I'm a former gymnast foremost, but a dancer part-time as well, but I'm 29 now and actually handicapped/in a wheelchair due to a severe neuro disorder. Even so, though I have no reason to watch these or benefit from the tips themselves anymore, I still love watching these ever since I found them. For starters, it's so aesthetically pleasing (you and Zoe are so beautiful), but I also just love watching pieces of my old world, and such clean lovely dancing and technique. While I know ultimately you'd want to help more dancers with your videos, I want you to know what happiness, calm and light you bring into even my life. I can't walk (and, though I'm trying to relearn in a pool at the moment), it may never realistically happen. Still, even though I'm good about my doing my exercises and am a determined person, these videos still encourage me to take care of my body and do my "work" just like I would as if I were training as a former dancer/athlete. So, it does still help me physically, too. If I ever do magically recover, I promise to send you a video of my first pirouette. :)

I love the way you teach because most dance instructors, if you come into dance later in age, won't give you the basics on pointe work.

Claudia I love your videos and your presence so much. They are so instructive and helpful. I'm wondering if you might have any tips for older dancers? I am 38 and back on pointe and dancing about 10 hours a week. Obviously I'm not trying to become a professional, but I still want to do a good job, grow my skill, and not injure myself! It's definitely different when we're older. A video with tips on hip openers, caring for knees and ankles, and maybe something about helping keep from getting dizzy with turns (for some reason much more of an issue as we get older) would be so awesome. Thanks again for all you are doing!

I want some grapes now! Lol. This is great. I am 44 and while I have danced all my life, I stopped ballet at 16 at intermediate cecchetti level. I am doing my RAD exams now. Inter foundation this year and am really excited that my technique and strength is coming back fast (I had a full hip replacement two years ago so was pretty out of shape even though I was still doing some contemp/tap and jazz all the way to surgery and from two months after surgery I was back doing Irish Dance) I am working hard every day, to reach some goals I would have liked to reach as a kid (I ended up being an aerialist and professional fringe performer thanks to ballet and even taught Pole dancers how to create great lines and extensions and pointe their toes lol!). Eventually I would like to go all the way and take an academic pathway in dance and dance research (around mental health, hyper-mobility syndromes and adult/seniors dance). It is just wonderful being back en pointe and getting all those feels back in my muscles and to be getting really strong again!

I like your attitude. I am not young but I danced in youth and much later into mature years and could still do n it, but O moved back to the country, where there are few places to do ballet. I didcfind one and was getting back into n it but I was the only adult among teenage girls. I was keeping up very well. But c there was such intense resentment or something like that among older women who thought ballet was only for young teenagers, tgat I hadn't give up. So I try yo do b some of the exercises alone at home. Some of this prejudice against older women who once dance and want to keep dancing in thrir senior years needs to be broken down. We don't just want 'gentle exercise for seniir citizens'. That's so boring. Some of us still a year stron by dancing in youth and we want some heavy duty hard training now because we can handle it. I have no brit6le bones, rheumatism, high blood pressure etc and am nit fat, but do have diabetes and need to exercise. And ballet happens to be what I enjoy as serioys exercise. Gym, running etc is so boring and I'm hopeless at team sports, which also bore me. I'd like ice skating but there is nowhere c to do it in hot Australia. Gymnastics would be gone, but I have no skill for that. So it's ballet. And ballet is more fun in a group.

@@joebloggs619 I ended up doing to advanced foundation exam and also 4 discovering repertoire exams. I was teaching too, but left because I refused to comply with NWO poison mandates. I still teach and do Irish dancing. 50 now. Performing next week. I am also in Oz, but the cold south. Don't listen to the haters, that is pointless. Do you and go hard as you can. Limitations only come from within.

I also want to share that I did straight piqué turns across the floor today, since I am proud of myself, especially as not exactly being the best at turns. But anyhow, thanks for making the video. Hi! so I danced ballet from the age of 3 to the age of 11 when I went through some medical problems that caused me to have to stop. I am now 19 and wondering your professional opinion on how hard it would be to get back into ballet and on point at this age. I retained most of my flexibility but I am not sure if I should take the time to pursue this dream if all that will come from it is disappointment. I really hope you could give me some feedback on this because it's been a long journey to hear that I can go back to dancing if I wanted to.

I'm 15 and have been doing it since I was 14 (June 2021 - I turned 15 in Jan) and am about to enter my second vocational exam. Apparently I'm extremely strong and smooth en pointe so I want to be able to work on my confidence and get over the fear, which I struggle with. My turnout is also the main thing physically that I struggle with (alongside leaning back, but that's easier to correct). My pointe shoes are fine but they feel very clunky. Unfortunately our dance studio's fitter only has bloch. I wish I had something that was higher along the shank and doesn't feel clunky. Even when my old ones (same model) were soft they were super clunky, even when they couldn't support me anymore.
Edit: also my shoes do look weird on me unless I'm facing completely to the side. They look bent very low even though the arch is broken in very high (right on the arch of my foot). Knuckling maybe? Idk

I got my first pair when I was 8 but now that it’s a few years later I really want to try to get better, thanks for the tips!
How many should I do? I’m 13 now, am practicing cecchetti level 4, and dance 4 days a week.

Wow! What a beautiful and strong dancer she is! I am 33 years old and just getting back on point after about 11 years off. Any tips for number of reps and how many days a week I should be doing these exercises at home? Thank you!

love the video ! Could we have advice on menés, we never really practise and except when going backward I really feel like an odd robot... going side ways is the worst, I never travel, but bourrées on spot or en tournant are ok, go figure

What is the song in the very beginning and also for the last exercise? I'm a teacher and would love to use these in my classes. The tempo for the last one is just perfect.

Hi Claudia, I am 15 years old and only started doing classical ballet at the age of 9, and started pointe end of last year(late, i know!) at a recreational school. This year i am training about 6 hours a week, but last year i think it was closer to 11 hrs. how many calf rises would you recommend for me? thanks so much for your super informative videos, you're a real inspiration :) xx

Thank you so much for this video! May I ask why does my big toes bruise after doing pointe work? The whole toenail area is blue-black now. I'm 17 and doing advanced foundation. The bruising problem only happened recently, and I was using my old pointe shoes, nothing new. Would be really grateful if you can give some advice on this matter! Thank you once again!
