I just got the Husky build out and screwed a steel grate to the top of the large box lid. Then I zip tied 2 chargers to in and a power bar, I plan to change later on, so I like having something easy to change. The only downside is that I have to use a cable to hold the top open with the added weight. After seeing this I might switch to a similar setup. I'm glad I saw this before I drilled a hole for one of those connectors, because I was planning on that too.
Great set up if your using lots of batteries. I'd put a soft Styrofoam to hold them still when you pick up the topl case however. I have that tool box in my set up but its underuitlized. Im thinking of how i can set up. Its amazing how your toolbox set up helps you on your job.

My only question is, did you also use double sided tape to secure the actual charging stations to the case like you did with the power adaptors? I noticed the underside of the stations have ridges and are not flat. I was thinking of doubling up on the tape (two layers) to better fill in the gaps and hopefully that would give me more positive contact with the case. Thoughts? I would appreciate any insight you can provide.
Yes I did. The double sided tape I used (mentioned in the video) is strong enough to hold even with just ridges. Just make sure you cover the whole base. Send a pic when your done.

I ended up using a handheld glue gun on some of the ridges on the bottom of the charging stations and then putting them where I desired and I then added glue along the bottom edge most of the way around the charger as best I could. They're not going anywhere now. Wish I could attach a few pictures here to show you the end product but my case came out awesome, thanks to your video.
Thank you. Honestly I don't notice a difference between them as far as charging goes. The bigger charger has the transformer in the base and the little one has it in the plug. That's it as far as I can tell. Charging times are the same. You can arrange the bigger chargers differently but will fit less batteries.
The other day I was considering redoing the case to put in the bigger chargers. When I looked at the power input between the 2 size chargers I called my electrician to confirm some info. I have 3 size chargers and even though all of them output 18v, the main difference is the input wattage. The biggest charger is 110w, that charger is way too big for this setup. The larger physical charger (with the transformer built into the base) input is rated at 55w while the smaller physical charger with the transformer built into the plug (like the 2 I used in the video) input rating is actually 60w. It's only a 5w difference but still 5w is 5w. If you have 2 or more size chargers and want to build this case, check out the input wattage of the chargers and see which one is better for you. Remember, I used Ridgid so a different brand may have different ratings.
I like this idea yet it would be nice if it were out of the way of the dolly truck handle that way you could move it while plugged in. I like the idea you can plug in the 2.0 system and have batteries charging while locked away and secure. Would be even better if there were a male and female plug on the outside that way you could hook up a shop vac from the outside
1) why would you move it if it's plugged in and charging? 2) while the batteries are in the chargers the lid won't close. 3) I first thought why would you plug a VAC into the case? Just plug it into an outlet. Then I re-thought the idea, if you only have 1 available outlet then being able to plug in a vac would be good. Thanks for the thought, I may use it on a future project.
I did it! Probably isn’t the best layout as far as room goes but I put the plug in the center on the side. On the opposite side is a female plug so you can plug in shop vac, light, fan etc. the bars still lock in place and the plugs do not interfere. I’m thinking about putting some good water flex silicone around the seal just in case. The female plug I found only has 2 mounting holes instead of 3 like the make plug. I zapped it too hard and it bent in a bit. Hopefully the case doesn’t flex too much and some water resistant silicone holds up
A whole ass box for way too many batteries? What job you doing that would require 18 batteries? Also, what tools? A battery charging case with nothing to power. I'm so confused.
Your not serious right? Why would anyone have batteries with no tools. The video wasn't about tools. It's about storing batteries in a car to be brought into my home at night during the winter months so they're not left outside in the cold. I got the idea from another video that only held 6 batteries. I obviously have more. The batteries i collected came with tool sets not just batteries alone. As far as the amount I only have 2 corded tools, the rest are cordless so the more the better while on a job site with no electricity available.
this had me thinking. It would work great as a laptop, etc charging station as well. Camera and drone batteries charging along with the computer. You could just jack in on a snowy or rainy day and start charging everything. This idea has potentials!@@nickwit1168
This is a video about a battery box and charger unit, not about any tools. If you actually work for a living, you would understand why you would have multiple batteries if you switch to all cordless tools. Personally, I prefer to go to a job and not have to plug into my customers power whenever possible, even to just charge batteries. Your comment is actually pretty ignorant.
With those chargers I could squeeze a total of 21 most being 2ah batteries. Since that video I had changed to the dual simultaneous charger. It charges 2 at the same time and faster.
@@nickwit1168 I have all of the chargers. If you're not in a hurry , diy weekend warrior then find but if you have a big tasks then You might be in trouble. Sometime like a big job site. I normally used fast chargers
