In this episode Jim Gibson describes what a poorly-maintained data room looks like. However this is not unusual in the data world. Poorly designed data cabinets, data closets and data rooms that are not well maintained or documented will end up looking like this. If you're a professional data information technology (IT) professional you need to spend time making sure that your data closet does not turn into a disaster.

Used to tell prima Donna IT guys that we do not work on their abortions. They never used fire stop even when told numerous times. I retired from a large hospital where they were very strict. Most computer cables were installed neatly by union guys. Had ladder racks in every hallway.
Union or NON union there is good and bad. I have seen both.

11:41 We have a small used car dealership and had an old Merlin 410 phone system up until 10 years ago. I went to an IP based phone system and removed the amphenol jacks and cable along with the 66 blocks.
It's good to remove the old stuff and keep the IT closet clean.
Had an experience years ago. Comcast phone would default to a high loop current. This high loop current prevented the "business" phones from detecting when a line was on hold so the phone would pick up the next line to dial out. Interesting diagnosis that was a setting in the cable phone dmarc.

In the next 2 weeks I have my last exam to get my CCNA Routing and Switching certificate and I am already looking forward to start the CCNP in June. I believe the orange outlets are protected power, generator backup. You also see them in hospitals. Thanks for the very informative tour.
Sometimes they are for generators. They can also be for isolated circuits for IT equipment in an IT room..
the back of the patch panels around 7 minutes are most likely voice. those terminations are perfectly fine for Cat 3

The USA can use orange for data? in Australia youd likely be deregistered but definitely fined, orange here is reserved for LV/HV only
( USA's LV might be equivalent to our (s)ELV. Our LV is 71v ac/120vdc to 1000v AC/1500 DC
USA LV is very low voltage, like POTS voltage or 12v DC voltage for example. Orange is the traditional color for telecom in the US for utility marking and conduits.
