  • Do the three Persons of the Trinity truly exist? In this message entitled “One in Essence, Three in Person,” Dr. Sproul helps us understand some of the language that was used by the early church as they sought to carefully explain the doctrine of the Trinity.
This is the 6th in a series of messages by Dr. Sproul on the Trinity. See other videos in the series: • The Mystery of the Tri...

I am a former Oneness Pentecostal . I came to see even without contending for a doctrine of the Trinity , that God the Father , Jesus Christ , and the Holy Spirit exist eternally and are in unity with one another . I see the concept of persons based upon the fact that God the Father , Jesus Christ , and the Holy Ghost have a personal relationship with one another and with Christians .

@@thegreatestoftheseislove1c379 . It is when someone is able to see God the Father , Jesus Christ , and the Holy Spirit as someone personal such as the fact that they speak , they love , the Holy Spirit leads and guides , the Holy Spirit convicts Christians of sin , God the Father has a will , and Jesus Christ did His Father's will , Scripture is clear that there is only one God and one Spirit .The one Spirit is capable of existing personally as God the Father , Jesus Christ , and the Holy Ghost . Many professing Christians are not willing to take the time to analyze Scripture regarding the identity and existence of God . That is why many of them tell lies about the doctrine of the Trinity . The concept of the Trinity existed in Scripture long before it became a doctrine by name . It did not come from a pagan doctrine like many Oneness Pentecostals ignorantly believe .

I am amazed that all of the authors of Scripture were inspired by God to write about God in such a way that there is no doubt who God the Father , Jesus Christ , and the Holy Spirit are . This isn't the "mystery of godliness". This is :" These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; 15 but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and [a]ground of the truth. 16 And without controversy great is the [b]mystery of godliness:
God[c] was manifested in the flesh,
      Justified in the Spirit,
      Seen by angels,
      Preached among the Gentiles,
      Believed on in the world,
      Received up in glory.
I've been studying on the trinity for a while now and can I just say that there is a genuine need for thorough comprehensive study of the fundamental Bible truths we hold. People rely so much on the Pope, pastors, prophets and others to teach them the Bible, that they are prone to putting the pastor's word above the Lord's. We need to study the Bible ourselves through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We have to allow God to speak for Himself.
This is what God has opened my eyes to, now I see why sometimes Athiests and Agnostics and people of other faith think Christians are brainwashed, because we rather rely on pastors and church leaders to teach us about God other than having a relationship with God, studying His word, and questioning the doctrines that we are taught. The Lord laid it on my heart to tell you this. To tell anyone that would listen this. The doctrine of the trinity is false. I've studied the history of the trinity, tracing from Athanasius to Constantine and thanks to the Holy Spirit, I've left that belief. I believe in Jesus Christ, He is the Father incarnated. The Father, Son, and HS are not sperate "persons" but one person who has revealed Himself in more ways than one.
It's important to know, especially when telling others about our faith, the truth about out beliefs. The Trinity has always been a hot topic in the church for centuries after Jesus ascended. It's nothing new. This is a brief summary of the history concerning this doctrine. But centuries ago, in the late 200s and early 300s, the leaders of the Christians church were trying to figure out what the NT books meant when they talked about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Because we have to note that the NT books were compiled around the 3 or 4 century. And this caused confusion
The church leaders had no idea the relationship between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. So out of confusion they began coming up with theories, marking out their positions, kicking each other out of the church, and breaking up (this is one of the things that caused the East and West schism which was the break of communion between the Catholic church and other churches)
and they told everyone who didn't believe in their doctrine that they would go to hell. The topic of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit was one of, if not the biggest topic among Christian leaders in the year 325. The Roman Emperor Constantine who is sometimes seen as "the first Christian" emperor when in reality the guy was a pagan and saw religion as a way to expand and unite his empire. So Constantine along with some of the church bishops held a council in the town called Nicaea, and these bishops came up with the first version of the statement of faith that attempted to define the relationship between the Son and the Father. The statement they drafted is called the Nicene Creed which is what the vast majority of Christians and Christian churches have accepted as essential doctrine. And yet this is where the church got off track why? because although the Nicene creed does not contain the words "trinity" or "persons" (neither does the Bible by the way), what it DID say about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit set the church on a course towards the doctrine of the Trinity of persons. One or 2 centuries later, the Athanasian creed, another statement of faith which was composed and assembled by St Athanasius, greatly expanded on the Nicene creed and DID include the words "trinity" and persons. This introduced contradiction, confusion, and polytheism into the church even though no one wants to admit it.
(notice how none of them, not the church fathers, not Tertullian, or even St. Athanasius called upon the Lord, like the people in the Bible did. Whenever the children of the Lord wanted to know about God they called to Him and He answered. But in this situation, no one did that. None of them claim to even be inspired by God. All of this confusion was created by men trying to figure God out without the Spirit of God. God is not the author of confusion, but we get ourselves confused when we don't consult God about anything.

