If you're new here, hi! I'm Jess, a former over-achieving restless soul that is passionate about helping women cultivate contentment exactly where they are, especially amidst motherhood. I post about slow living, minimalism, my faith, and honest motherhood. If you're into that, join me and a tribe of women looking to reject restlessness and step into joyful fullness by subscribing and joining the community. I'm glad you're here:)
Is there anything you’re choosing to intentionally not partake in this year?
No new clothing, no new purses, coffee/tea drinks, no new books or book club memberships.
Thanks to you we are going to be a one car family. I'm no longer worried about getting a second car. 🤍
-one use kitchen gadgets or appliances
-asking family members to not buy any souvenirs for us from their travels. And buying souvenirs from our own travels
-Plug ins for air fresheners
-wooden kitchen utensils that have lacquer coating
@@jessicarothley no more buying clothing detergent , I started making my own . Tv subscriptions , unnecessary skincare
I´m choosing to only buy things that I really need.

"that's okay, I can wait" my new mantra for everything, not just books. Honestly. Your videos are so wholesome. Thank you for sharing your tips and advice ❤️
Oh I’m so glad it’s helpful!
Love the library! I sign up online for my favorite authors’s books before they are published, so I am early on the hold list. My husband and I are big readers, we could never afford all the books we read. Thanks.
Honestly you create the most real and inspiring content!
Wow thank you!!😊
You have become one of my favorite UA-camrs!
Same here!!
Oh thank you!

Everything is realtive...we are older and my husvand loves a cup of coffee when we are out, maybe once a week. He enjoys it and I enjoy watching him! One can be wise and not go out everyday for that cup of whatever you like. We pace ourselves and instead on NOTHING in certain categories, we are flexible, enjoy life, and continue to be wise with the money we worked hard for. I do put restraints on myself when it come to UA-cam "influencers", "Amazon" hauls and ALL their hauls!!!!!
One thing that keeps me in line if wanting something, is asking myself "Am I buying this thing for myself, or for imaginary me?"
Mostly, it isn't for real me😅
...
I love your content, thank you❤
I totally get this! And thank you so much!
Ahhhhh that #5 is a tough one for meeeee ☕😁 . Love your list. Makes me think about my own spending. Thank you!
I just learned about making forever candles with Cisco. I’m using up all my dented candles. And gonna refill them with new wicks and Cisco. Also found cute craft where you Mod Podge the outside of the glass, top with glitter and put in tea lights. So cute!
Good list! I also stopped buying seasonal decor and got rid of most of what I had. I can bring something in from outside, or better yet, go outside instead of trying to bring the outside in!
Shopping (besides the financial drain) can consume so much time and mental energy. Even if we are not buying things daily, how much time is spent each day thinking about buying, comparing, looking for the best deal, etc? Having a no- buy list can be so freeing!
yes! I'm finding that the case with this list! It's helpful to keep me accountable
I am currently a SAHW (Stay at home wife) & such a homebody anyway, so I can dress more casually & comfortably. Just coordinating outfits for Church, my husband's family, etc. meetups & running errands... 😊❤So, I have plenty to wear!
Clothes, shoes & accessories; makeup & toiletries!!
The only exceptions are replacements for well-loved & worn out or used up items.
Also, being new to the Southwestern US & its upcoming very hot Summers, I will invest in some linen items. Using hair & skin moisturizing items a lot & sunscreen more often than when living in Midwestern US ❤
Thank you as usual, Jess, for your applicable, relatable content. ❤
You are my discovery of the year, I have a 8 old month baby at home and your video open my eyes how to welcome motherhood !!
Thank you so much for your content ❤
Oh that fills my heart!
I love that you touched on coffees out and candles - they’re my weakness, too! 😆 And I have made the decision for no new candles, this year, and very few bought coffees 😬
The juxtaposition of such a tumultuous picture behind such a calm person always gets me.
