I am actually very happy with this phone, initially after going through all pixel phones and moving to the iphone 15 pro max (first time iphone user), I really started to enjoy some things and wishing some things were different with the photo quality. After upgrading to the iphone 16 pro max, what I can tell is that in terms of photography I am very happy now with the camera and styles as much as I am with the video. The colors seem to get a lot better, less yellowish, more natural, more real. I am really having a good time with this phone, was not expecting to be this polished. iOSdelivers a smooth experience that its hardly matched by any other android phone... I am curious to see how the samsung s25 ultra will be, but for the moment, its been a lot of fun to record video and taking photos with this phone.
If you use a third party software like iMazing, it will give you the battery capacity of an iPhone. It says the design capacity for the 16 Pro Max is 4630 ma. Some sources claim it is 4685 ma. Apple always seems to give you a little more battery capacity than stated so that it shows 100% battery health for a longer time as it degrades. My new 16 Pro Max is showing an effective total capacity of 4837 ma, which is 104.5% of the rated design capacity. Same thing happened with my 14 Pro Max and the battery health was still at 100% after 2 years and careful charging to about 80%. So its not surprising why people are getting really long battery life with the 16 Pro Max.
That is correct. I have explained in many battery tests why it takes longer to drop from 100%. This is because the battery has a capacity above what is stated, unlike Samsung, which usually has 150mAh less than the claimed 5000mAh. So, for some, the 16PM battery capacity may be very close to the S24U.
Loving the battery life on my 16 Pro Max.. have the same feeling about the camera control button… meh… but I really like how you can disable it completely or set it to double click as yes, even I accidentally triggered it a few times!! BTW.. awesome video 🤎🤎🤎
I got a 16 Pro to replace a 12 Pro. Its feels like a pretty solid upgrade. I think I'm only really going to notice the difference with the screen with I have them side by side. I appreciate the better camera and dropping lightning is also a plus. Not sure about the camera button yet. It works quite well for what it is and its in a pretty good position for me to take pictures one handed in both landscape and portrait. But I'm not sure if its really better than using the touchscreen. Unless I find myself badly wanting an even larger screen or more storage (and if the battery holds up), its hard to imagine wanting another one inside of 5 years
I’m in the same position, meaning I have a 12 pro and want to upgrade to the 12 pro with 512gb. After living with your 16 pro for some time, would you advise upgrading? Ik the battery, screen size, and camera will be a pretty big change (hopefully in a good way).
@@julianray5240definitely a excellent upgrade from the 12 pro. The screen speakers and camera are huge improvements. Also battery and thermals and lots of other things.
seriously? i switched from a 13 Pro to a 16 Pro .. and honestly. Its more or less the same. USB C, always on - ok cool. But everything else is more or less the same (performance the same, pictures - lets be honest - with no site by site comparison - no chance to distinguish. I was aware of that - only reason to upgrade for me was the "family circle" - so my dad needed a new phone etc. But getting a "huge jump" - nope.

the camera control button is interesting. Imagine if you need to quickly capture something like a license plate or some natural phenomenon. You don’t have to waste time navigating to the camera app then clicking record. it opens and starts capturing in two clicks