17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent."

      b) And JESUS CHRIST, being the SON, he is not the FATHER, otherwise he's the Father of himself and the Son of himself. Absurd.
      c) The FATHER sent HIS SON/JESUS CHRIST; therefore, the Father sent himself being also the Son. Absurd.
      d) The FATHER gave power to the SON/JESUS CHRIST; therefore, the Father is the giver and the recipient of what he gave being the Son. Absurd.
      e) The SON/JESUS CHRIST prayed to the FATHER; therefore, the SON/JESUS CHRIST prayed to himself or talking to himself being the Father also. Absurd.
      f) The FATHER to whom the SON/JESUS CHRIST prayed was in HEAVEN; the SON/JESUS CHRIST was here on earth and yet ...???

They are all literally so spellbound by their idol that they don't seem to notice that during this talk he basically calls Jesus and God "liars" and "hypocrites" because the Biblical Greek word for "hypocrites" refers to ACTORS playing ROLES and wearing MASKS.
That's exactly what Sproul (so evidently in love with pagan philosophers too) does here in defining "three personas".
All Trinitarians call Jesus a liar because they imply he "pretended" to be born, pretended to be a man, pretended to be tempted, pretended to die etc.
Trinitarians (and Modalists) ignore and despise the first epistle of John because it warns them and exposes them.
It was written to defend the identity of Jesus against Gnostics and we need it today more than ever.
"Who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ ["God's anointed one"]?
He is antichrist, that denies the father and the son"
      (1st John 2:22)
"Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh ["sarx/sarki"] is of God. And every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world"
      (1st John 4:2-3)
‭"When Jesus came into the coasts of Cæsarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying
"Who do men say that I, the son of man, am?" And they said: "Some say that you are John the Baptist: some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets".

He inserted his own views and personal biases into Scripture all the time. He was just too subtle for most people to notice.
Listen again to the first few minutes. He cannot simply read the text without inserting stuff like "deity" which isn't there.
He reads out Hebrews chapter one which repeatedly calls Jesus the SON of God.
And then he goes on to imply that Jesus wasn't really a son...
Because if he's a "DEITY" then he's not really a son i.e he wasn't born (and wasn't "conceived" in the womb of Mary) and the Gospel accounts of Jesus's birth are lies and Jesus also pretended to be just a man.
By Jesus constantly omitting to say he was GOD, he was essentially lying.
That's what Trinitarians, who are in love with doctrines of man, say.
Sproul then goes on to explain that "persons" don't mean "persons" and he probably goes to great lengths to do that because Jesus says "God is a SPIRIT" in John chapter 4.
      He's certainly not a "person".
But Sproul talks about MASKS, which ACTORS playing ROLES used.
Did you know that the Biblical Greek word for "hypocrites" refers to the SAME THING i.e actors wearing masks??!!
He's calling God and Jesus "hypocrites" and "liars" and you don't even notice because like most, you're mesmerized by his supposed "cleverness".
      Well, Satan is clever too.
GOD is CLEAR and transparent, not subtle and "clever".
It's the last straw when Sproul - out of pure vanity - then (like Roman Catholic academics) appeals to PAGAN Greek philosophy.
The Catholic doctrine of Transubstantiation comes from a concept by the pagan Aristotle.
Pagan philosophy is OF THE WORLD! It has nothing to do with the wisdom of GOD: 1 Corinthians 1:17 thru 2:16.
Why not just accept Jesus's affirmation of Peter's declaration of his identity in Matthew 16?? 👇
      Jesus calls him "BLESSED".
I strongly suggest you repent of idolizing men and put your trust in what Jesus says about himself.
God is his father, indwelling him (John 14:10-11) and the Holy Spirit is the spirit of God.
      It's very simple.
PS I'm no modalist either because it is insanity.
There is one God, one son of God and Messiah ("God's anointed one") and one Holy Spirit.
"When Jesus came into the coasts of Cæsarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying
"Who do men say that I, the son of man, am?" And they said: "Some say that you are John the Baptist: some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets".
      He asked them:
*But who do you say that I am*
And Simon Peter answered and said:
*You are the Christ, the Son of the living God*
And Jesus answered and said unto him: *Blessed are you* Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood has not revealed it unto you, but my Father who is in heaven"

