2:06 get another drumstick
lol nostalgic corpse paint fanboys are a sensitive bunch... their BM subculture is being disturbed and they no likey!
hilarious...
wot
@CLANGxx Have you? You really think this bands music is easy to play? I've had a tougher time with it than many typically "hard to play" songs from many metal bands, myself. It's not the hardest stuff ever, but who cares? I think it's very well made. You've gotta have a bit more understanding when it comes to others' opinions man.
I SPY A V-NECK
@2:04 hahahahaha! drummer made a mistake but he still good.
great performance btw
Their so called “burst beat” is so weak compared to blast beats. transgender black metal? the f
this is awesome. the fact that so many people are afraid to embrace it makes it even better. reminds me of the old days when BM was shunned by everyone and not available on t.v. and at your local wal-mart. keep hating this, it makes it better for the diehards!
damn you can't even see the sticks in greg fox's hands when he hits some of those burst beats
Corpse paint is overrated... Great performances and music will always reign supreme over visual presentation.
Not gonna lie, watching this video and it's no surprise Hunter became trans. She were feminine as hell even back then. Like, I would've totally thought that was a girl if I hadn't known otherwise at the time.
I find it funny that the same people who criticize Liturgy for their philosophy having nothing to do with their music itself also criticize them for not wearing corpse paint, which coincidentally has nothing to do with the music itself neither. Take pleasure in the music instead of basking in your kvlt-ness.
That chick in the hipster v neck is HOT.
Hilarious seeing comments from back when people didn't think corpse paint was lame as shit lmao
@JuddCaster No, I'm saying that costumes don't make the band/musician. I don't watch bands for how cool they look on stage. And it's nobody's territory... That's like me saying that euro's ripped off american death metal/thrash etc from the 80's/90's. Does it really matter at this point where the origins of black metal come from at this point? And why can't black metal evolve in to something else? Do you really want to see the same BM format (i.e. costumes/makeup/grime feel) over and over?
@nayrnyc It's good music, caring about what "scene" it's in is the most poser thing I can imagine.
Super different black metal
0:43...HOW DOES HE MAKE HIS HANDS MOVE SO FAST
@masternewbz117 wolves in the throne room is like the generic BM template. it's simple, expected minor chord progressions with nothing that sounds remotely new or interesting.. just typical pacific northwestern grunge-influenced sludge riffs intertwined with run-of-the-mill norwegian tremolo riffing. immortal, burzum (old) and wittr all try to embrace a depressive, evil, earthy vibe. i prefer BM-influenced music that is uplifting, powerful, bombastic, ecstatic, aetherial, etc... to each his own
drummer rules
55 weren't watching Greg
This band gets so much hate. It's sad really. But I think they are great, it takes more than one listen to fully appreciate it, but it's definitely worth it. This , at least for me is one of the few black metal bands I can tolerate. Great band! Cheers:)
I don't care for this shot but that drummer is fuckin legit.
weeelll mostly you have black metal, NS black metal, Tolkien black metal, Strawberry black metal. what we have here is UO black metal (urban outfitters metal)
i love this
@masternewbz117 they call the style "transcendental black metal" which is a mouthful and i think unnecessary. obviously this music has gone far beyond BM and unfortunately far beyond the comprehension of many BM fans. this is exactly what the cesspool of stagnant norwegian copycat BM needs. it needs an equal and opposite reaction. positive, climactic and irreverent to what bm is "supposed" to be. bm had it's day and it's been over with for well over a decade.
@willabema Fair enough, but I enjoy their music.
@willabema People taking a sensitive attitude towards metal sub-genre's is NOT what metal is about. It doesn't have to be within ANY construct. Metal pushes boundaries. If you want to "stay within the context of the genre" form a pop-rock band and try and get signed by a major label. It's pointless. Total expansion...fuck what people think about it. That's more metal than the "truest of true blackened whatever" honestly.
Good live performance but I dont get why they think they're so different. Sounds like the same old shit with happier chords, almost like a black metal version of the fall of troy lulz
@willabema "Look, metal is not about throwing out the books and writing your own."