I went from the 15 Pro Max to the 16 Pro for the exact same reason. So tired of that massively heavy chunk swinging around in my pocket and fumbling around with it. I’m loving the new Pro at 6.3, it’s so much more manageable and I can easily type 1 handed now. I was terrified the battery wasn’t going last but so far it matches my daily use and battery performance I was getting from the 15 Pro Max.
haha, I went the other way! From 14 pro to 16 Pro Max and now after 3 days of using the 16 - 14 seems to be soooo small, like I cannot imagine going back. Hopefully that won't change over time :D
@@mattdanyliw9121 The battery was really the only thing I disliked. It’s charged fast but carrying a portable battery bigger than my phone was pointless
This year, I'm switching from the 15 Pro Max to the 16 Pro for the following reasons: a larger display, better battery, and the color (black titanium instead of natural). Last year, I switched to the 15 Max because I wanted a bit more display and, above all, better battery life-plus the 5x zoom. However, I found the Pro's form factor to be perfect for me-the Max turned out to be too cumbersome in the end. Now, with the 16 Pro, I get more battery life, a larger display, and the 5x zoom in the regular Pro-so it's the perfect fit.
I’m returning my 16 Pro and sticking with the 11 Pro for another year. After five generations, I was simply meh about the 16 Pro…it just does some things slightly better. The only real improvement I noticed was the higher refresh rate, so I’ll wait for the base model 17 instead.
Yes, the 17 is supposed to be a new design, including the thinner model. I still have the 11ProMax, and it has stood the test of time well. With an 87% battery health, I should get another year before the recommended battery upgrade. I suppose we see why having overkill performance in Apple devices is useful as they age well.
Makes me wonder if you would be more impressed with Samsung instead, there’s only so much you can do with a giant slab. And the performance are you telling me you didn’t notice the performance? The performance on the 16 pro smokes 11 pro.
@@Adamtendo_player_1 If the iPhone 16 had offered a higher refresh rate screen, I would have chosen it and probably kept that one. It feels like the Pro model is being pushed on anyone who wants 120Hz, as it's the only standout feature. Overall, I’d rather wait another year…it didn’t feel like a massive upgrade tbh. What might have convinced me to stick with the 16 Pro is some extra RAM for future proofing AI capabilities, but once again, Apple disappointed. The main reason I’m still in the ecosystem is my MacBook which I still really like.
I've been a Samsung user all my life and am still running the S22 Ultra. I need to upgrade however as the phone's hardware is starting to get outdated and I need an Ultra phone for my work. Samsung has also sort of neglected our region when it comes to crucial software updates, so amongst other things I've started to become annoyed with them. So I've decided to give the iPhone 16 Pro Max a chance. I'll be heading over to Germany in October for work and will buy myself the 16 Pro Max there. I'm super excited. Feedback from most people is that there is almost no difference between the 14-15-16 causing them to rather wait for the 17 next year. For me however EVERYTHING will be new as I've been an Android user my whole life. I'm particularly excited about the cameras and the long battery life as well as the upcoming Apple Intelligence.
I ordered the iPhone 16 Pro Max and I am excited about the vlogs I can put out, the pause makes a huge difference, zoom as well, I had the iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Pro Max prior to that the iPhone 6
I’m upgrading this year from the 12 Pro Max to the 16 Pro Max, after all these video features from the 13 Pro to the 16 Pro, I finally felt compelled to upgrade, especially after I found out I could shoot 4K 120 in ProRes Log. As a filmmaker, that was way too awesome to pass up!
Every single year: hey, I wasn’t expecting much from this year’s refresh, but oh I was pleasantly surprised! Sure. We’ve been into majorly diminishing returns for new features for yearly updates for many years now, which is fine of course considering where smartphone as a device category is. It’s matured.
60Hz on the base model is like spitting on the face, battery is a good improvement, action button is a gimmick like in Sony, the rest is software that might as well be on 4 years older generations
In defense of the button. When it finally functions the way it's supposed to, I think it'll be good. I don't know why it wasn't ready at release but I heard from a few sources that in a future software release it will function just like a DSLR. Half click is focus and full click takes the picture. THAT I will like. I agree with you though, as of right now it's a gimmick that isn't overly helpful.
Regarding the modem that the 16 series phones are using, I want to add a slight correction: the 16s are using a refreshed version of the Qualcomm X70 modem called X71, which is designed specifically for these phones. Idk what improvements are they bringing, but unfortunately, it may be the same in terms of cellular performance. As for the WiFi 7 side, if you’re a tech nerd, you would be disappointed - the WiFi 7 capabilities are severely limited and it performs exactly the same as 6E - that’s due to the bandwidth being limited to 160 MHz and because MLO is not enabled (which allows you to aggregate all of the WiFi frequencies at once, similar to what is being offered on 4G and 5G networks). Not to mention, the US version of the 16 also has a reduction of the mmWave antennas from 2 down to only 1, and that would cause a really big performance hit, making the mmWave range a lot worse than last generation. So, in conclusion, the connectivity aspect of the iPhone 16 is very disappointing.
I've been wrong about the x75 this whole time! It's the reason I was thinking about switching from Android (along with some other things). Is that the same modem for both the 16 and pro, or could the pro have the x75? Where can I find out more info on the x71 and where it's mentioned. Thanks for the info!
I’ve been really loving the new camera button! I take a lot of pics & vids and it’s nice to be able to the zoom right on the button. Also great that it automatically starts rec vid when you hold and press the button
Yes and no. It is better because refinements but not significant enough to warrant an upgrade. If you have the 15, stick with it and wait for the 17 series.