Sproul did not clarify anything about the Trinity, which would be impossible. Does a Christian need to believe in the Trinity to be saved? And if so, why did our Savior, nor the disciples, ever teach the doctrine of the Trinity? Why would Christ allow a council of men to come together to argue who God is (The Council of Nicaea in 325 CE), and thereby seek to define God? Can mankind define God? No, God reveals Himself to mankind. 1 John 5:7-8, The Johannine Comma is an interpolation according to Christian scholars (words added) to the Bible by over-zealous Trinitarians, who wanted some testimony to the Trinity, due to the fact that in the Bible there is none. Matthew 28:19 has come under suspicion, a commandment allegedly given by Christ to the disciples, but the disciples only baptized in the Savior’s name only, as demonstrated in the Book of Acts. The early church historian Eusebius, wrote (published circa 316 CE) in his book, Matthew 28:19, that Christ actually said, "Go and make disciples of all the nations in my name" (Eusebius, The History of the Church, p. 68, PENGU1N CLASSICS, 1965). The Trinity has only really existed since the 4th century. Historian H.G. Wells factually stated, "There is no evidence that the apostles of Jesus ever heard of the Trinity-at any rate from Him" (The Outline of History, Vol. 2, p. 499). Martin Luther is quoted in a sermon saying, "It is indeed true that the name 'Trinity' is nowhere to be found in the Holy Scriptures, but has been conceived and invented by man" (The Sermons of Martin Luther, Vol. 3, p. 406, 1988). It is time that the false Trinity Doctrine cease to exist in Christianity! Catholics and Protestants agree that “Whoever will be saved: before all things, it is necessary to keep the Catholic faith… unless he keeps this faith whole, he will perish everlastingly...And the Catholic faith is this: we worship one God in Trinity” (Catholicism, p. 69, 1961). Protestant professor of Theology James White, states, “The Trinity doctrine is misunderstood as well as ignored. It is so misunderstood that a majority of Christians when asked, give incorrect and at times downright heretical definitions of the Trinity” (James White, The Forgotten Trinity, p. 16). According to James White, around 75% of Christians, who think themselves to be Trinitarians, are actually Modalists. One God who at different times represents Himself in three different modes of being: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. If belief in the Trinity doctrine is so critical to our salvation, then why did Christ and the disciples not preach the Trinity, which historically developed over 300 years after Christ? To say that one must believe in the Trinity in order to be saved, when Christ never stipulated the doctrine as a prerequisite for salvation is the grossest form of legalism! The man-made Trinity Doctrine is so ingrained into the imagination of Christians for salvation when Christ and the apostles never ever taught it, that many will actually stand condemned for believing in the Trinity according to the Tradition of men, and not of God. Christ warned us about teaching doctrines without one thus says the LORD! And He...said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men…” He said to them, “All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition” (Mark 7:6-9). Christians do not need to believe in the Trinity in order to receive salvation and eternal life in the Kingdom of God! The Trinity is a useless Doctrine based solely on the misunderstanding of men. It is time for Christians to free themselves from the doctrines of men.

