I was a PCVR-only gamer until I got the Quest 3. Now, I use VR much more often because it's so convenient. I can play wirelessly or connect to my PC with a USB cable for PCVR. I live in Europe, where we have the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), so I contacted Meta and demanded that they stop collecting telemetry data from my headset. They have about 10 days left to comply before it becomes a GDPR violation, and I will report them if they do not. I hope Meta has learned from the 1.3 billion dollars they have been fined in the past for not complying with the GDPR

The thing that makes Quest 3 so lovely are the lenses, they are even better than Varjo Aero, and the reprojection ASW is great for VRChat, it makes a difference in smoothness compared to the reprojection mode in HP Reverb G2, Varjo Aero or Pimax Crystal. I am returning it because I am going to keep my Varjo Aero for easy Full Body Tracking and Index controllers, but I will miss it :(
As a former commercial truck driver I long ago gave up any illusion of privacy. My location was tracked by the minute and I had to keep accurate records of where I was every day to submit to the government. Extensive work and residence histories had to be provided accounting for everywhere I lived and worked for the last 10 years and any unemployment time had to be verified. Fingerprints and background checks with FBI and Homeland for my hazmat endorsement. My truck could be stopped by law enforcement and searched at any time for any reason no warrant needed. I lived in my truck 300 days a year so in essence it was my primary residence. If google wants to know what I watch on my phone while taking a shit, so be it. I'm old, jaded and grumpy and just don't care anymore.
I don't really wanna have to pay a mixed reality and new hand tracking premium with less battery life, when they should of just had something like a quest 2 "elite" model with adjustable ipd, pancake lenses and maybe ~20% more fov earlier on. Now I'd rather wait and save up for when/if/ever valve releases something, cuz I sure don't wanna miss out on that opportunity
I was waiting for you to make an upload about the Quest 3 before actually committing to buying it after seeking advice in a comment in another video, great video of course!
I don't think the argument "you are already getting your data collected" is a good reason to discount not asking questions or caring about data collection. The same way saying no ethical consumption under capitalism exempts you from all moral responsibility. I would like to keep it a bit nuanced, the Quest 3 could still be a good deal, however discounting data collection because it already happens is not a strong argument.
I've used the PSVR for about 3 years until 2 years ago when my PS4 gave in. That experience alone was what got me in to VR I always wanted a valve index, but in Australia it is WAAAAY too expensive to get them imported, along with the general price the resellers are putting them at. I've ordered a Q3 along with the AMVR knuckle straps, an ANNA head strap since I've heard its not the most comfortable headset and a 20ft AMVR link cable, . I might update this comment when everything arrives and I mess around with the features and link
Everyone says that Valve Index is outdated in 2023. And it still costs what it did at launch. Quest 3 has better specs than the Index and costs less so it's probably a better choice. Although Valve is definitely a less controversial company than Meta, so if you wanna vote with your wallet against Meta then it's understandable too (still I think there are better options than the Index)
Really good video. I personally used the HTC Vive 1 used and bought the index controllers. I get offended when I do not get integrity in video games to choose freely how to act. Half Life Alyx's Jeff level is one of em where you can suddenly stand on the brick of the hole in the wall where the barnacle most likely will eat the power cell. Or other games where going off the path like GTA 5 and RDR2 will result in a fail when other games like thief, gloomwood and even still Dishornored (the game which can not be played when quest markers are turned invisble aka off) offer a genuine, immersive free experience. Deus Ex and System Shock 2 are similar. But I digress. 2nd Gen VR (if 1st gen is dev devices), are too low resolution for me to feel inside. My room does not support outside-in-tracking well but it offers nice things like Phasmophobia's under tables. Here is the actual comment. No one Should EVER give personal data for free. Saying '~because you play valorant, you should not complain about meta' is the most insane thing possible to say. You don't want to have a data thief sit in your living room and tell you he can eat your food too, because you signed an EULA agreement. Going out of our comfort spot takes a lot of time and work. Firefox currently has a lot of issues, either due to a faulty update or because companies try to destroy ad-blockers. These companies seem very but-hurt when it comes to getting the freedom partially back, like with ADnauseam, the ad clicker and hider. Clicking on ads costs money for the companies, btw. Going to Linux is either great or the worst thing ever, depending on the type of games the user likes. Me playing PS3 for my first time online, feels like back in the 360 days, where PCs only connected to one thing, the game servers or on consoles to a console server which grants access to the games' online components. Saying it is all over and you can't even "figure" out what item on Amazon is made and sold by a local company owned by in your case an USA company, is too much? Use cultivate to get cheaper deals. You don't want to pay Chinese shipping as a taxpayer, but here we are where everyone around the word has to pay the Chinese shipping costs because the UPU Universal Postal Union don't grand 3rd world counties the needed shipping cost relief. If people give up then dont get angry (generalized to everyone) when gaming will be a hourly pay to play and streaming services take over to be exponentially expensive in the future. Sailing the high seas to what LTT defines, is the best way to keep some freedom or even go further like to just play pre-always-online games.
