Friend, the doctrine of the Trinity has been embraced by some of the greatest intellectual giants in the West. A little more humility would become you. The doctrine states that God is one in essence and three in person, which means subsistent relation. The Father, Son, and Spirit are all the one God, though they differ in the measure that the Father begets the Son and the Father and Son together breathe out the Spirit.
My late uncle was a lifelong Catholic and he once told me the best sermon he ever heard was one Trinity Sunday many years ago in his then parish in Woking, Surrey (UK). The priest went to the pulpit to deliver his sermon and said, "I'm supposed to say something about The Holy Trinity, but the truth is I don't understand it." With that the priest left the pulpit and continued with the mass. My late uncle was very impressed.
I believe in the Holy Spirit. I believe in the significance of Jesus. I understand the concept of God the father... But the explanations of the Holy Trinity have never resonated with me.

Jesus Christ is NOT GOD please stop pushing people away from Christianity. Jesus is the son of GOD he was our gift from GOD for atonement. When you say Jesus is GOD it become difficult to save other lost souls. In religion we all must acknowlege that there is ONE GOD and prophets which are all from GOD. Don't be silly. There aren't three "parts" to God. God is simple and indivisible in his essence. The persons refer to subsistent relations within the unity of the divine essence. There are three because the Father knows himself (in the Son) and loves himself (in the Spirit).

Just like when it is said therefore a man shall leave his father join to his wife and the two shall become one does not mean they fuse together. Jesus repeatedly reference his father and said his authority came from his father (the one who sent him). I don’t know why the church keeps sugar coating this when Jesus kept referencing his father. When you get to Luke 1:68 where Zacharia the father of John the Baptist gets his voice back and prophecies about Jesus " God has visited His people." In case you missed that one, you can get to chapter 7:14-16 the widow in Nain lost her son and Jesus raises him and the people are amazed and say in 16. "God has visited His people." No Prophet of God would ever say a greater that this is here now, yet Jesus had that authority. No prophet spoke like this. All the Gospels are full of the Deity of Jesus throughout. Just like someone convinced you that the Trinity is not Biblical and you accepted it, the opposite is true of the Bible believing Trinitarian. I have yet to meet an orthodox Bible believing born again spirit filled believer in Christ that needed to have the Trinity explained or coached into them..Never. They believe the moment they are saved by grace through faith in Christ. It is as simple as that ! Christian's early on from Peter, John, the apostles, Paul and early Church Fathers all saw the trinity clearly as a concept within the pages of the Bible. In the OT the Angel of the Lord kept coming into view, wrestling with Jacob. Standing in front of Joshua, going up in the flames of an offering given by Samson's parents. The Holy Spirit is God, the Bible says over and over that God is Spirit. 2 Samuel 23 verse 2 and 3, tell us directly that the Holy Spirit is God. We cannot ignore Scriptures we do not like. We cannot try to explain them away. The time is short, and those who claim they know the Bible yet claim that Jesus is not God in the flesh have "believing" issues that must be dealt with before you stand before His return. I urge all that have an interest and a claim on this topic to forget what was taught to you before and read the Scriptures anew and this time you ask the Lord to be your guide through the Scriptures. I have a question? Is there any other persons in The Trinity other than The Father, The Son, and Holy Ghost? For example: Is The Burning Bush from Exodus 3, Pillar of Cloud by Day & Pillar of Cloud by Night from Exodus 13, Man that wrestled with Jacob from Genesis 32, Angelic Man that spoke with Abraham from Genesis 18, etc.. No wonder I was so confused as a Catholic kid growing up. We were taught that 3 = 1. The Catholic bible that I have destroys the trinity if you read it without forced trinity understanding. It also has God's name Jehovah. The nuns and Christian Brothers lied to my face when I asked if God had a name, even in the face of the Lord's Prayer. "God doesn't have or need a name." was their reply. Then I found God's name in my wife's KJV, but saw the LORD in other places meant God's name was removed. The Catholic bible didn't use the capitals at all, 7000+ times. So I bought a few more bible translations (long before on-line versions)' and ALL admitted that God has a name, just had different opinions on whether to use it or not. So I invested in a Hebrew/Greek-English interlinear 4 vol. bible set that had Jehovah all 7000+ times. So God has a name, to the shame of the Catholic church. Changing the bible from smoke-screen Latin to archaic English revealed countless lies taught by the CC. That confused even more the doctrine of the trinity, which made no sense to me. They told me it was an incomprehensible 'mystery', but contradictions by the dozens were still hindering bible understanding. They showed me the Athanasian Creed, which just put admittedly contradictory and incomprehensible terms into writing. "Can't question it. It's a mystery." I was told. More research followed from my bibles and the library and copiers. Everything I was taught in Catholic grade and high school were lies. No wonder I never cracked a bible in 12 years in Catholic schools. Never required to own one. Just a catechism book and missal. So 3=1, the father is the son, and a holy ghost (def. ghost= demon) is co-equal to God. I said good-bye without looking back and without regrets. I've been asked by family if I'm ever coming back. I said "Would you hire an accountant who couldn't add 1 + 1 + 1 and come up with 3?" After saying a 1000 rosaries (after confessions), I finally learned what the Lord's prayer meant. Why return to ignorance?