@@S.R.M. Exactly. It is a man made, antichrist doctrine that stops people from having a relationship with God THROUGH Jesus ("one mediator between God and man, the *man* Christ Jesus"), which misrepresents God and Jesus and which convinces people that they cannot be like Jesus (because "he's God" 🤦🏻‍♀️) which is what we're CALLED to be!!
Have you noticed that Trinitarians and Modalists HATE and ignore the first epistle of John??
That's because it challenges and exposes them.
And warns them, especially in 1st John 4:2-3.
Jesus calls Peter "blessed" for declaring his identity.
He also never contradicts John the Baptist, Nathaniel, Martha or anyone else for declaring him as SON OF GOD and MESSIAH ("God's anointed one").
Jesus would never say God indwells him (John 14:10-11) if he actually is God.
      It would make no sense.
But that's what Trinitarians imply: that it was all a big pretense, from his birth to his temptations to his death (because Scripture tells us he was CONCEIVED in Mary's womb and it also tells us that God cannot be tempted and cannot die.
So they're either very wrong or Scripture is).
‭"When Jesus came into the coasts of Cæsarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying
"Who do men say that I, the son of man, am?" And they said: "Some say that you are John the Baptist: some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets".

What god do you worship, or have defined? Are you Oneness?

@@billschlegel1 Thank you for your kind suggestions.
Most Christians believe the doctrine of the Trinity to be biblical, and they cite Matthew 28:18-20 or 1 John 5:7. But is the following the original quote of Christ? “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” These verses are the modern-day rendition identifying an interpolation, so the question must be asked, “Did Christ speak every word found in these verses?” The first Church Historian Eusebius (quotes Matthew 28:19 as it appeared in the early 4th century, Christ said, “Go and make disciples of all nations in My name” (Matthew 28:19, as it was originally quoted, Eusebius, The History of the Church, p. 68, Penguin Classics, 1965). Note, He never said, “...baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.” Which commandment did the disciples hear? It appears the latter quoted by Eusebius from an original manuscript of the NT, for there is no instance of the disciples ever baptizing anyone “In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost,” according to the New Testament! On baptisms specifically were done in the name of {YAHSHUA}, Martin Luther notes, “The apostles certainly used this formula in baptizing in the name of Christ only, as we read in the Acts of the Apostles,’ citing Acts 2:38; 10:48; and 19:5” (Erik H. Herrmann, Paul W. Robinson, The Annotated Luther, Volume 3: Church and Sacraments. Fortress Press. p. 66, 2016). In a documented sermon, Martin Luther made this astonishing statement, “It is indeed true that the name ‘Trinity’ is nowhere to be found in the Holy Scriptures, but has been conceived and invented by man” (The Sermons of Martin Luther, Vol. 3, 1988, p. 406).
The disciples of Christ in the first two or more centuries did not know of any doctrine of the Trinity. Historically, “There is no evidence that the apostles of Jesus ever heard of the trinity-at any rate from him” (H. G. Wells, The Outline of History, Vol. 2, p. 499, 1920). Therefore, without a doubt, The so-called Great Commission, as written is an interpolation: "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19, the words “...in the name of the Father and of the Son, and the Holy Ghost” were added centuries later). The disciples were to make disciples in His name, and they were baptized in the name of Christ only as the NT gives evidence.
The formula is mentioned in the Didache (7:1-3), and it is mostly accepted as authentic due to its supporting manuscript evidence (Everett Ferguson, Baptism in the Early Church, 2013, pp. 134-5). Nevertheless, some scholars have held the view that the passage in the Didache is an interpolation as it is absent from the first few centuries of early Christian quotations, in which case it is believed it would be part of an apostolic or early Christian oral tradition from which both the received texts of Matthew and the Didache emerged, however, the conclusion is the church only baptized in the name of Christ. The view of the passage as an interpolation was in recent times maintained, and this particular line of opposing arguments by Trinitarians is pure eisegesis, meaning the process of interpreting a text in such a way as to introduce one's presuppositions, agendas, or biases, that artificially supports the Trinitarian formula, and based on interpolated verses added to the New Testament. Catholics and Protestants would agree with Protestant Theologian James White, who writes, “We hang a person’s very salvation upon the acceptance of the doctrine…We must know, understand, and love the Trinity to be fully completely Christian” (The Forgotten Trinity, pp. 14-15). And yet most other scholars know that the Trinity is beyond human understanding, “The mind of man cannot fully understand the mystery of the Trinity. He who has tried to understand the mystery fully will lose his mind, but he who would deny the Trinity will lose his soul” (Harold Lindsell and Charles Woodbridge, A Christian Handbook, pp. 51-52, 1953). Nowhere in the New Testament is believing in the Trinity a prerequisite for one’s salvation. Nowhere in the Bible did the LORD ever reveal Himself as a Trinity, or Triune God. Interpolations exist in the New Testament, which are words added later to prove the Trinity. Matthew 28:19 and 1 John 5:7 are proven interpolations, and therefore not of the original Scriptures. 1 John 5:7 is known as “The Johannine comma,” due to a sequence of extra words in 1 John 5:7-8 which appear in later versions of the Bible, but not in earlier Scriptures. Compare these words below in italics in the KJV and the same verse from the newer ESV.
"For there are three that bear record (witness) in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one" (1 John 5:7-8 KJV).
"For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree" (1 John 5:7-8, ESV).
These extra words are generally absent from the early Greek manuscripts. They only appear in the text in late medieval manuscripts, which were done by Trinitarians to bolster the man-made doctrine of the Trinity. The Trinitarian doctrine only existed since the 4th century! A religion unexamined is not worth having. Besides, most Christians when questioned about the Trinity prove to be Modalists, not Trinitarians (The Forgotten Trinity, p. 16). Christians have given examples of the Trinity, and one is the steam, water, and ice, which is not a good example for it only proves modalism. The Trinity is not so much a mystery as it is the doctrine of confusion, and we know that God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33).

