Finally, someone in the US who knows the potential of this platform. The US is the only place where no one knows how to build an SR20 properly; I remember 10+ years ago seeing a Datsun with an SR20DET in Puerto Rico running 6 seconds when NOBODY was anywhere near those numbers. I'm talking no Honda, no Mitsubishi; some 2JZ were in the 6 secs, but those had 2 more cylinders.
Ahhh. Youve been paying attention. Well done. The Aussies also build some monster SR20s as well. Infact Micks Motorsport in Australia did 6 second passes with the oem cast block SR20 back in 2013. A 6.91 at 206mph. I think.
@@conradsealy9603Yes, some of those car's videos are still up and you can see the upload date 😂 10-12 years old.. Doing mid 7s and low 7s until they finally cracked into the 6s...
As seen on That Racing Channel. You can now view it on our channel. We save these videos on our playlist so you can stay up to date with build videos. Thanks for watching!
Im suprised they didnt use the dual guide shim mod on the rockers. Really cool engines those SR20s. Lots of power potential. The Aussies also build some really powerful SR20s as well.
I always enjoy your videos, Jay, but especially enjoy them when it involves the SR20 and the masterminds behind Mazworx. Going to re-sleeve my SR20 next year and going the HKS 2.2L route. Going to also use a lot of the Mazworx parts that you guys used on this engine, and cannot wait! I have a spare SR20 in my S14 at the moment, completely unopened lol, but the one I am about to rebuild has detonation marks around the upper edge on the factory sleeves, and the pistons are damaged from going too hot. Bad tuning and chipped OEM ECU before my ownership. Looking forward to it though, gonna assemble it myself.
I recently had an SR built by Mark and the Mazworx team, the whole process was amazing, highly suggest them for anybody trying to have their SR built properly.
hi am from st lucia and am vbuilding me my sr20 and your vedio really helped me as am doing it for the first time i have it on a nissan blue bird but mine is a sr20ve
I met mark back in the 90's when he had his teal green S13 Silvia coupe with the CA18DE-T and he was roomates with that short Jewish guy with the 200sx ....
I might be getting a 2015 Hyundai Veloster Turbo .... Towards the end of this year So ive got to listen to Jay ! Their known to break alot of connecting Rods & i need 2 know Why & a few other problems
Does Jay believe in Pre filling the oil filter .... And i think your only supposed 2 fill the entry holes of the oil filter .... But i havnt heard Jay .... Or the Power Nation .... Or Papadaskis in California say it so .......
You know i dont know what size turbine or what size fuel injectors.... Or how many pounds of boost this thing is capable of having & ..... Thats why i listen 2 Jay .....
Curious as to the reasoning behind using OEM main-caps but going all the way to sleeving the block. would have expected to see some kind of aftermarket main cap and/or main-cap brace/girdle. Great video informative video with some handy tips!
Less prone to detonationm and replaceable, with aftermarket sleeves. When Nissan made those engines, they sprayed in the material for the OEM sleeves and machined them to spec afterwards, leaving an edge just above the first piston ring towards the cylinder head, making them more prone to detonation and can easily get damaged. I doubt the owner will make a lot of power with it, and it's always good to re-sleeve, IMO. I have damaged OEM sleeves because of detonation in my S14's SR and will replace the sleeves next year before I assemble it.
If anyone reading this has a cool Toyota AE86 that they plan on building with a mighty 4AGE 20 Valve Blacktop engine swap, please send said engine to Jay for a detailed build video 😃
I'm thinking about building a sr with my son. I found one with a spun bearing, owner says it started knocking and pulled the engine. It's just 20 minutes from me, they are asking 1,500 for the long block. Think it's worth it? Machining isn't an issue we have plenty of automotive machinist local. We would completely rebuild any motor we buy for this project even if it was considered a good running sr.
If it spun a rod bearing which is common, it probably be worth it but be ready to buy a crank shaft. Those are about $1000 and available still from Nissan.
You know when Blake talks about modifications & upgrades .... I talk about upgrading pistons , Rods , Fuel injectors ... Properly tune .... The combustion process ..... NOT putting a k & n air filter kit on it .... Because their no one to trust to ... Tune my car .... If you ask me the factory.... Has failed me in .... This engine application ... So .... Anywho ....
In like 2000-2002 the junk yards near me used to have dozens of really nice looking S13's all over the place. Most of them just needed motors, and got parted out/crushed. At that time you were just like meh S13 who cares, a running one was $2k~$3k. Now today people want 7k for a pile of crap rusted out one.
Jays says it it won’t be A Super powerful motor at 4 or 5 hundred ponies… I’d have to say 4 or 5 hundred hp is PLENTY for bout any motor of any size let alone for a tiny motor!😂