I disagree. Metal should never be about following a system or "going by the books." This isn't "tradition music" or "orthodox music" nor is it "textbook music." It's metal! Who cares what they are classified as? There's an extent of taking this way too seriously, life itself even, that you're falling into.
Yes though, HHH's comments again traditional black metal do him no favors, but still...who cares?
someone should tell the bassist its not the 90s anymore
Lol Dick Munky
@jackcarver239 after browsing your favorite videos your opinion now means absolute NIL. Heh... plus i dont care.... this is a good song.... nothing complex..
@TheAntiCosmic haha! yea i can see that. i prefer my music with more mystique. i don't want to know what the musican looks like or what their personality is like.
@ouderland no offense but i found that album rather poor.... generic... neurosis it is not :D
@JumpJennyJumpp But Darkthrone started off as a death metal band, and the only death metal band that I know of that wears corpse paint is Behemoth.
@willabema Music enjoyment and interpretation is subjective and evil is a subjective concept or one that is a label for unkind actions that gets interpreted and hyped into some "mystical force." It makes absolutely no difference what the people look like or what "trend" they do or don't fit into. Your opinion of their music would actually be different if they dressed in corpse paint and talked about satan (though you won't admit it) which is actually more poser-like than them, in every way!
@willabema There's nothing "true" about whining about what is and isn't "true black metal"...grow up.
@jackcarver239 You don't like it so you think it sucks. Good for you. Honestly, many people love it for very good reasons.
OMG BEST PART 2:26
I don't even care what genre they are "truly playing." If someone can get something meaningful to them out of this music just as some can from any genre of music, who cares?
god forbid they play in eastern europe or south america. people take the metal very seriously there and they might start a riot. lol
shinobitech13 oh my god yes they do. Iron Maiden has a cult following in India. As well
@JuddCaster I think getting mad about music that other people are making is disingenuous to begin with, actually.
@xRmillx It's still black metal
there are shittons of other bands like watain, and inkisitor that wear corpse paint
@CLANGxx Where is your music? That's right, didn't think so...
I don't even care. This is fucking awesome.
Can you guys go back to being BIRTHDAY BOYZ?????
Gay beyond words compare it to the new Shining (Swe.)
@ouderland OMG The new Shining is fucking amazing.
@nosajason how am i a victim when i'm enjoying myself?
This is such a tight performance fuk
@AromaticDogwood feeds the victimhood complex.
@Clisthert66 who says they're black metal?
@Necrometer V-necks are comfortable, bro.
that high hat is fucking intense.
what a nerdfest comments
@TheZuah
Agreed absolutely!!
symphonic sweeping sound i like
Absolutely nasty.
@shockofhyperbole
Carach Angren wears corpse paint
Plus they fucking suck
wow
Este mundo esta cagado!!!!
@mattlepokora WHITE METAL!!! LOVE IT.
@masternewbz117 i know, and that's the problem. it never went anywhere. it's still the same recycled shit we've all heard since the 90's. norwegian BM was relevant in the 80's and early 90's, but it's just a novel relic now. that time has passed. it's a rotted corpse. this is something different and it should be commended as such by those who realize it.
Worst band.
I love how the bassist lets out a long breath after this performance "This shit is hard to play!"-love or hate this band-you have to recognize they have much cohesion and skill in their instrumentation...
@masternewbz117 antestor, from what i remember still try to sound like a run-of-the-mill norwegian BM band. yea, brutal i suppose, but that's not the aspect of BM i'm after anymore. my tastes have changed to melody, harmony and epic climax, etc. as for the sludge comment; yes wittr have slow sludge-like riffs and then it goes back into norwegian style bm
Imagine they are a 12-inch 33⅓ rpm vinyl, played on 78 rpm. Now play them on normal speed and all of a sudden it starts to sound conspicuously like AMENRA, which (while - to please the label fetishists - not black metal but sludge) are awesome. So why not stick to them razoreaters from Belgium from the beginning :-> ?
black pop metal, but nice
the drummer is fucking awesome
It's just the girl soft poses that get to me..... other than that it's different approach to BM that i can appreciate
Well the lead singer ended up transitioning to F lol
singer sucks can't understand but the sound of everyone else is good
burst beats = blast beat - being able to play a blast beat