100.00 reward: present first the sinners prayer book chapter and verse, now do the same with the trinity. yes the trinity is absurdly catholic. yes, at the council of nicea. it cant be removed from history books. another angle, lets give the sinners prayer a chance first, jesus chose 12 apostles, the were to preach the gospel to all nations jesus told them and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name, beginning at jerusalem luke 24;44, jesus was just risen from the dead, that marks the new testament beginning yet beginning at acts 2;38- the apostles began spreading the gospel. book chapter and verse, when did the apostles preach a set of words to repeat as in the sinners prayer to anyone? according to every trinitarian anything, this shows the apostles ignored jesus, picture this: jesus is screaming ! no peter! why arent you having those people repeat the sinners prayer??? and why did the apostles fail to ever explain something that would be of paramount importance like the trinity? sin is explained everywhere in the bible as is repentance and baptism in jesus name for the remission of sins? why does jesus say he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved. but he that believeth not shall be damned? and not he that believeth and repeats the sinners prayer ???

I think the best way to put what we have in Scripture-using modem wording-is a single living being, eternally existing as three centers of mind, will, emotions, self awareness, and interpersonal relationships with one another. In other words, just as we finite beings get one body/life force to go with a single one mind, will, set of emotions, self awareness, etc. the infinite God has a single life force/divine nature (essence) but 3 centers of consciousness. Always in harmony of will and action but with distinct personal experiences and roles within the life of the one Being Who is God.

Why is it Jesus never took credit for the things he did and taught but credited it all to his Father and yet the churches insist on giving him all the honor? Why did Jesus always talk about his Father's name and pray for his Father's name to be glorified, and yet the churches have removed his Father's name from his own Word and use only Jesus' name ?
The trinity doctrine is a pagan, Greek philosophy inspired apostasy of the 3rd and 4th centuries. It is the chief lie of Christendom, the foundation of her apostasies. The truth of God's Word is simple and easy to understand and requires no 'mystery'. There is one Almighty God, Jehovah, the maker of all things. That includes the firstborn of His creation, His beloved son whom he sent to redeem mankind from sin and death.

I wonder why these preachers are very much strained to prove trinity...
Because in the whole Bible God reveals Himself as Only one living God...
    God is Spirit...
Some Christians especially preachers accept God as spirit so He can dwell different places at a time but couldn't accept or could not believe His presence as man in this world at the same time when He is spirit...
That's why they are trying to show 3 God but as 1 God...
This Trinity, triune or any tri... Is non believers concept..