You Need to send a bulletproof Coyote to Cleetus, it may not stand up to Cleetus because he breaks everthing, not need to send him a tune just an unbreakable Coyote.
i really wish their prices were more reasonable, I live in Canada and this would cost me about $18,000 for this engine BEFORE shipping costs, nah, i'm not doing that, i'd like to, but nope
Running 600hp no dual guide shim, standard rockers and hydraulic lifters you are asking for problems in the higher rev ranges. I understand this car will probably not be beat on but for the money you put in for such a head set up by mazworks anyone looking to rebuild the engine and has money get a VVL head you won’t look back!
Not that powerful? LOL! A fully built SR20det making 500-550whp in. Datsun 510 weighing around 1,800-1850lbs is an easy 9 second car! Definitely should run 10’a no problem. I’d say if my car was running 10’s all day and high 9’s I’d say that’s a pretty powerful car. Idk your Supra 2jz’s doing 10’s and high 9’s probably has to be making close to 1,000hp to go that fast and that’s bc it weighs twice as much as a 510 making only 500-550whp which isn’t “POWERFUL” lol! You should know better than this out of all people that it doesn’t matter if you make 1,000hp in a 2jz bc one hp doesn’t matter it’s the power to weight ratio that matters, and second if you have traction and can hook! But that’s why I’m redline time attack they dyno and weigh your car after the race to make sure you weren’t over the power to weight ratio for what class your running in. Which includes weighing yourself and the gas before and after the race sometimes. Or checking how much fuel your tank can hold bc people who run too big of a tank don’t have to stop and fuel sometimes which also isn’t fair so weight the car will also say show you that bc I believe gas weighs around 6-6.3lbs per gallon depending on your octane and 87 being the lowest at around 6lbs.

Where can I get a high torque electric motor from?
would love to hear "jays" thought about this: "can engine be damaged internaly with adding oil while the engine is hot?"

I feel like im in a dream watching Jays Videos with that music in these videos .... Absolutely Amazing man 😴 😴
Two of the best here, pay attention everyone.
You ain't wrong about that if you want an SR20 done right these two are the goats
Thank you @noclassic
Indeed, you are a wonderful man who never stops using the SR20 engine and we are impressed with your explanation and clean work 👌😮💨⚙️
Mark has really put everything into developing the sr20 platform, through all these years.

How much was it ?
How much did it cost ?
@MsXfusion I did the 0.8 longblock package. It's about 10k on their website
damn its crazy cause back then it was such a cheap engine to obtain. now its more convenient to ls swap or k24
hi am from st lucia and am vbuilding me my sr20 and your vedio really helped me as am doing it for the first time i have it on a nissan blue bird but mine is a sr20ve
Would LOVE to see this turn into a series!!! Have Mike from MotoIQ on next to do a honda engine! Then the HPA guys on to do a Burra engine!
You guys rock kid
One of the best engine builds for innovation I've seen on UA-cam. Thanks for sharing.

All of Mr Jay " s .... Videos are very helpful ....
Wow what a treat !! 🙏🏽
Such a satisfying video 🙌
Glad to have seen this video, as I’m soon to have one to work on. Keep up the great work!
Hey Guys. Thanks for the knowledge.
We are happy to deliver these! Thanks for watching.
What a great informative video! Absolutely love it Thanks Jay! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video, curious to why maz chose to use standard rocker shim and did not do dual guide?
I'm sure it was all planned for the owners liking and decided to do it this route.
Amazing content! Thank you
I like the torque in the ka24de motor ....
wow! very imformational. Great to learn from peoples like J and Marchk
Glad you enjoyed it!
I might be getting a 2015 Hyundai Veloster Turbo .... Towards the end of this year So ive got to listen to Jay ! Their known to break alot of connecting Rods & i need 2 know Why & a few other problems

Jay What is you favourite 4cly engine platform and if so why
would love to hear "jays" thought about this: "can engine be damaged internaly with adding oil while the engine is hot?"
question on dual shims, has mazwork develop or found a way or any research on dual shims guide
5 hole bearing is also 19mm wide opposed to 17mm for the single hole, much better part
no dualshim guides? curious
Any feedback on the 3sge platform ?
Is there more scene?
What's the rough estimate of this build?
Sr20det S14 vct head gasket can use in s13 sr20det?
when priming the engine, is sprak plug removed???
There are no spark plugs in the engine while performing the priming steps.
Aww man. Still waiting on another +1200hp b58 build
🔥🔥

Why no Dual Shim Guide?
any discount code for cc stage 3 honda b sereis??

Can anyone explain why a rod bearing with 5 holes in it is any good?
they explained it on last video
why the reupload?
Video was released on That Racing Channel. We save these videos on our playlist so anyone can keep track of our engine build videos.
anyone know a coupon code for the site?
Hey Cool 😎 Dood !
500hp in a small light car is going to feel like 1000hp in some of the heavier v8 cars that you normally see 1000hp in.
My ford focus 😆 has flat tappets 😆 ....... That the camshafts lobes push down the titanium valve springs & valve stems 😂😂😂😂
So 8k to 10k?
Can anyone give me a price on the build please
in 1990 an sr20det mad almost as much power as a 5.o mustang.
