I think the Quest 4 is a bit to far out to hold out on one, we got the Quest 3s coming probably later this year, so to expect a Quest 4 in the next 2 years is unlikely since Meta are beginning to over spend/over invest in VR and need to make more returns on headset sales since their selling them at such a high of a loss just to get them out their in consumers
Well think about phones, they generally stay the same price every year, but they don't get this big of a leap, but the tech becomes cheaper over time. So you're way of thinking is definitely flawed. If it always went up due to better tech phones would cost a minimum of 3000 dollars. But this price on the quest 3 is good because they're making like only 5 bucks each headset due to production prices
Still blows my mind that both cost below $700 for what they bring. I'm not asking Meta to raise the price, they just need to advertise their good products better because cluless people still think is just another cheap Nintendo Wii clone
My older brother gave me his quest 1 after he bought a quest 2 a few years ago, so i just use it with airlink and play pc vr since i already had a good gaming pc. I also learned that the quest 1 has an oled screen while the quest 2, 3, and pro have lcd screens so that's nice
lcd is a downgrade from oled with proper resolution. Micro oled screens will totally blow away lcd. Upcoming high end headsets will be using micro oled to give high contrast, true blacks and vivid color compared to lcd.
@@Chadman03elantra Indeed, but ppl still game on LCD flat screens because the price is prohibitive versus the benefit. Certainly for TV's the microOLED would be more of a benefit. As far as LCD monitors go, I don't mind them at all. I don't do much PC gaming on them though. My issue with the LCD panels in VR headsets is that it breaks the immersion for me when in dark environments. All I see is the gray fog of the backlight. When using OLED it convinces me I am really there.
@@Chadman03elantra Well the problem with LCD's for VR is the screen is magnified so the pixels are also magnified, not a huge issue when playing games, more of an issue when using them for computing or watching movies due to just sitting there consuming media. Of course even though the AVP has a high pixel density it is still poor compared to a good microOLED panel form a comparable distance. Again the screen is close, the screen is magnified, but certainly better than LCD. The other problem is ghosting with microOLED (and all OLED's) & of course screen burn - which may be an issue with ppl using the same screens for a long time in the same position.
Should've mentioned the graphical quality in games. For games like Bonelab, the Quest 3 has superior quality because of the better chipset. This being said, it still isn't close to what a good PC setup would get you.

The Quest 2 has the Fresnel lens and pancakes lenses has a better sweet spot. Do your research before making a video. And the Quest 2 controllers didn’t have rings, they’re halos. The Quest headsets don’t come with any games, you have to buy them. Both headsets only have 4 cameras. Again, do your research.
@Resist4 The Quest 3 actually has 6 cameras (2 more than the Quest 2 has). 4 for tracking, 2 for color pass-through. You can count them. 2 on the lower corners, 2x2 stacked one above the other sharing the outer 2 window slits on the front. Everyone calls the controller rings, rings. I've never heard anyone call them halos. Meta themselves on their Quest 3 sales page describes the Quest 3 controllers having "ring-free design" not halo-free. So...uh... do your research before complaining about someone else's lack of research.

Another difference between the Q2 & Q3 is the mic on the Q2 is better - not better in regards to quality tho as the Q3 is actually better. The Q3 design of where the mic is (behind the front panel) means you get a popping sound because the soundwave from speaking has to enter the plastic cover via the seam (no mic holes - the Q2 has 2 mic holes) & it vibrates when the usual pronounced words causes popping (as per why mics have pop filters).