blessings, i have gone the same route you have. God is indeed one (not three) and i stand by my comments on this list, about same as you, three months ago.
Jesus is not God, but as the begotten son of God, has been sent as the passover lamb and then raised to right hand of the one God, his God too. He is seated on Gods throne of authority and given power to rule, just like Joseph was under Pharaoh in egypt. A foreshadow of what God was going to do.... and the great sorrow is that 99% of christian believers cant see it so dont really "know their lord"
when did you see through the smokescreen of traditional religion? it took me over 30 years with 20 of them knowing something didnt add up but not knowing where to start figuring it out.
1Cor12:1 started me off, a word (gifts) added by translators and in brackets in old KJV and italics in greek interlinear, because it doesnt exist in the original.
changes meaning of 1cor12. they are manifestations of the one which is a gift, holy spirit within, every believer!
i went searching for other meddling, and found heaps. Heb1:2 is strikingly obvious and a favourite trinity proof by the misinformed trinity believers.

All those points you made my friend are normal trinity fare, i was one for over 30 years making those same claims in home groups and bible studies and to the non saved.
In 2017 God woke me up over a simple added word in 1cor12.
It made me wonder what else had been added or adulerated by the averaged belief of the translators, so i prayed for wisdom and Gods truth on what i was reading. Over about 6 weeks half a doz of my familiar proif verses, some you mention here, fell off. They have different contextual meaning in their chapter settings, than the proofs of incarnation and deity to make Jesus God.
Jesus did not come down to be a man, he was born a man by Gods direct creative act within Mary, a second Adam as Paul says, a seed of the woman (Gen3:15) and the lamb of God, who through his obedience (unlike the other perfect man who through self centred will grasped at the temptation, equality with God) (see phil2:6)
So how do you from a trinity point of view describe the meaning of 1Tim2:5? At this question others stop commenting.

God had the bible written for ordinary common people to understand. Not just people with higher education or theologians. Granted the scriptures have some challenges to understand. But I don't think such a basic subject like the Most High's identity would be one them. I think that if God exists within a trinity, he would have that plainly presented in the scriptures so that the common people who it was written for would clearly see it . There are many scriptural reasons I can give to show why I believe the trinity concept is not a biblical teaching. But my comment would be far to long. So I will give just one. John 17:3 There Jesus address the Father as the only true God. There is not even a hint of some triune nature of God in his prayer. Why is that????? Who would know better than Jesus what is the nature of God? And if some believe he was including himself in his prayer to the Father as the only true God, then why didn't he mentioned the holy spirit???? And to all bible readers out there, have you noticed that Jesus prayed many times and they are recorded in the scriptures. But did you noticed that not once did he ever prayed to the holy spirit, but only the Father???? Why is that??? Marinate on that for a while.

