    I recently ran my first race for my senior year this indoor track season running the 55mh. My time was 8.3 (qualifying is 8.2). My biggest problem has been my speed in between hurdles it’s as if I’m galloping, but over the hurdles I’m fine as long as I keep my lead leg tight. Any advice for being quicker in between the hurdles and staying in that sprint mindset?

      You should be sprinting 4-5 times a week! 4x4x100m sprints is a good workout, so is 5x200m sprints, and 5x60m sprints as well. Sprinting faster is the fastest way to improve your 3-step rhythm. Other than that, id have to see some video of you hurdling at full-speed, to let you know how else you can improve! I hope this helps! Feel free to send me the link to a video if youd like some feedback!

    As a person going into high school, i do not use a starting block. Is there any tips you have for people starting without a block?

    • @Sprinthurdles
      @Sprinthurdles  3 роки тому +1

      You can start with a 3pt stance. Take 8steps through hurdle #1, and really work to develop an easy and consistent sprint through hurdles #1 & #2. After you can do that consistently, you will find that transitioning to the blocks is pretty easy. If you have video you can share the link right here in a comment, and I can give you better feedback! I hoep this helps! good luck!

      I assume you eventually ended up using blocks for anyone else who reas this comment though I would recommend using blocks for high school it's gives a good advantage over people who don't use blocks if you get your block starts down good it's basically free time to gain

    Hey coach Cotto. I feel that if I sprint as fast as I can in between the hurdles I won’t make it to the next hurdle, as if I would be too far to properly clear the hurdle. Perhaps it’s a mental thing and I haven’t actually videotaped my self so I’m assuming everything. Do you have any advice for this? Thanks.

    • @Sprinthurdles

      Place the hurdles 3ft closer than they would normally be in a race, and practice moving your feet as fast as possible. H1 is at normal distance all others are 3ft closer. So hurdle 2 is 3ft closer and H3 is 6ft close and H4 is 9ft closer etc. once you can cover that distance easy, move down to only 2ft closer… that’s the process you take all year long until you can 3-step the regular distance easy. I hope this helps. Good luck!

    Hi Coach, I’m an hurdler at the beginning of his career, my question is about my height: I’m 175 cm, which is 5 feet 9 I think, am I tall enough for the 110m hurdles or should I try with 400m hurdles with lower hurdles?

    • @Sprinthurdles
      @Sprinthurdles  2 роки тому

      You are tall enough for both in high school. You should focus on both

      @@Sprinthurdles Thanks, after high school am I tall enough? I know there are some hurdlers who are tall around 175-178 cm like Allen Johnson or even shorter like Ronald Levy

      @@simonegranelli4009 some of the fastest high school hurdlers I know are below 5'9 it really just depends on speed if y9u have the speed to three step you don't need long legs to overcompensate for lack of speed