I'm sticking with Quest 2 for a bit longer. I recently started using it without the facial interface thanks to the awesomeness of my BoboVR strap. It made a huge difference. I can play longer now and in better comfort because my face isnt all sweaty. Plus, it increased my FOV a bit! So yeah, for now, Quest 2 is still my daily driver. But I will get Quest 3, just not yet, I'm giving it a bit more time to develop. Great video as always!
I'm still waiting for something like the quest 3 but with microOLED screens like in the beyond. The problem is that the index is just to good of a package. Basically even years later it's at least good enough for all I want to do.
Oooooo nice avi additions mayne. I've had a quest 3 since it released and it's been great. I mainly use the quest 3 on PC/ VR cause I use Tundra trackers for full body. I'm just waiting on 3rd party head strap now. I really don't need $1,000 headset to enjoy vr. Great vid! Been waiting for this one!
Sorry to bother but I was wondering how good the quests 3 battery life is? I haven't bought a headset before but I know I'd probably play for at least a few hours when I can so I just wanna see if it's okay
Anyone who has the quest3 what did you do to make your vr last longer? I saw another video where a person said when he used link cable it did drain faster than it did without link cable and that some batteries even at 70% would still make quest 3 headset die
I love the full color paththrough on my pico 4 its good enough for quick peek about my surroundings this becomes a must have things on a headset for me from now on lol
The problem is: how long do I have to wait? I'm a games programming student who wants to specialise in VR development, and I've decided I'm going to get a PC for myself to work on. I have a quest 2 and that's doing it's work for now, but I want to upgrade from that to smth on the top of the line that will last me years. Sure, I might not need it right now or within the next couple of months, but I wanna know what components to get to accommodate for that next headset. I'm considering getting an aero, but holding off on it until I try it. I'm really hoping valve is cooking up smth good.
Scratched my lenses with my Glasses despite the facecover distance to max 😢 Also i think resolution isn't still quite there yet. Still see this fine mesh over everything with text looking grainy if they are too far away but MX gives you a glimpse into the future for sure.
I Totally Agree! I ❤️ My Quest 3. Now we just need these game developers to take advantage. For example, what if Sega made a Sonic VR game so I can really get moving in my VR legs. Or better yet, what if, Hasbro made a monopoly plus game in mixed reality. They could make every board game in MR I would buy em all. 😁👍
The head tracking in Quest 3 is like massively better than my Varjo Aero. Is it your case too? If not, how could I fix it? I don't know what to do, it doesn't feel smooth. I tried the msconfig thing and it improved the head tracking but still not as smooth as Quest 3, not even close.
As cool as the Quest 3 is, and with Valve's creation of a specific Steam Link app for it, I am tempted. But I'm thinking I'll wait to see what they have coming out next. Hoping my Reverb G2 will keep ticking along fine until then.
6:56 Jokes on you, I play none of those games! But I get the sentiment. That said, I've come to the conclusion that though Quest 3 is great, I'm going to wait and save up for what ever Valve comes up with.
is it worth. I would say no if your a super normal person because there is little screen door effect if your looking for it. it might be the quest 4 before every normal tv gamer could really appreciate what VR brings to the table. but if you tried VR back around the Oculus Rift cv1 an did not really like it but liked it at the same time something like the screen door effect with the not being able to read text in games and the very poor tracking then yes this might very well be the baseline to hook you on VR as a normal way to play at least some games. because for me I was sold on racing games and Skyrim like games if they fixed the screen door effect and had a little better tracking with good audio. this headset as most of all of that. if anything I would want in the quest 4 is eye tracking it just makes using a range weapon so much easier + with good software your eyes are always in the sweet spot. but at the same time the quest 4 should be a very big upgrade over the quest 3 so its a hear or there kind of thing we have not tapped out on what VR can do yet with the headsets getting more powerful an light just for the Giggles yet so anything you buy in VR will more than likely be replaced with the next generation. so its more of a how eager are you to jump on the bandwagon.