I upgraded from the 14PMN to the 16PM. Only because I got screwed on upgrading after some things happened. The 16PM is much lighter than my 14 and I didn't think the bezels would make much difference but it "feels" a lot bigger. I would say any of the 3 would be an upgrade for you. I would say to go to 15 or 16 though because of USB-C. I didn't mind having both chargers but now only one cord is nice.
@@hannahgibbons7436 Most people I know have been wanting USB-C on iPhone for years now lol. This person is obviously upgrading and IMO if you are set on any of the 3 than 15 and 16 are deff worth it for USB-C alone depending on what most of your electronics are. Most of apple is USB-C now as well. That is a very big influence for alot of people and others just dont care.
I don’t think this phone even qualifies as an ‘S’ upgrade. The S upgrades of the past were much bigger than this. I’m amazed they haven’t done more with the ‘dynamic island’. When they announced it a couple of years ago I thought it would be the next big thing but years later, it just sits there, fairly pointlessly.
There's no doubt this is a great phone in its own right. but it's now boring and lacklustre. I have the 16 pro max but would rather use my one plus open.
I sent mine back after 3 days. For someone which was always super excited receiving a new iPhone. It is very said how little this phone offers now just 0 difference to an iPhone 13 pro Max or even 12.
The heck ...alreday had unnecessary clicks on that capture button ...what was apple thinking putting a button exactly where people hold their phone .battery has jus been average for me ,dont know what exactly was the battery boost they were talking abt .such a disappointment
The iPhone camera is so good that it is really hard to make it better these days. The pictures coming from the iPhone are consistently sharper and more detailed compared to the competition due to having superior file size which allows them to make the default photos up to 24MP. This is something other companies still struggle with
Blind camera tests disagree with you. Most people seem to prefer the Pixel's photos over the iPhones on average. I believe MKBHD tested with tens and thousands of voters who didn't know which camera took the pictures they were comparing. In Video though I agree iPhone is probably a step ahead.
Going from 14 to 15 to 16 doesn't make any sense, I'm using the 11 and still don't have any issues whatsoever, even after dropping it in a lake kayaking, in to snow while snowboarding...dropping it on the floor...no cracks, breaks, or performance issues, and all I've done is have the battery replaced (this year). I'm looking at the 16 pro, and looking forward to the upgrades that come with the gap in upgrades.
nothing has changed between 11 PM and 16 PM except bigger battery, bigger display, faster chip, better cameras, the built and yeah... camera control! Some people expect iphones to cure cancer by now 😂😅
@Thetechchap i understand, but it only shows how good Apple's OS support is, which is a really good thing, but you can't compare these 2 phones together 😅 they are completely different. I'm actually happy that i know, even if i decide to keep my iPhone 16 PM for 3,4, or even 5 years, i'd still get the same updates that new iPhones will get 🙏
This applies to all candy bar phones. The market is mature, and I struggle to think of what they can add. Perhaps a thermometer like in the Pixel? That's how desperate it is. We have reached peak smartphones, and Apple is not to blame for the disappointment. It is the unrealistic expectations of techies who expect the smartphone industry to continue innovating after 17 years.
@andyH_England exactly 👌 the only reason i bought the 16 PM is because i never had an iPhone before and i thought 16 Pro Max would be a great upgrade from my S23 Ultra! So it's gonna be a completely different experience for me.
Expensive and overrated! They will still make iPhones every year and people will buy it like sheeps! I like cheap ones who can offer me what these expensive ones offering! Never spent more than 300$/€ on a phone
Thanks for the review. Personally, I'd go for the Pro as its easy on the pockets n hands. Love that Apple has given control/options to select the mood/style of the photos during or after the fact. Every photographer his own. Also, great to be able to arrange icons etc on the homepage. I'm a Samung user who will be porting over to ip16 pro. Just waiting for the fan fare to go down and ios 18.1/2 update before I grab one for myself.
Using my new iPhone 16 pro with iOS 18. Wow, this is way ahead of my Samsung ultra (selling it). It’s faster, smoother, feels more well thought out, voice input is excellent, I’m very impressed. It feels great and the level of personalised customisation with things like using menus on the action button (might just use the action button to toggle AOD when in home focus mode), the Dynamic Island, share sheets, focus modes, iOS workflow etc is way ahead of what I could do with android 14. Taking photos and video is a joy. Google has its work cut out! I’m keeping my Sony Xperia as well because it has a 3.5mm headphone socket and SD card slot.