As a Muslim i will never understand the trinity. God by definition is the most high, the most powerful, etc... You cant have Two most highs if none of them is higher than the other, they would then be equal to eachother and therefore none of them is a god because God by definition has no equals. If there was no one supreme God and instead we had multiple gods who are equally most powerful then their all-powerful nature means they would naturally seek to overpower eachother and each will be soveirgn of his own separate share of the creation which wont allow for the harmony and the fine tuning of the universe which makes our life possible.

Have you seen the movie Avatar? A single being controlling two characters: the human and the extraterrestrial. The Trinity is something "like" that, but with the addition that God can be in several places at the same time, and therefore "be" multiple persons at the same time. And for his extreme Oneness differentiate himself from each one.

As an atheist, i came here for answers, to understand what i may believe in one day. i am now more confused than ever. not only do I not understand how these three entities are one, but now i cant understand how an entity, can literally be an emotion.
First off, it’s good that you’re here, second, it’s okay. It’s not easy to grasp but what meta truth or potential meta truth is? God is love bc God is not separate from his attributes, God is simple, not composed of parts. God is what comes before all else. Free Will, consciousness, personhood, capacity for complex emotional expression etc. Are all abilities that ultimately stem from God for Christians. This means that imma technical sense, God is not personal, but pre-personal, or supre-personal, or hmm super-personal. In other words whatever it means to be a person greater in God, just as God’s knowledge and power is greater. So this means that if God exist, it necessarily follows that God’s personhood is plural greater than any human beings. I’m simple terms God is super-personal, and within God is a community as such. It will take some studying to better understand this stuff, bc it’s pretty big brained, even I have trouble getting and yet it does make sense to me now.

Introduction of the Trinity doctrine by the Council of Nicea(??) was a mistake since it is based on human inference which cannot be relied upon. This makes modern Christianity especially Catholicism a many god religion. People nowadays pray to Jesus and his earthly mother like they are God thus breaking the commandment have no other gods but me. Or would you rather the commandment have no other god except Jesus, the Spirit and I? On a side note, how is it that the people who killed Jesus are now the authority in religious matters?
I get that in order to be Love there may need to be another entity to love. The problem is, if there’s another entity it is necessarily a different entity. Ultimately we are all made up of God Himself, physically. But in our current form, we are separate entities. So I don’t see how God the Father and Jesus can truly be the same entity following the logic of “to be Love there must be someone else to love”. However, I’m not at all convinced that there necessarily needs to have always been someone else for God to love in order for Him to be Love.