Wtf is this economy bullshit. I live in Chile and our salary is way worse than the US and somehow, a QUEST 2 goes for 450-600USD normal price. And you are telling me that you find 500USD expensive for the QUEST 3? If you find it expensive imagine how it is for us. I have been eyeing a Quest for years and I can never feel safe knowing that the next year they will probably announce a new one which is way better than the previous, life sucks
No no no, they are not waffle lenses... the name comes from the shape of pancakes (being almost flat), they look nothing at all like waffles. The lenses are the main reason battery time is half - even with effeciency gains of the new snapdragon, the double-pass through the lenses, which usese polarisation to direct the light back and forth (how they work is that reflecting back through lens and back twice allows a more shallow lens curvature for the same optical power), causes ~ 75% loss of light, so to get the same lumiance as Meta 2, the power in the display has to increase. The polarising optics are also responsible for the very reduced eyebox - why it has to be adjustable IPD vs Meta 2. The pros and cons for smaller form factor - the physics behind this has been known for years, just a waiting game for who has the money to risk releasing a product with lower battery life and lower IPD. Interesting review, as a non-gamer I'm probably safe getting a Quest 2.
Quest 2 certainly has better comfort accessories right now. I'm still waiting for good battery elite battery strap to exist from bobo vr and a facial interface from VRCover to exist for Quest 3. Quest 2 has better controller tracking too. So it is still the best in some ways for sure. It is also more durable. I've seen several Quest 3s with broken glass camera windows. That's just not an issue with Quest 2.

im a boy im on my sister account
Wtf is this economy bullshit. I live in Chile and our salary is way worse than the US and somehow, a QUEST 2 goes for 450-600USD normal price. And you are telling me that you find 500USD expensive for the QUEST 3? If you find it expensive imagine how it is for us. I have been eyeing a Quest for years and I can never feel safe knowing that the next year they will probably announce a new one which is way better than the previous, life sucks
i broke my rift s (quest 2/1 w pcvr only) controllers the first time i smacked those rings together. still tracked just fine lmfao.
Interesting review, as a non-gamer I'm probably safe getting a Quest 2.
i just got quest 2 for christmas😢
Quick update regarding the price for anyone watching in 2024 the quest 3 is more affordable now.
Headphone jacks are 1000X better then the compressed latency crap that is bluetooth. You just don't know any better.
QUEST 2 IS THE BEST YOU LIAR!!!!!!
Hi
Interracial tracking? I'm in!
there is no fucking next video
You didn't compare both with the link cable.....so was disappointed as I never use the quest on its own as the games are basic. I always use my PC link
last year i bought the quest 2 for 400 dollars on amazon😭😭😭
What a pointless video. And to beg for people to watch your next video by lying about another headset.....SMH
I have a father, so I asked if I can split it. It's $250 for the both of us, so I'm buying it for the Quest 2 price, which I see as worth it.
i watch this guy for my quest 2 tips new subscriber
thanks bro
welcome@@kaysarinc
Brah I don’t care about games, I just want it for my workflow productivity improvements.
thank you so much
I’m not paying 500 dollars
I haven't watched the vid yet but idk what is better with the quest 2 than 3, hopefully I find out
I'm getting a meta Quest 2 because I think the other headsets all just to overpriced so I'm going with Quest 2 because I've never had a vr
Me getting 3 hours on quest 3: WHAT DA HELL
Quest 3 has way better lenses as well as a better chip, it's worth it.
Quest 2 was 350 on launch, it’s 250 rn bc of new headset release. Quest 3 will be 300 when new one comes out. Def worth it for quest 3 played both a good amount
The real answer is, you should not buy either. Wait for a decent compa y to make one.
my quest 2 battery is dying and im considering the new version, it looks like the green aliens from toy story
headphone jacks are not ancient technology, u are going offend audiophiles
...made from plastic, thank the lord they didn't made it out of wood.
Meta Quest 3 definitely if you can afford it. If not Meta Quest 2. Meta is way ahead of most everyone else in VR/mixed reality.
is it ok if i buy the q2
Yes
Quest 3 controller tracking is ass try verting in Gtag or expert+ songs in beat saber
got a quest 2 really want to upgrade to the 3 but €550 is too much
Yall don't forget that the quest 2 used to cost the same as the quest 3 right now
Nah man quest 3 is not any better than 2 other than one feature
2:16, they do not sound familiar in any way bruh, what are you on about....??? the quest 3 sounds like you took the quest 2 and turned up the bass in an eq
Q3 has 4 speakers, Quest 2 has 2 speakers, take a closer look man lol...
Happy new year
happy new year to you too
You can by a quest 3 used for almost 100$ less
feel me man. 2 year old quest 2 (still has the oculus logo on both controllers* games get delayed x2 since its old asf and now saving up for vive xr elite
Cliffhanger aaaaaaaaaaaaa