I think MKBHD said this , the iPhone is like the Porsche of smartphones. When you already have the best design and pretty much the best performance what can you do better when you already giving your best? it looks similar to previous models but it's the best looking one today. The same with Porsche 911.

I think if Apple ever decides to make a dual screen iPhone it will be a case-like magnetic attachment. Kind of like the Magic Keyboard for the iPad. They would market it with the iPhone logo on the outside of the attachment and the screen will be on the other side. It would make it twice as expensive, as other competitors and it would be an optional accessory.

Ik the battery, screen size, and camera will be a pretty big change (hopefully in a good way).

seriously? i switched from a 13 Pro to a 16 Pro .. and honestly. Its more or less the same. USB C, always on - ok cool.
Larger screen?
Get the flip phone from Samsung.
Sheesh
A bateria do 16 pro é parecida com o 15 pro max?
Camera control will be like the Touch Bar….some will still love it
Haha I've actually been calling it the touch bar!
I’m returning my 16 Pro and sticking with the 11 Pro for another year. After five generations, I was simply meh about the 16 Pro…it just does some things slightly better. The only real improvement I noticed was the higher refresh rate, so I’ll wait for the base model 17 instead.
lol 13 blows 11 out of the water! U have issues probably mommy’s basement!
Same here. Returned the 16PM and sticking with the 13P
The button and the new wallpaper really impressed me,i'm going for it
I've been a Samsung user all my life and am still running the S22 Ultra.
I think the biggest upgrade is the cooling because the display doesn’t dim as fast like the 15 Pro and other Androids
Which Other Androids?
I have both the 15 and S24U (before switching to Fold 6). The display on S24U and Fold 6 never dim. 😂