Friend, the doctrine of the Trinity has been embraced by some of the greatest intellectual giants in the West. A little more humility would become you. The doctrine states that God is one in essence and three in person, which means subsistent relation. The Father, Son, and Spirit are all the one God, though they differ in the measure that the Father begets the Son and the Father and Son together breathe out the Spirit.
My late uncle was a lifelong Catholic and he once told me the best sermon he ever heard was one Trinity Sunday many years ago in his then parish in Woking, Surrey (UK). The priest went to the pulpit to deliver his sermon and said, "I'm supposed to say something about The Holy Trinity, but the truth is I don't understand it." With that the priest left the pulpit and continued with the mass.

Jesus Christ is NOT GOD please stop pushing people away from Christianity. Jesus is the son of GOD he was our gift from GOD for atonement. Is there any other persons in The Trinity other than The Father, The Son, and Holy Ghost?
For example:
Is The Burning Bush from Exodus 3, Pillar of Cloud by Day & Pillar of Cloud by Night from Exodus 13, Man that wrestled with Jacob from Genesis 32, Angelic Man that spoke with Abraham from Genesis 18, etc.. Time is made up of Past, Present and Future.
Past is not Present and Present is not Future. But all are fully Time on their own.

They are subsistent relations, three different ways of possessing the one Godhead.
No wonder I was so confused as a Catholic kid growing up. We were taught that 3 = 1. The Catholic bible that I have destroys the trinity if you read it without forced trinity understanding. It also has God's name Jehovah. The nuns and Christian Brothers lied to my face when I asked if God had a name, even in the face of the Lord's Prayer. "God doesn't have or need a name." was their reply.
Then I found God's name in my wife's KJV, but saw the LORD in other places meant God's name was removed. The Catholic bible didn't use the capitals at all, 7000+ times. So I bought a few more bible translations (long before on-line versions)' and ALL admitted that God has a name, just had different opinions on whether to use it or not. So I invested in a Hebrew/Greek-English interlinear 4 vol. bible set that had Jehovah all 7000+ times.
So God has a name, to the shame of the Catholic church. Changing the bible from smoke-screen Latin to archaic English revealed countless lies taught by the CC.
That confused even more the doctrine of the trinity, which made no sense to me. They told me it was an incomprehensible 'mystery', but contradictions by the dozens were still hindering bible understanding. They showed me the Athanasian Creed, which just put admittedly contradictory and incomprehensible terms into writing. "Can't question it. It's a mystery." I was told.
More research followed from my bibles and the library and copiers. Everything I was taught in Catholic grade and high school were lies. No wonder I never cracked a bible in 12 years in Catholic schools. Never required to own one. Just a catechism book and missal.
So 3=1, the father is the son, and a holy ghost (def. ghost= demon) is co-equal to God. I said good-bye without looking back and without regrets.
I've been asked by family if I'm ever coming back. I said "Would you hire an accountant who couldn't add 1 + 1 + 1 and come up with 3?"
After saying a 1000 rosaries (after confessions), I finally learned what the Lord's prayer meant. Why return to ignorance?

As a Muslim i will never understand the trinity.
God by definition is the most high, the most powerful, etc... You cant have Two most highs if none of them is higher than the other, they would then be equal to eachother and therefore none of them is a god because God by definition has no equals.
If there was no one supreme God and instead we had multiple gods who are equally most powerful then their all-powerful nature means they would naturally seek to overpower eachother and each will be soveirgn of his own separate share of the creation which wont allow for the harmony and the fine tuning of the universe which makes our life possible.
The Christian Trinity is the Mother, Father, and Son. The "Holy Spirit," has always been the Female and is often depicted as the Dove and Ark (womb). The father and son are one.
Even some Christians don't believe in a trinity it came with it's pagan roots almost three hundred years after Christ.

