    As a new hurdle coach. I love this content! I find that a lot of my logic is parallel to these videos and they are a great barometer check!! Can’t wait for the troubleshooting content!

    Good content Coach! I have a quick question for you - what's the distances between the speed hurdle drill? Do you modify it by making adjustments so that can do 3-steps or what?

    • @coachwelly
      @coachwelly  Рік тому +1

      The distances vary, but a rule of thumb is to cheat the hurdles enough so that the kids are feeling the sprinting rhythm instead of simply "3 stepping." Boys cheat to 8.5-8.7m meters, and for girls 7.5-7.9 meters. All depends on your athlete.

    Hello Thank you so much for this video. How many times a week do you usually have hurdle days? A couple of my girls are strictly hurdlers

    • @coachwelly
      @coachwelly  Рік тому

      You are very welcome .
      2-3x a week. Usually 2. The other 2-3 days they are sprinters.

    Do your athletes complete the same warm up on non-hurdle days? Great content as always!

    • @coachwelly
      @coachwelly  Рік тому

      No. We have 3 different warm ups. Hurdles, Panther (which is the everyday, general), then we have a. Comp or sprint warm up. They only do hurdle warm up on hurdle days.

    How often should they practice hurdles if they do other events and we practice only 3 days a week? Like the open 200 or 400?

    What's the distance from where the athletes start to the first hurdle in the 1 step drill and/or speed hurdles drill

    • @coachwelly
      @coachwelly  Рік тому +1

      1 step drill- 12 feet. You want to go from a two step approach to really start attacking the hurdle.
      Speed hurdles from the start line (13.0m) girls (13.72) boys.

    Hello Coach what distance do you use between the hurdles on the 15, 18, 21 drill

    • @coachwelly
      @coachwelly  Рік тому +2

      15ft, and or 18ft, and or 21ft.
      You can keep them all at once distance, or you can extend to force your athlete to sprint off the previous hurdle, Into the next.

    how many reps of the 15-18-21 drills would you recommend?

    • @coachwelly
      @coachwelly  Рік тому

      It all depends on your goal. I tend to have things segmented for 5-8 hurdles. I may go 3 trial, leg, and over top. I could go 5. All depends on the goal of the session.

    Amazing video! How do I increase the frequency of my 3 steps in between the hurdles?

    • @coachwelly
      @coachwelly  6 місяців тому

      Keep the hurdles close and as you increase in frequency, also increase the distance gradually, and repeat.