Going to go from 11 pro to the 16 pro im excited
Basically, its what the 15 was supposed to be from the start. 16 = fixed 15
15S Pro Max
and 15 was supposed to be 14
15 is fixed 14. 14 is fixed 13. 13 is fixed 12
No it’s not..they just hold back features cause they running out of ideas
Sure Pal😂😂
Every single year: hey, I wasn’t expecting much from this year’s refresh, but oh I was pleasantly surprised! Sure. We’ve been into majorly diminishing returns for new features for yearly updates for many years now, which is fine of course considering where smartphone as a device category is. It’s matured.
Like that with software too. Wouldn’t be upset if they all skipped the yearly refresh and came out with new stuff every few years.
I feel like last year was more significant
@@ThetechchapYeah, for me the weight reduction on the 15 pro line was very welcome. The Pro Max was getting to brick level weight.
My thought exactly. What more can you expect from a very matured device category either than improvement and refinement?
60Hz on the base model is like spitting on the face, battery is a good improvement, action button is a gimmick like in Sony, the rest is software that might as well be on 4 years older generations
In defense of the button. When it finally functions the way it's supposed to, I think it'll be good. I don't know why it wasn't ready at release but I heard from a few sources that in a future software release it will function just like a DSLR. Half click is focus and full click takes the picture. THAT I will like. I agree with you though, as of right now it's a gimmick that isn't overly helpful.
Yass finally i got popcorns🍿ready!!!
I like your way of recording while going about your day. Refreshing and relatable.
What about the 16 pro? Or when you say "16" you mean 16 pro? 16 pro has the X75 modem no?
I've been wrong about the x75 this whole time! It's the reason I was thinking about switching from Android (along with some other things). Is that the same modem for both the 16 and pro, or could the pro have the x75? Where can I find out more info on the x71 and where it's mentioned. Thanks for the info!
I’ve been really loving the new camera button! I take a lot of pics & vids and it’s nice to be able to the zoom right on the button. Also great that it automatically starts rec vid when you hold and press the button

Turn 12mp ultra wide into "48mp" by literally dividing every pixel 4 times. Then use "binding" to get 12mp of 48mp to "capture more light". Much wow. Crazy new tech.
Not for a single moment did they claim it captures more light, all they said is now you can capture more detailed macros in 48MP, which is true.
Why reinvent the wheel if it's already working? I'm referring specifically to the design, not the internal components or functionality of the iPhone.

If you can get a good deal on a 15, i'd get that for USB-C. And if it's a 15 Pro, you get Apple Intelligence as well.

I don't think you remember how incremental the s upgrades were. They're pretty similar to what the 15 to 16 is.
Which upgrade besides the Dynamic Island and 120 Hz screen in the past 5 years is more than an ‘S’ upgrade in your opinion?
Its up to developers to run with it i guess and they were a bit reserved.

5 years though - and fundamentally they work the same, and both support iOS 18. It's just a thougth

I think MKBHD said this , the iPhone is like the Porsche of smartphones. When you already have the best design and pretty much the best performance what can you do better when you already giving your best? it looks similar to previous models but it's the best looking one today. Apple intelligence will be nice to have once it’s fully out since I use ChatGPT quite often. And i like the smaller bezels and bigger screen. It’s just a really clean and sleek iPhone- I went with the black titanium.
@@neoyokvio thank you for the info I also have a 12 pro max
@@FactFlowCircuit no problem, the 12 pro max is still really good phone if you decide to keep it & the 16 pro max is a cool upgrade as well if you end up doing that
I’m on a 13 max and really do want this upgrade but as a pro as I’d like a smaller phone but is it worth doing so?? Idk…
Love my pro max 16 ❤❤❤❤, my 14 pro max had better battery life ?
I think if Apple ever decides to make a dual screen iPhone it will be a case-like magnetic attachment. Kind of like the Magic Keyboard for the iPad. They would market it with the iPhone logo on the outside of the attachment and the screen will be on the other side. It would make it twice as expensive, as other competitors and it would be an optional accessory.
I have an iphone 16 pro max on order. Would appreciate a review on its qualities as a telephone, which is not obvious to me as this is my first apple purchase at the age of 86.
I’ll probably get the 16PM cuz I like having the better screen, especially the AOD cuz I’d use standby. It’d also be nice to just easily glance down and see the time. Another thing is the 6.9” screen. I Like your videos btw 👍🏻
My wife is upgrading from the 12 PM to 16 PM, I'm more of an android guy but definitely excited to see the difference
18:36 why everyone breaking their necks to look at you?😂
Because I’m shooting a selfie video and look like a knob
Gone from a standard 12 to 16 Pro... its soooooo much smoother.
Would love just a quick summary of your thoughts comparing all of the 16 models. Why you would choose one model over another.
