Sometimes learning the traditional cooking techniques can open up a whole new world or recipe creation. The more you know the less you're dependant on other peoples recipes, being able to create you own recipes will drastically improve the quality of the meal you cook and decrease the effort you have to put into cooking. These French mother sauces are so handy. We look forward to hearing about how you're going to use them.
All the best,
Dave & Steve.

You guuuys! You could vegan-ise pretty much anything couldn't you?! Now we're at French sauces, lol. So creative and talented!
Ahaha thanks a mill! :)
It's not even about recipes anymore..you guys I am here to feel better thanks to your enthusiasm and vibe! Of course I love the recipes too but your positive vibe is 💯 🔥!!
Ah wow thanks a mill! Sending loads of love :)
Totally!
me too
This is a fantastic video to show people the basics of cooking. These mother sauces can be used in so many applications and as the basis of so many recipes. I’d love to see more videos of veganized French basics. Great video
Love how you guys get so excited about everything you are doing, so much funny lingo and devotion to your craft!
This is amazing! This is the best channel ever. You two are so creative.
Thanks so much!
I love your positive, energetic and playful videos...I’m transitioning to more plant based eating habits...thanks for being so inspiring😎
Ah brilliant to hear Sherry, well done! :)
Thanks for the hollandaise sauce .... Wow, it looks easy when you two did it, so I think I'll try.
...watch you guys all the time..Your French pronunciation is spot on..Love it..bless up.. From Québec Canada
Merci 💚👍🏼😄🇨🇮
Hi and thank you from Toulouse, France for these great 🌱 sauces recipes. :)
Thanks Thomas delighted to hear
Looks really nice and for sure the taste will be yummy. Thanks for sharing..
Thanks a mill
Well done beautiful sauces! Glad your teaching everyone the basics. Would you do some more ‘fine dining’ videos please? Loved the ‘scallop’ mushrooms video❤️
Will do thanks Derryn 👍🏼😄
This is great thankyou✨
To make a vegan version of French sauces is a very ambitious task! Proud of you!
Love your channel and your energy. Thanks from Italy
Thanks so much!
You dudes are so helpful, charming, talented and funny as hell. 🙏 will make all 3.
Messieurs, vous avez mis du soleil dans ma journée ! Merci beaucoup ! 😄
Delighted to hear thanks Carine 👍🏼😄💚
The first one is great if you season it as a breakfast gravy and pour over American style biscuits. LOVE the hollendaise, been trying to figure out how to make that one vegan forever...mmm.
Dave!!!!! Your back!!!! :D I love the topic today! I think it's great to teach people a common base/skill like these sauces empowering them to make multiple recipes vegan :)
For me, Hollandaise can't be beat! But they are all lovely and excellent for any cook to know :)
There are a few vegan chicken stock recipes floating around the Internet (I like the ones by Connie's Rawsome Kitchen and Bryanna Clark Grogan), but I bet you two could step up to that challenge if you tried :)
Brilliant, thanks so much :)
Merci! Je vais certainement essayer ces recettes, la béarnaise en premier!
Tres manifique!(sp) You guys rock!!! Thank you for adding these sauces to your plethora of vegan recipes! Love you two!😙
Thanks Beth 💚
Hi guys!
I'm a vegetarian trying to become fully vegan. I use bechamel sauce quite often but will try your version.
Never made hollandaise sauce before but will definitely give a go after seeing how easy it is.
Thank you!
Super stuff hope you enjoy
C'est fantastique! Merci beaucoup mes amies 👍
Merci beaucoup, très gentil :)
Nice Basic video! Thxxx
Thanks Janna :)
You're seriously the best guys!
Thanks a mill Alex 👍🏼😄💚
I'd love some burger/sandwich topping ideas :)
Can you do some vegan sandwich and wraps recipes? On the go, portable meals you can eat cool - for springtime coming up!
Thank you so much
Thanks Niamh :)
Merci les gars! 😊
De rien 😄👍🏼
Merci beaucoup, mon amis!
De rien Som 👍🏼😄
As if I'd been waiting for this! =D
Hot ! Everyone should learn how to make these 3 sauces...they are staples to general good cooking and you make them super easy, so anyone can do it.....many thanks.👌😋
Delighted to hear thanks 👍🏼😄
Superbe les gars, thanks for this. I thought you put yeast flakes in the bechamel last time out...I copied it and it works a treat. P.S...Any chance of some raw stuff?
Will work on it thanks Kev
Coola boola fellas, many thanks - I look forward to it.
This video made me laugh like every 10 seconds. 😂
Is the hollandaise just eaten cold? I think I would like it better heated up but will that mess up the emulsion?
Just be careful as it heats it wants to separate 👍🏼
Heat very gently! You don’t want it to break.
I've been making 2 of these my entire life cause my Ma taught me to make the since I was very very young.
Wow thats so cool :)
So cool sounds like you’re mom was a good cook 👍🏼😄💚 thanks for watching
@@thehappypear My Ma was one of a kind and an AMAZING cook. She had worked in restaurants for almost 50 years so I grew up in them and my kids did a little too. She paid me the HIGHEST compliment one time and said that I was a better cook than her and I started to cry because I always thought the was. Everyone misses her and her cooking.