I have psvr1 that I really only enjoyed for a little bit because everything made me sick. I’m hoping that with the newer sets that are out I can actually get into vr and find enjoyment in it like everyone else does in the community.
Years ago I saw an interview with a tech intellectual so long ago I can't properly even remember their age or gender. Anyhow they said about privacy online just assume there is none even end to end encryption can be read if the devices involved aren't secure. So since then I have treated the world in general if I talk to someone on or offline I think of it as out there in the public spaces. And my only bit of privacy only exists behind my eyes in my wetware which in the future may be hackable or connected to the tech noosphere. So personally I try not to gossip and everyone in my life are interacted with on a need to know basis.
Great video as always Thanks i love my quest 3 besides the comfort but hell a new headstrap from a third party is on the way since this bish Bites after 40 minutes coming from a Quest 2 with a BoBo shes definitely not the most comfortable Sad that theres nothing to say in the comments this time so i just say Uuhm shit wait hold on This must be Opening to once mind forcing em to reevaluate their live Cheese Sandwich Now marvel as my brain ascends to another realm of existence I have Peaked
been using the pico4 since launch, quest2 is long dust eater since. but would not buy pico stuff again. great hardware, but software and development is just "so-made in china".
Valve needs to hurry up… But Pico 5 is a non starter especially if you’re in the US. Pico game selection is very small compared to Quest on top no exclusive system seller, and it probably won’t release in the US. You still can’t get a Pico 4 from official channels.
@AnonymousUser-ww6ns I’m assuming you’re talking about the Valve HMD. But if it is $1000 that going to a hard pill to swallow. Guess Meta is gonna continue to be the champ of VR. Selling $1k vr HMD is not cool anymore unless it aimed at businesses.
@@BonelessVR Did you use any OLED device? Once you try it, there is no going back. Its the same effect as playing with 30fps whole life and then trying 90. You cant go back to 30fps after trying 90, or even 60. OLED vs LED is a similar effect. The blacks are better, the contrast is infinite, the colors are more vivid, there is no ghosting issue, etc, etc.
I’ve used oled on monitors, tv’s, switch ofc and my Op1. I get why people like oled but Mini led is doing it for me in vr and I’ve never been bothered by quest 2, 3, or pro screens. Oled still has a long way to go before it’ll be a good fit for most people’s VR use cases.
2:50 this is excactly what i dont want. i wanna buy one good headset, and stick with it for years. iam not looking for a console mounted to my face, iam bascially looking for a monitor on my face, one that meets the criterias and will satisfy me for 6 years to come. but the market iam looking for, simply isnt there or not up to date and that market bascially is, performance, tech state and price wise, what the index set, was in 2019. but today, its eighter standalone midrange or enthusiast , nothing in between for pcvr only. last i hear, new pico is still a year out. and valve time means it could very well be 2 years. idk, right now it feels, in my postion, i eighter take less and deal with it or break the bank an go enthusiast an risk a divorce with my wife, that ive just talked out of an new iphone max
I was really confused to hear you say you only saw eye relief adjustment on the Vive. The Index has a lot of eye-relief adjustment, it's actually quite nice. I find myself right now, at a point with my Index where I definitely want an upgrade, but there are certain things I am not willing to give up, both as a content creator, and a VR consumer. I can't use VR without the off-ear speakers on the Index anymore, everything else I've tried leaves me wanting, and the microphone quality on the Index easily rivals and in many cases simply outpaces my dedicated microphone setup for streaming. Then there's the 144Hz refresh rate. I can't live without that anymore, even though I never get to enjoy it in VRChat, it makes a wild difference in Beat Saber. I'm really hoping Valve is on the verge of releasing something new that includes all the best parts of the Index, while improving on the worst. The headset came out in 2019 and it was showing its age in 2021.

