You're developing an elk pattern like a tournament fisherman will develope a pattern for bass or walleyes. Nice. Makes perfect sense
Absolutely amazing information! Can really see the accountant’s mind at work analyzing the details.
I only have a few weeks before I head west! I am watching all the Randy I can. Thats for the great information!
Thanks Randy for sharing your knowledge! Been up chasing antelope this week but i cant stop looking up at the mountains for elk
I enjoy listening to Randy’s knowledge dump. You’re awesome Randy.
Randy great video! You provide a ton of information and pretty much assured me my hunting spots are where to start.
Very helpful information. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
Excellent teaching! Thank you for this video.
Thank you for sharing this great information 👍 The general public is getting more educated every year making the Elk even more difficult to hunt God's Blessings Randy and Team
Awesome information, thanks for sharing!
Me and my friends and family love your show 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
Listening to your podcast about the wildlife apocalypse, thinking about not seeing any elk on public lands in colorado the last few years. I wonder how much of the intrusion has to do with all of the apps/mapping software? You used to have the standard state atlas books, and then get a detailed paper map to explore without getting lost. Now, cellphones, gps units with everything, and couch scouting have given access to everyone.
Along with armies of ATVs, electric bikes, and on and on.
Great info! I started using the map and knowledge to prepare for 2 days or hard scouting using the information
Thank you for sharing your wealth of wisdom with us all. You are one critical thinking predator 👍👍
Excellent video Randy
i've armed myself with tons of information from both Randy and Corey. I still think the only elk I will see will be on private land or in town. Arrggg...
Im in the same boat brother but we gotta keep a positive attitude itll happen brother 🤘🤘
Call them.over bud!! Good luck out there !!

Great inforation, thanks for sharing! Im always looking for water in the Kootenays because its in short supply, how much do you focus on water?
Thanx
While this may be true for the most part. Some of the biggest Elk I've ever seen were thriving in arid country, among pinion/ juniper. It's amazing what kind of habitat Elk can live in.
Canadians still out of luck for this tool! Makes me a little grumpy because it’s so powerful.
Randy, Why would you be looking at bedding areas vs where they might be grazing?
is there a way to show road names on gohunt maps? If so i havent figured it out yet. I keep having to go back to onx to find road names.
What degree of angle were all those bulls laying on in your Colorado hunt where you shot the big bull on?
Randy, Just back from my elk bow hunt in Northern Utah. Water all over the place. Food all over the place. Shelter all over the place. Sign all over the place. But did not see or hear an elk. This was the last week of the hunt, specifically recommended as the best week of the year by Cory J. Could it be that the habitat was just too good? So much of everything they needed that they could simply go and be anywhere and it becomes just a question of right place right time? I went all over the place. Covered 26.5 miles in 3 separate day loops. Puzzling.
My guess would be that you were either too low or too high. You may have missed them by a few days. Extremely frustrating haha😅
How does water play into this formula in the heat?
Are these features not available on mobile bc they don't pull up for me
Need terrain analysis available on mobile maps
In general, how old is a historic burn too old for all the benefits of what draws elk to them, 10 years? 20?
I thought you just look for Grouse and if an elk happens to be there it’s a bonus 🤷🏻♂️
Is it a waste of time to hunt where there are cattle? A large percentage of our CO unit is covered with Moo cows. The grass appears pretty overgrazed. The area we hunt is a "wintering" habitat on the DOW elk migration info.
Cattle definitely hurt elk habitat by competing for the same food sources. Approximately the same height animal eating approximately the same thing.
Just know that when you have open range grazing the elk are in competition with the moo cows but the elk that I have seen are more aggressive and will kick the 💩out of the moo cows and push them out.
Thank you Randy great information! You talked about covering all 3 spots in one day are you constantly moving spotting and stalking or are you taking any time to sit and see what comes in?
Have you not watched any of Randy's videos?
Randy must have teamed up with Oprah cause THERE'S PRIZES FOR EVERYONE!!!!! DRAW tags for you and you and you NEW BOWS.... TRUCKS YA🤣🤣
