E-scouting is a huge advantage. Studied GIS in college, prior to ever hunting anything. Decided to hunt elk as my first hunt ever, without any mentors or assistance other than packers. Easily found ideal areas for elk based of time of year. Found a herd on day 4, had a bull packed out and hung up by end of day 5 thanks to this sort of thinking (all as a solo first timer!).
Thank you Randy for the great information on E Scouting 👍 The Go Hunt Team has taken this technology to a new level with you and Corey's help. God's Blessings on all your adventures
So what if you're looking at an area that is mostly thick timber and there aren't too many extreme slopes so they could be bedding almost anywhere? At that point do you single out the meadows to try to find the elk? And since elk feed from night to morning should I just take my sleeping bag and spend all night at each meadow until I find elk?
Randy, thanks for the info it was great. However, I believe you left any important element out of your list. Elk are large animals and require a lot of water and it's not always available in the feed/forage area. Just thought I would mention that.
@@ricklordon3248 here in Canada we don’t have any 3D options or landowner info as of yet anyway. They say they are planning to bring it to canada in the future
Google earth gives 3D of Canada right use that do a little research see if you can find a landowner map in a KML file and should be able to over later on google earth you won’t be able to take to the field. But you could still do deep dive escouting with it.
@@bradythayer7789 maybe I am just freaking out 😀 cuz I’m pretty new to hunting and got my first moose tag this fall. And I’m pretty much by myself when it comes to hunting and I really don’t wanna let my tag go to waste

You get lucky too.. my FIRST da I ever archery hunted I took a 5 pt bull at 40 yards (in a area you MIGHT see 10 elk a year)... LUCK
As usual randy has more information packed in his head than anyone else I’ve listened to

Video 2 needed!
I don't know if you've written books on this, but I'd definitely buy the books. This is a wealth of information, thank you.
Awesome! Been following on my map for my CO hunt in Nov
This is all great information! Thanks Randy! You are a wealth of knowledge on hunting!
Awesome info Randy! Thanks for breaking it down.
Great video Great info on E Scouting so much great tools out there thanks for sharing!
Well I’ve been looking at the wrong side of the mountain… thanks Randy
Can you make a mule deer e-scout video asap?
I wish OnX had that terrain tool. But it has a lot of features I use that I can't switch from it.
Thank you for the great information
would be awesome if you could do the same concept, except covering mule deer . Thanks Randy , much love from Idaho 🫵🏽🤘🏾
they're both deer. it's probably the same.
@@colepriceguitar1153different behavior , similar patterns . I get what you mean though, just wanted a muley focused version.
@@1duv why would the behavior be different? I guess the rut is at a slightly different time, that’s the only difference I could think of.
@@colepriceguitar1153 nevermind dude lol, they’re the same exact animal 😂
Hey, have they added Arkansas as a map option yet? That's what I'm waiting for really.

Randy, AZ pinion and juniper with no real North Facing slopes…Look for the thicker cover?
Is part 2 out yet?
Need this tool for white tail deer
Thanks Randy! Great useful content. When would you suggest starting field scouting a new area for a hunt in mid November?
Whenever you have free time
great content. so for first rifle season in colorado late October, would I focus on the same sides of the mountains?
As he said.. by that time the south, south east and west slopes have been hammered by the sun and dried up the good forage.
@@Lexidezi225 well, thanks for the response....

Would be nice is here in eastern Washington had more elk.
the whole state pour management, timber co. sleeping with the tribes, predator problems created by the state, spraying if the clear cuts .
Thanks for the great video! Where can I find part 2?
Coming on Thursday
@@Fresh_Tracks did this come out yet?
I wish I could get same mapping in canada too 😢
What are the Canadian options to do this? Why limit this tool?

@@bradythayer7789 ya you’re I can use google 3D but it doesn’t give me the options to use the slope filters. Just not as easy and convenient

Is this only available on laptop?
Some of the features only work on a computer yea. I’m looking into a new iMac lately cuz you can’t do it all on a phone