😂
Wow, great observation!! 😊❤
I LOVE this list !!!!! ❤❤❤
Definitely going to make a physical no buy List to remind myself! Also prioritizing workouts from home with weights to get stronger- would love to see a video on that and your minimal skincare routine! Not buying anything skin body or hair this year til I finish my graveyard of products 😵💫
This is a great list! We're also doing a low-buy year and I have a lot of the same things on my list! Supplements...ugh! I will be using and loving some and then get convinced that i *need* this other kind.
yes i know! why can't we just be content with what we have haha
Love your content♥️
Love the realness in this! I can relate so much to this video and your life. Since becoming a mom 5 years ago so much has changed in my life. My style, likes and dislikes…
I’ve been switching to minimalism and simplicity and couldn’t be more happier!
Ahh that's amazing!
I love how real you are in your videos, Jessica! I 100% agree with you, high rise jeans are a no! Tight workout wear is also a no since becoming a Mom. I had to laugh when you said your daughter wont wear the cute outfits you buy bc my 3 y.o. son is the same way. I am on a super cheap clearance or thrift store only clothes for my son this year. No point in buying something he won't wear!
Haha yes! They have strong opinions😂
Jess, we have so much in common. Thanks for keeping it real, I love hanging out with you!
thanks for being here Kim! ❤️
Yessss my fav content!!!!
I'm also doing a super low buy year so my husband and I can build our business without needing to work anywhere else. Good luck. Thanks for the info and inspiration.
Workout clothes is a big one. I realize I always just wear the leggings that I wear every day.
I only get my weekly coffee out and I'm figuring out how to make coffee I actually enjoy at home. I can even make cold foam with my machine.
I wish we had good local meat near me, I should look into seafood though, and how that's handled here.
I'm trying to use the Little Free Library instead of buying physical books. Our library sucks, unfortunately. Even using Libby with my library card sucks 😔
I literally have a prepaid phone, it does everything any other phone does and it was $35 and I pay $50 for a year plan and buy extra data for $10 two or three times a year.
I'm working on returning things I don't love if I do spend the money on something.
Beeswax candle recs please. I don't need them now but I like to hoard the info for when I do need them.
I love all these! I get my candles from the person at a local farmers market who I also get bee pollen from. But I've also seen some from azure standard!
Yes to no more excess supplements! I have decluttered so many trendy ones I bought and I don't intend to buy any more.
Supplement graveyard 🤣 that's exactly it!
Love the list! so much money down the drain for WHAT ????? I only buy what I use and replacements.
I’d love to know what supplements you do love, it’s so hard to know what actually works well.
Do you have a video of your home gym? Or just what do you have in there??
As a Canadian, I will not buy anything made in the USA in 2025. Tariffs will hurt not only our country but also our lovely neighbours to the south.
US resident here: I was so disappointed to hear of these tariffs to Canada. 😳😐☹️😮🇨🇦
As an American, I agree and thank you!
I don't eat much beef but when I do, it's nothing fancy. Hopefully, Canadian beef is fine. My beloved Kirkland meatballs from Costco are a Product of USA though.
Where do you buy your organic kids underwear? I’ve been looking for my 4 year old. Love this list ❤
I love the brand tiny undies!
I love hanna Anderson, quince or gap kids if I’ve ever needed to grab something in person. For gap just make sure it’s their organic kind
Hanna Anderson makes wonderful children's underwear. So thick and soft and long lasting.
Thank you!
burts bees has organic cotton ones you can get on their site or amazon!
Love your channel ! Wondering what brand you found your organic underwear from ? I can never find good brands
I have a few from pact! I also have gotten organic cotton ones from Costco and amazon actually for very cheap!
@ thankyou !
Just want to share that duluth trading company makes fantastic organic underwear.
Raw milk?
Jess, we have so much in common. Thanks for keeping it real, I love hanging out with you!
I’m so glad you’re here Kim!
