- Listen to the ElkNut's August 23, 2019 seminar that he gave at the new Idaho Department of Fish and Game building in Nampa. Paul discusses his key early season elk calling tactics that have helped him and the rest of the ElkNut crew find such great success hunting over-the-counter, public land tags.
Paul Medel is my hero! Completely changed my elk hunting game.
Three years ive barely see them rifle hunting, bought a bow last fall, practiced all summer in my back yard, again barely seen or called in anything the first couple weeks, i was using a primos bugle with a rubber diaphragm and i could not get the tone or carry the sound, bought a mouth diaphragm and removed the mouth piece on my original bugle, watched a couple of your videos...6 bulls 2 days within 50 yards, a few were spikers, and the other on the fence line where i couldnt hunt but, this is coming together. thank you for sharing!!!! Paul your the man!!!

7 comments on some of the most passionately delivered information to help elk hunter be more successful. Too funny. I'm a fan.
3rd year in a row watching this video and trying to become Paul medal. Switched phones so just bought the app again. Worth every penny
Every time I listen to this simulcast I pick up something that is just I believe going to be the deciding factor towards success. This video is awesome! Paul is an elk killer and a wonderful teacher in hunting elk and communicating successful tactics. Love the slow play, the mindset, and the scenarios that he presents to adjust to any bull elk that crosses your path. Thank you again for this video!
My word this guy looks good at 64. Keep it up man.
I thought the same. What a stud. Inspiring to see him still going strong.
This information is pure gold
Had to miss this event live due to anniversary. Thanks for posting! Always great to listen to the ElkNut!
Man I just can't get enough of this video probably the 4th or 5th time watching, Paul Thanks for your time, passion and knowledge !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really good knollege
I ran into and met Randy Newberg this season, very outstanding dude! Now I just need to run into Paul while hunting in Idaho sometime!
Yes, Elk starts tomorrow. Thanks
Now its 15 days tell elk season Thanks
I can attest to slow playing a bull!! It works so good. I've had a bull come in from so far I could bar3lly hear his bugle. I had patience and he came itntook him an hour but he came!
What bugle is he using and what's the name of his application? Man, I sure have a lot of practicing to do. Opening day is August 30th. I'm going to try to learn all these sequences and try them out!
He's using a phelps bugle tub in this seminar. App is called the ElkNut app. New update to the mobile app is coming soon, and you can preview that update at our website: elknut.app. Let us know if you have any questions. Thanks!
@@gotgametechnologies1067 Thanks! I got the app already! I love it!
I remember when you said there wasn't a "bark." Js....
i cant download the app! im hunting this season in a place there is elk here
He mentioned the blind calling sequence in his app. Could you do the slow play sequence in a “blind” scenario where you haven’t heard any elk but you try the slow play in a spot where you know they bed?
Yes, he has said in podcasts that he would use it as a blind calling sequence.
what orenge caller is that? amp?
This guy is a flipping elk anthropologist

ok tell me what you do when the bulls are silent because of predictors wolves ans cougars is there still a way to call them i am in the Okanogan in Canada .
Roger a, we have the same problem here in Saskatchewan...way too many wolvew
Start shooting the wolves

I think elk know how to call on their own! I don't think they need a seminar! I mean really, what next are you going to have a ponderosa pine seminar and peach trees to be green? What are you do provide the elk with a whistle? Well there's a big difference you know between the I want to fight you sound and I want to f u sound so I sure hope you get it right! Or there's going to be a lot of unhappy elk hanging around your front yard!
What nonsense are you saying? 🤷🏻♂️
It sounds like it's too easy for him.
Miktub Paul is a perpetual optimist! But I can assure you that it’s a grind either way! Best of luck this season!
Now who are you again i mean why are you the supposed go too elk guy I've used anything from a strw too my own whistle too call in elk I've got an elk almost ever year since I was a kid and never heard any of the elk acting like this but I guess we all doin it wrong and I'm way over 100 percent..
If you are congratulating 🎉
Ok guy
the guy just making it all seems complicated just to immerse himself in
In fact, no hunter in Asia hemisphere do these, and they still kill every four legged being around without giving out a sound with homemade bow or a throwing spear
It's a known fact the way American grown up, it make them like children... still to their adulthood still pretend playing in scenario with non existent things... Kind of cute to be honest (why i love Americans.. they are like children to us)

