger, probably air wheels that would give a smoother, more stable roll. I think that would tend to be more controllable over those rough, stony or uneven surfaces. I must say, that I prefer the configuration of the Milwaukee tool caddy, in relation to the pull handle and how it would be balanced with regard to the weight distribution. I think absorbing the weight that you would be carrying, would be easier with the Milwaukee. It just appeals to me more than the Ridgid system. And no, I don't have a Milwaukee System. I don't have any at this time, just doing my research. Thanks for your video on this.

    Go to home Depot and compare the quality between a rigid, DeWalt and husky tool box. You will see Nothing currently can beat a rigid tool box. The thickness of the plastic is insane.
    As a prior contractor I've used this tool box for over a year as a step ladder and yanking it up and down stairs with over 100 lbs of tools inside. Only the handle latch broke after 2 years of full on abuse. After 4 years of constant use the extendable handle bar broke. Nothing else with the box broke, this is a testament to the quality of the plastic used in the rigid box.
