Something I've never said before but guys, Spencer Seim is a fucking amazing guitarist. Imagine keeping up with fucking Zach Hill and playing THAT! Fucking take you eyes away from Zach for three seconds and watch.
Hey, I was at that show. How random to see it now on youtube years later. You can't hear it so much on the audio here but Zach Hill's right foot is impressively fast. I thought he was playing a double pedal, but it was all one foot.
Zach + Spencer (glorious beard + Fender SuperSonic amp) = the only known way to destroy the beast, Godzilla. The world is safe because of this band. Bow down.
to be fair, this IS Hella... this is how Hella started. Their newer music is a five piece, with vocals and whatnot, but their earliest stuff was just these two and it is amazing stuff. Not discounting their new stuff, but just to clarify on your point. :)
2nd songs is called hello great anarchist of the world ive hear the first one before dont recall its name 3rd is called big time and the kid they always play thoses right after eachother
i really think this is the best setup for hella, and zach hill. he deserves to be heard. 1 guitar is almost too much! but these 2 play so in sync, i would listen to just zach for 80 minutes if he made a cd. go check out Cryptomnesia!!! TMV/hella!
i think it started along the lines of "Kay, you spazz out on the drums as fast as you can, and i'll challenge myself to hit as many tritones as i can in 8 minutes, got that?"
it's math rock, which means the beat is constantly switching time signatures, making the song sound so different. also, anybody kno what that 1st song is? i kno the second is "hello great achitect of the universe"
HAHAHA "Is that let your heavies out?"... some people really need to start understanding what 5 musicians sounds like versus 2 musicians, before they even attempt to take on listening to a band like Hella. i wouldn't even know what to call that...disrespectful?
finally a guitar wizard who looks like a wizard

4:50 is what you came here for
Well I know plenty of people who would disagree with you on that last part.
I'm not one of them, but you know.
Is that Let Your Heavies Out?
its called "the mother could be you"
guitar players answer to lightningbolt?
It's no more repetative then your average rock song, :P
Just these guys have more talent then your average rock band ;)
astrological straits