I can't believe how accurate Paul is . It's unbelievable now being in the elk woods with this knowledge. Paul you changed my life thank you
what is missing is cow elk calling
Please do something like this for October scenarios. I'm just starting out and will be in Idaho for a rifle hunt. I need all the help I can get. His content is unparalleled!
I'm just curious, what unit did you hunt and did you have any luck?
This really works early i listen to this friday the 10 of sept and on saturday the 11th i did exactly what this guys says dropped a 5x6 rosie northwest oregon this guy real deal i spotted this guy called him from about 250 yards away got a shot at 53 yards he came in raging rite to me
Paul is the Elk whisperer. so much great info. This is the 10th time watching.
I didn’t grow up hunting, although in 2016 my son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. So I began teaching myself how to hunt because my boy can eat all the game meat he wants without having to give himself an insulin shot. I haven’t filled an elk tag yet, although the info in this video is the best I’ve come across in my journey of learning. Thank you so much! I feel I’ll have much better odds this year!
Next best thing you can do is just get out there... There is plenty of vehicle access to camp out & run around having fun trying to call elk... A $5 wiffle ball bat made into a bugle tube & a 3 pack of elk calls are about $20 - Works.....
This is awesome!! Don't give up! You'll get better and better every year!! Archery elk is a blast.......but a rifle cow tag is your freezer filler!!
Hmu
Two year update, how did you do?
I'm curious as well! Hopefully you have better luck than I do.
What does he mean with the numbers? 2-3-4-5-6. Is he talking about dates in September?
Slow play discussion starts at 26:16
Paul is a special elk hunter and great guy that will tell you like it is. I have the highest respect for the knowledge he has and so glad that he shares this knowledge.
After watching this I just realize that I’ve just been lucky! Wow can’t wait to start practicing these tactics
Great talk and source of information. Thanks a lot ...But SO ANNOYING and DISTRACTING the screen behind that changes all the time. I'm not sure who was doing it, but the guy should be attached, with his hands behind him
Watched this last night. Went out tonight. Pulled a bull out of its bed at 6pm. Came quite the distance too. No locate bugle on my end.
Tho he made me at 30yards. Think winded me. Didn’t get to see him as he never created the hill.

Got the App, practice when I am driving. Thank you!
Every time he says slow play I get a woody
Stop.
What tube are you using for the glunking sound?
John Luebker it’s a small thicker plastic tube about 1.5 to 2 inches in diameter. Looks like a vacuum tube, lol!
John Luebker lol looks like a whiffle ball bat.
Here’s an option

Thanks for the great info.I will be trying some of your tactics this season.
Good stuff Paul! Love it! Can’t wait for September!
How do I get back in my account if I don't know what email I used to log in I accidentally hit the log out button.
Go ahead and set up a new account with the email address you want to use. If you have any trouble, please contact us at tayler@gotgametech.com.
Thank you for all the insight
Step one, take any hoochie mama and blue tees tipped call and throw it in the garbage.
Lol! The bull in my pic was called into 15 yards with a hoochie mama (I hadn't learned to use a diaphragm call yet). They definitely work but I absolutely prefer diaphragm calls and a bugle tube. Good luck out there this season!
Good info to go in with next wk. thx
Seminar was great! I downloaded the app however the record feature dosen't allow me to listen to my recording. Any way to fix this?

This was funny!

Paul is an icon in the elk world. I wish he would stay on topic-he jumps around too much. From a listener perspective, he needs to calm down and have an outline and stick to it.
Take notes and listen multiple times. What do you expect from someone who calls himself the ElkNut! Lol
