    Jay Meagher hats down you are an absolute master not only in engines building but also you gave the owner of this broken engine a good lesson about greediness and power limits of the stock internals that he used ! Thank you Jay it is an honor to be living in this very moment and seeing such a valuable lesson which I can use to teach my self and to teach my kid at some point. Sometimes people are not realizing that it requires not only to be deadly precise in all the things which are happening in that engine, but also, people just don’t realize that they need to build the engine in their own way in the manner of try/fail method and then to be able to spot by 6th sensing on their own an eventual failure because of greediness for more and more !

    Proves that 2jz engine really has big balls.The thing was running at a level of 800-900hp with no problems from 2009 until the owner push it even more in 2017 at 1100hp with 46 psi of boost and then it blowed up, otherwise will still running fine.

      @@realstreetperformance No problem! I can't wait for you guys to release a video explaining the new software/controls concepts of the B58 engine in the Mk5 Supras. Given this engine has variable valve lift, an electronic throttle body and electronic wastegates, air management is much different than a cable throttle body 2JZ engine where fuel and spark are outputted based on air/load and RPM. Now the ECU has control of air/load via valve lift (and timing) and electronic throttle body/wastegate; so I know engine calibrators/tuners are dealing w/ a new learning curve...
      Basically, the amount of air entering the cylinders can vary at the same manifold pressure, simply because of variable valve lift....so multiple fueling/spark map filters need to be put in place to account for this. In addition, fueling is more efficient in a DI engine than a PFI engine; but the air entering the cylinders has to be modeled from the ECU since there are no pressure sensor in the cylinder...
      Someone needs to break down the new controls strategy for the B58 engines; it should be RealStreetPerformance.

    Idea for thought here ...
    Maybe have a 1/2 mile strip, once you go past the 1/4 mile mark, instead of letting the throttle go and forcing the engine into full vacuum, which is what caused his rod to snap, you let off slowly, ease off the throttle until you don't have that stress anymore, then let go. This may remove that stress on the rod and allow it to continue to run.

    You need to get an impact for those little bolts it makes it faster

    • @realstreetperformance
      @realstreetperformance  4 роки тому +5

      Jay has a drawer of impacts but leaves them in the drawer for engine work. He prefers to feel how each bolt comes out and geos in. You can learn a lot about the health of a bolt by the way it breaks free and tightens back down. Especially bolts in engines that get torn down for inspection frequently. Jay has a tech tip on this channel about bolt health and how to know when its time to replace a bolt instead of reusing it. Using impact guns on important hardware causes you to lose a feel for the bolt. It also tends to tempt people into making mistakes like running a cap bolt/nut all the way down on one side before moving to the other side, instead of slowly working them down on both sides evenly. There is a time and a place for impacts, but we will continue to leave them in the tool box when doing engine work.