Brothers and sisters I don't mean to offend anybody at all but I have always wanted to understand trinity but it only makes me mad and want scratch my brain are there three or one or two please answer. I have the right to know.
Have you seen the movie Avatar? A single being controlling two characters: the human and the extraterrestrial. The Trinity is something "like" that, but with the addition that God can be in several places at the same time, and therefore "be" multiple persons at the same time. And for his extreme Oneness differentiate himself from each one.
I like the video, but I'm not sure it clears anything up...as opposed to muddies the waters. You describe various metaphorical trinities, but not really THE Trinity. How can you describe the Trinity without even mentioning the Holy Spirit (and its role)?

Nonsense. The doctrine of the Trinity is the full explication of the claim in 1 John that God is love. If love is what God is, then there must be within the unity of God a play of lover, beloved, and love.

You're just being silly here. The Creed teaches that there is one God. The three persons share equally in that one Godhead. Thus, one God, three persons.

If a trinity belief was required of earlier christians, consisting of converted Jews (apostles and disciples)' and those converting to this brand new Christian religion, why did no Gospel writers mention trinity? Why didn't Paul teach it, the apostle to the nations? He had the job of introducing both the God of Israel and his son, Jesus. He couldn't introduce the holy ghost by name as it had none. A ghost, by definition, is the 'spirit' of a dead human, actually a demon posing as a departed one. So technically, if you insist on the Holy Ghost being an entity or being, the the term would be Holy Demon. But no, Holy Spirit, not ghost, is God's force, not an entity.

First off, it’s good that you’re here, second, it’s okay. It’s not easy to grasp but what meta truth or potential meta truth is?
God is love bc God is not separate from his attributes, God is simple, not composed of parts. God is what comes before all else. Free Will, consciousness, personhood, capacity for complex emotional expression etc. Are all abilities that ultimately stem from God for Christians. This means that imma technical sense, God is not personal, but pre-personal, or supre-personal, or hmm super-personal. In other words whatever it means to be a person greater in God, just as God’s knowledge and power is greater. So this means that if God exist, it necessarily follows that God’s personhood is plural greater than any human beings.
I’m simple terms God is super-personal, and within God is a community as such. It will take some studying to better understand this stuff, bc it’s pretty big brained, even I have trouble getting and yet it does make sense to me now.
The Trinity concept is a perfect example of how humans over time have an innate tendency to complicate a very simple and elegant idea.

God went through a process. Becoming man, died and resurrected to become the life-giving Spirit. Now all the God is and has, is in THIS SPIRIT! And now with our inner most part (our spirit (little 's' - 1 Thes 5:23) we can receive all that he is! By calling OH LORD JESUS we get the triune God!

Introduction of the Trinity doctrine by the Council of Nicea(??) was a mistake since it is based on human inference which cannot be relied upon. This makes modern Christianity especially Catholicism a many god religion. People nowadays pray to Jesus and his earthly mother like they are God thus breaking the commandment have no other gods but me. Or would you rather the commandment have no other god except Jesus, the Spirit and I? On a side note, how is it that the people who killed Jesus are now the authority in religious matters?
I get that in order to be Love there may need to be another entity to love. The problem is, if there’s another entity it is necessarily a different entity.
Ultimately we are all made up of God Himself, physically. But in our current form, we are separate entities.
So I don’t see how God the Father and Jesus can truly be the same entity following the logic of “to be Love there must be someone else to love”.
However, I’m not at all convinced that there necessarily needs to have always been someone else for God to love in order for Him to be Love.

Separation causes division, which causes unnecessary chaos, unnecessary negativity as well. my religion is I believe in god and the trinity and the trinity makes up the one god . My religion is love, peace and INDIVIDUAL love between god and me. Not god and we(meaning other peoples opinions) The individual relationship is between me and Jesus, me and the Holy Ghost and the Heavenly Father. People separate them when it’s a holy relationship. When in reality god is all three in 1. There is only one and he is made up of 3, the 3 help each other become one. It’s a truly beautiful relationship
