Love to see on the floor intensity, while the players respect each other and have fun. Then there was the warriors-timbs...

You can watch sambo or BJJ tournaments for that, MMA is about the mixing of the different disciplines. Once you get to the top 10 of most divisions it’s really hard to find people who are really one-dimensional, and when you get fights like Volk v Islam 1 and Edwards v Usman it’s so technical on all fronts it’s amazing. Even Strickland v Adesanya was a striking masterclass and didn’t incorporate any wrestling. That’s not to mention the decades of incredible fights with all-time greats.
I still think they’re needs to be a better incentive and probably may need to stretch it out longer throughout the season because I doubt people will care once it’s over in December but other than that the in season tournament is great

Most non-Americans were fine with it because they had experienced in season tournaments in other sports (FA Cup, UEFA Champions League etc). Now Americans know the feeling of games that matter in other months rather than just the final.
Things that were unknown before the tournament. 1. The winning players would get $500,000 each. That big money motivates hard play. 2. For the fans there were very different court designs which made the games more interesting to watch. * Take away those two things and just play for a trophy, and then the tournament would not be a good idea.
Sure there are tournaments in Europe but they happen alongside the season schedule. Even in basketball all of the Euroleague teams play in their domestic league and then have an additional schedule for Euroleague. However, games are less frequent compared to the NBA. This NBA-inseason-tournament feels more like a compromise since less season games and an additional tournament would have been way more interesting for the overall intensity and interest of the fans but of course the NBA didn’t want to potentially lose money on the currently ridiculous amount of season games. Sometimes less is more in my opinion.

Not really if you think about it really. NBA players are the elite of the elite, even the bad ones. When they are 30 y o they have been playing a sport that is high impact on the ankles, knees and hips for about 2 decades basically daily. Most average people cant handle recreational sports after 40 without joint issues. And here you have plenty of guys in their 30s playing vs the best, and they have a lot of games and tons of training. Again, for decades! And they do all that, many of them at least, although they have had injuries that were career enders just 20 years ago. Kawhi had ankle issues for years and a torn acl. So I am surprised he is playing at all anymore. Nobody is even talking about the injuries that are so common it's not worth a comment. I guarantee if you have been playing any pro sport on that level with that impact for that duration, you have significant meniscus degeneration, which results in knee pain from just playing.

My only gripe is the incentive. $500K/player is the best motivation they could come up with? I would like to do this. 1) have each nba pick a local charity for a certain amount of money. Let’s say a $1 million donation. 2) Have the charity attend the home games for each team. 3) for the championship game, have both charities at the game. Imagine a bunch of kids cheering on their teams to win! It would be epic and the players would actually care more when they see the kids.