Ngl I wear the thing for 6 or so hours at a time and there have been times I've gone to 12 hours with the thing on!
and the battery issues?
i literally cant go back to any older headset due to the new lenses
is your avatar custom made? and do you know a world with avatars similar to it?
Great video! Love it, but as you said I don't feel the need to upgrade from a quest 2 (will probably wait for the quest 4 or the valve deckard)
joke's on you this IS the first video I've seen about the quest 3
just curious, what trackers do you use and how many do you have ? your oc has very little jitter and thats rlly cool lol
How would you compare the index resolution to the quest 3? About the same or is the quest 3 an upgrade ✌🏻
resolution on the index is 1440 x 1600 and quest 3 is 2064 x 2208, so its an upgrade.
I cant wait to have the quest 3. Can xbox avatars be used on there?
8 months ago and we still don’t have the new valve headset… sadness, I feel at this point valve just canceled it
I'll be Jealous of all the Quest 3s that are gonna be handed Out for Christmas this year, but im sure it'll be worth the wait.
love every vids
Glad the tracking rings on the controllers gone should feel better when holding pistols and stuff
I’m a quest 1 normie. I haven’t played it in a while and it gave me motion sickness. I’m excited to get a quest 3 and try it out
Great video as always Thanks i love my quest 3 besides the comfort but hell a new headstrap from a third party is on the way since this bish Bites after 40 minutes coming from a Quest 2 with a BoBo shes definitely not the most comfortable
Sad that theres nothing to say in the comments this time so i just say
Uuhm shit wait hold on
This must be Opening to once mind forcing em to reevaluate their live

Now marvel as my brain ascends to another realm of existence

BonelessVR upload lessgoooooo!!!!
minor possible critique. bass is really high on your mic. could just be my headphones tho. dunno.
It definitely is high, still settling on what I’d like to do with eq, I appreciate the feedback!
Kinda enamoured with the swishy swishy hair tho 👀
Nothing to say backwards?! Top ten anime betrayals!?
been using the pico4 since launch, quest2 is long dust eater since. but would not buy pico stuff again.
great hardware, but software and development is just "so-made in china".
Darn you’re really working to get me to want a quest 2
The lenses really suck and it feels like a brick is hanging off the front of your face.
thought i was subscribed but realized that was on my alt account
6:48 google was right :3
Valve needs to hurry up… But Pico 5 is a non starter especially if you’re in the US.
Selling $1k vr HMD is not cool anymore unless it aimed at businesses.
banger video
LED display = shit. Wait for OLED VR
as someone who uses oled on other devices I can say I’ve never once been bothered by not having oled in a headset.
Oled still has a long way to go before it’ll be a good fit for most people’s VR use cases.
the 3ds..
2:50 this is excactly what i dont want. i wanna buy one good headset, and stick with it for years. iam not looking for a console mounted to my face, iam bascially looking for a monitor on my face, one that meets the criterias and will satisfy me for 6 years to come. but the market iam looking for, simply isnt there or not up to date and that market bascially is, performance, tech state and price wise, what the index set, was in 2019. but today, its eighter standalone midrange or enthusiast , nothing in between for pcvr only. last i hear, new pico is still a year out. and valve time means it could very well be 2 years. idk, right now it feels, in my postion, i eighter take less and deal with it or break the bank an go enthusiast an risk a divorce with my wife, that ive just talked out of an new iphone max
hp reverb g2 v2 thooo
Quest 3
you sound like legoshi
I have the quest 2 & it's really starting to feel out dated. I'm looking into the new meta stuff or pcvr but idk meta is just so simple
So what you’re saying is… Google knows I like guys in anime girl avatar? 🤔
Fk, finished going through your channel : /
you got a nice voice, make daily bedtime story channel or something...
I wouldn't rely on Valve. They haven't even announced the headset yet.
Love the video ^-^
I can't stand when people call others"Normies". It's so narcissistic.
Bro do you ever cut you're dirty nails 🤣
He plays guitar, and guitarists leave their dominant hand with long nails for finger picking
@@shubashubashubas You do know there is such a thing called plastic guitar pick,s right, you don't need pterodactyl nails and unwashed discusting nails you can see all the dirt in there 😂
@@shubashubashubas ok man fair point
Is it worth?