Bonsoir from France!
Bonsoir! :)
Oui Oui !!! bonjour, ca vas bien!! You make me smile .........
Delighted to hear thanks Colette
Lads, that Hollandaise looks lush!
Thanks Beth it tasted fab too
French speaker here... Amazing, you guys cracked me up! Your French is top notch 😉
Aha brilliant, thanks Sarah :)
Hi dudes. I discovered you recently and I love your channel. I've recently become vegan and I'm thrilled. But as a Belgian I have the problem that I like to eat fries, it is our national pride. Unfortunately, the sauces are all fat-based. Do you have any sauce suggestions for my fries that I can make myself?
Could you do some gluten free meal prep for the week or talk about gluten free dishes more I recently have to go glutenfree for medical reasons and I am a bit lost and could use some signature family friendly dishes or advise on how to swap things over like tips and tricks. Thanks so much
Hey :) A lot of our recipes would be gluten free, like our chickpea curry, lentil bolognese, dahl... And any recipe that does contain ingredients which have gluten, it's usually really easy to use gluten free alternatives, e.g. gluten free flour, gluten free pasta... Hope this helps :)
@@thehappypear thanks so much! I am new to gluten free lifestyle so I will look back through your videos with a fresher perspective. Does your cookbooks have substitutes in recipes incase I question it. I have so much to learn. Love your channel so much
Pretty much one of the vegan channels these days, and there are a lot😄👏🏽
👍🏼😄
The hollandaise sauce looks really good but I am sceptic about this béchamel sauce... It should be so much thicker 🤔
You can just reduce to what ever level of thickness you desire it’s a very adaptable sauce it’s more about the technique
just use less liquide (aka less non dairy milk)
@@saschathinius7082 in theory, no matter how much (oat) milk you put, thanks to the roux, the sauce thickness naturally, if you let it cook just a little bit on low heat. At least, that's how my mum does it and I do the same (but with vegan ingredients obviously). 😉
But as they suggest in the video, if you want to use it as pasta sauce, less thick is better.
@@Elonhes : tnx for your comment, i'm also blessed with a mom who used to be a professionell restaurant chef
I'm not vegan or even vegetarian (please don't be mad at me!) But I really enjoy you channel, you've got so many great recipes and I just love your content. My partner is vegan and I've struggled to cook for him for a while. I've found so many recipes here that work for both of us, it's rare I actually cook using products made from animals these days as you've taught me so many alternatives. Big thanks for that 😁 Keep up the good work lads! I look forward to giving this one a go an all
Delighted to hear thanks so much! Well done 👍🏼😄💚
Ah that's brill, sending loads of love ;)
I agree with you. I love these guys because of their humour and sense of fun and the fact that the make quick tasty meals that all of us can do.
Some vegans do ultra fancy stuff like Avantegarde vegan, who I do love, but realistically his food is restaurant quality fancy stuff, not good old home cooked meals like these guys so although I love watching Gaz, I have never attempted any of his dishes.
Making holindaise asap 😍
Good on you Al
It's true
You are crazy but happy positive crazy and nice guys
Haha thanks Niamh :)
Bonjour, je vous suis depuis un moment. Mais personnellement je ne fais pas ma sauce béchamel vegan comme ça ;)
Ca marche! Merci
Bit harsh that Steve reckons his brother, with whom he has co-written three recipe books, doesn't count as being one of "those who are into food"! :P
I thought hollandaise was supposed to be thinner than mayo?
Bravo les garçons haha
Le wow!
Ha ha merci 👍🏼😄
A breakfast crumpet?
It’s a quick version of eggs benedict which has a hollandaise sauce - worth trying if you can 👍🏼😄
@@thehappypear alright I'll try it soon. I do need to start cooking soon
@@thehappypear I so need a breakfast crumpet in my life! What a great idea! :)
Someone did not work hard enough in their French lessons at school...But A* for the accent!!
TIL hollandaise is basically mayonnaise.
Table spoons=Qwee yair à soupe ;)
sauce hollandaise
It wouldn't be le olive oil
It'd be l'olive oil
👍🏼😄🙌🏼
It actually is: l'huile d'olives...
The bechamel lacks body! Plant butter instead of oil.
Far as I'm aware you two are teetotalers but Steve almost seems drunk here! Anyway, big fan.
I wish you guys would make a vegan spaghetti sauce with no blending of ingredients, like no blender only fresh ingredients.
We shot a video a few weeks ago of exactly this - check it out 👍🏼😄
yeaux deuds
Very good! Love it x x
So in light of this, would I buy another Happy Pear book or anything related to them? Emphatically NO! Would I recommend them to anyone? Emphatically NO!
"Franch"
Guys! Really? 2.5 minutes in and it is clear that you’ve added something else to the sauce. Just look at the volume of the sauce in the pan before and after!
Franch cooking 🤣
Please guys, talk French more often :)
Will do thanks Marc
It's shameful that you have taken the recipes off from your website for so many of the videos. I had them bookmarked to make make in the future. The only reason I can think that you would do this is because you want people to pay you money. That's a shame. I've already bought one book by cannot afford more. Especially, during the pandemic. It's shocking you would do this to your fans at such a difficult time in history.
