The Dreamcast version is an unofficial port from Sammy Atomiswave, the arcade machine based on the DC. Where as the PS2 its an official product released specifically with console in mind with more options and content. Graphic wise both look very much the same

Both look equally sharp, and the Ps2 is displaying in interlaced mode. The olny graphical difference seems to be the Ps2 version been brighter than the DC and different color temp for the overall picture (may be a side effect from the different brightness)
It doesn't, it's an inferior version. First thing I noticed is the camera panning is not as pronounced, that's a big feature of these particular fighters. The other thing is the overall pop of the image, the PS version has much better contrast, or overall video output quality. Only place the PS version suffers is what it always suffered from and that's a lack of anti aliasing. Don't get it twisted, the Dreamcast beat out the PS2 in many other titles, this is just not the best example here.

like all arcsys games on ps2, this one can be forced to 480p, works flawlessly I had some crashes on the dc version, perhaps those crashes were fixed in later revisions. The button assignment was all strange on DC for playing with the joystick, but I think there were patches for that. Ha, I see it crashed on you too at the end of the video. I had 2 crashes pretty early on while playing on dc with MODE. I have fond memories of playing this game on ps3fat with family Great underrated gem, I am a big FOTNS fan
The Ps2 version can be forced to 480p? I remember i had tried to force it some time ago but it didn´t worked. I think the game uses field rendering or at least the front buffer does.

@@UncannyBubbleGum yep, 640x480 will always get its share of jaggies on Dreamcast and Ps2 but i think that was the reason the "antialias filter" was active by default, plus on a crt it also serves as "flicker filter" because those thin, sharp and bright outlines may get a strong "flicker" perception on a crt.
Hmm. Interesting. With this fan made Dreamcast port shows that Arc System's Guilty Gear could of found a home on the Dreamcast. Guilty Gear X2 and its versions could of been on the Dreamcast along with the Playstation 2 ports. Or a Dreamcast exclusive game. Could of happened. Awesome metal music like usual from Arc System.

Imagínate la versión de Ps2 se ve tan bien o incluso mejor que la versión de Dreamcast y eso que la Ps2 está mostrando video entrelazado (sin el filtro de antialiasing)
Cool to see this one. I love this game, and the original show. I've played the Atomiswave version quite a bit. I finally got to try the PS2 version. I had heard there were differences, but they were not as pronounced as I expected. I wasn't looking for missing frames in the PS2 version, but would have noticed major differences. The biggest thing I noticed was some changes to the audio. The PS2 had an added sound effect or two. It was fine, but I wouldn't say it was an improvement. If the PS2 version was the only version at all -- it is the only official home version -- it would be fine in my opinion. I do prefer the Atomiswave original though, but it may be because I was already accustomed to it.

If you're interested, VC. The YUV colour space is different to the RGB colour space, actually only capable of reproducing 35% of visible light, unlike RGB pure math values, which represents 100% of the spectrum.

Camera moves so little, that PS2 aliasing worries are barely visible. But shadows of the characters look jaggy on PS2. Overall, albeit visually oversaturated, PS2 -version looks surprisingly playable.
The Ps2 version looks brighter than the Dreamcast version even with the antialiasing filter on. Other then that and some color grading difference its basically identical. Also this shows how good interlaced video can look as the Ps2 version is using "inferior" interlaced output and the Dreamcast version should be in progressive VGA, i assume.

Dreamcast wins in graphics for me, I don't like the yellow filter in the ps2 version. But I played both versions and think both are good, I just prefer Dreamcast one for this detail, it's a little detail but it makes all the difference to me since this filter is in the entire game and I don't like it.

That is not anime accurate. There are no kicks in that move. That would be like showing Goku doing Vegeta's Gallick Gun hand gestures for a Kamehameha wave. Just ain't kosher.
Really? History judges winners by their sales not graphics. 160 million units PS2 units versus 9.3 million DC units. Even Nintendo's worst seller is still above the DC.

While some would say the "Dreamcast" port is superior, its unstable. It will crash from time-to-time. You can't do anything about it either, because its never been patched.
The only people who don't like it are the regular denizens of this channel. The ones who will look at a broken, or incomplete Sega version of a game and go "Well obviously the Sega version is superior!"
Popularity and sales are not aways quality metrics. Ps2 was the best seller and for me it was a great console, but for me it is still far from being the best console of its generation, imagine ever.

The DC image looks a tad sharper and cleaner, but the PS2 version is an official game that doesn't crash and offers more game modes and options.
It looks identical concerning sharpness, only the Ps2 looks brighter and displaying in interlaced mode.

Interlacing on PS2 is it's biggest flaw - no hiding that.

Aside from the PS2 version running in interlaced mode and text, everything else is same.
And looking very sharp in interlaced output without the antialiasing filter. It looks as sharp as the Dreamcast version running in progressive VGA mode.
Few frames were missing in PS2 version. Despite being a most powerful console, maybe they had to cut them in order to save memory space

That's because the Dreamcast version was ported from arcade hardware, and its not a perfect conversion.

All Guilty Gear games on Ps2 have them. And some other games on the Ps2 also have similar options to turn on/off some kind of screen filtering.