To even question "the Trinity" is like lighting a fuse. Someone's bound to explode with anger and accusations like "cult" and "heretic." But being mortal as we are, we don't "get" what it's like to be spirit and are poorly qualified to explain spiritual things. However: in scripture we can we can find plenty of evidence *against* a trinity.
▬ Most New Testament letters begin with greetings such as "Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ." All these greetings *_include both God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ._*
But *_none of them includes the holy spirit._* Not one of them mentions or includes or addresses the holy spirit as a person.
Can we be open-minded enough to consider this as evidence that the apostles - the writers of these letters - did *not* believe the holy spirit was a third person?
▬ John 14:23 shines much-needed light on the topic. Here Jesus explains that both He and the Father would come and dwell in us. *They - the two - would make their "abode" in us:*
⚫ "Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him." (John 14:23)
Jesus said He and the Father would dwell in is. Obviously that's two, not three.
⚫ "But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him." (1 Cor 8:6)
Again, it's two: the Father and the Lord Jesus.
[It's interesting to note the similarity between this verse, and others which show creation of all things was directed (re: "of whom") by the Father . . . and was executed (re: "by whom") -by or through Jesus. Compare to Eph 3:9, Hebrews 1:1,2 and Col 1:16; only the Father and Jesus are in these verses as well.
"And we by him"??? Creation is *still* in process by or through Jesus. Through Jesus sons and daughters for the Fathers eternal family are being created, right now, as they abide in Him.]
The two - the Father and Jesus - function as one. Jesus said:
⚫ "I and my Father are one." (John 10:30) Again, that's two -"I and my Father" . . . no mention of a third person.
"God is a spirit" (John 4:24) and is holy. When we have the holy spirit in us, we have God the Father and Jesus dwelling in us -just as Jesus said in John 14:23: " . . . and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him."
Now notice Romans 8:9: the "Spirit of God" and the "Spirit of Christ" both dwell in us (not some sort of third/other person):
⚫ "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his"
▬ We see God as "us" back in Genesis:
⚫ "And God said, Let *us* make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." (Gen 1:26)
Who are the "us"? The Father and Jesus, as we saw earlier in 1 Cor 8:6 where creation was directed by the Father and executed by Jesus. Here are additional examples:
⚫ "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;" (Hebrews 1:1,2)
⚫ "And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ" (Eph 3:9).
▬ Who are the "us"? It is the Father, and the "Word" who was *with* God from the beginning . . . And *was* God . . . and *was made flesh:* Jesus.
⚫ "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him [just like the "by him" we saw back in 1 Cor 8:6] and without him was not any thing made that was made." (John 1:1-3)
⚫ "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:14)
Here's another example of "us" in Genesis:
⚫ "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of *us,* to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:" (Gen 3:22).
▬ Although the Father and Jesus are "one," they seemingly can have separate identity or person:
⚫ "And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was." (John 17:5)
What about the favorite trinitarian verses?
▬ 1 John 5:7-8 has questionable origin. Look up the "Johannine Comma" ("comma" referring to the phrase in 1 John 5:7,8) to get the detail on that. 1 John 5:7-8 is apparently not found in the majority of early Greek texts, but appears in later Latin texts . . . causing great controversy back in the early 1500s.
▬ Matthew 28:19 is also questionable:
⚫ "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost"
Why is it questionable? Because what the apostles actually *did* was baptize *in Jesus' name only:*
⚫ "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38)
⚫ "(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)" (Acts 8:16)
⚫ "And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days." (Acts 10:48)
⚫ "When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus." (Acts 19:5)
⚫ "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?" (Romans 6:3)

Who is the "Majesty on High" of Hebrews 1:3 that R.C. read? It's not the Trinity.

You are assuming that God is Unitarian and reading your doctrine into the Text. Unitarians/Oneness folks always refer to the number of times something is said, that proves nothing. But if Jesus calls Himself “I Am” states He has seen the Father, came from heaven, had glory with the Father before the world was, accepts worship, bleeds and is flesh and bone and not a spirit as He states the Father is, doesn’t rebuke Thomas for calling Him “God”, is loved by the Father, sent by the Father and goes back to the Father. If Jesus was resurrected bodily, ascended bodily and is seen by the Holy Spirit filled Stephen standing at the right hand of God and will return the same way He ascended then what happens to the Holy Spirit who has sealed Believers? Thank you, Christians need to start studying instead of having everything spoon fed to them.

How can mere mortals be so arrogant as to try and 'define' or 'explain' the true nature of God! The biggest mistake that the 'church' made was to be 'dazzled' by the 'wisdom' & cleverness' of the 'church fathers' who mostly were educated & wealthy PHILOSOPHERS! Paul had warned the brothers Not to heed the 'philosophies of men' ( Col 2:8) Remember too that the apostles who gave us the NT were "Unlettered and ordinary men" They preached that there is just "One God & Father of all persons who is overall" (Eph 4:6) and that Jesus Christ was NOT 'God the son' ( no bible verse says this!) but the Son of God as John summed up in his gospel ( read John 20:31) Amen

The Lord said, "Ask and it shall be given to you." So I asked, and I searched, and I found.

"1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
FATHER - is the NAME of the relationship to the SON (John 17:1-3).
WORD - is the COMMAND of GOD that created LIFE, the universe, and everything (Ps. 148:5, Isa. 45:12, Heb. 11:3, Gen. 1 with verses beginning with the words/command "And God said ...." -- John 1:1.
HOLY GHOST/HOLY SPIRIT - is the LIFE/COMPOSITION/NATURE OF EXISTENCE of the ONLY TRUE GOD/FATHER (Matt. 1:18, John 4:24).
HEAVEN - is GOD'S THRONE and ABODE (Ps. 11:4, Matt. 5:34).
RECORD IN HEAVEN - WORDS of GOD/FATHER brought on earth by the LORD JESUS CHRIST/SON (John 3:34, 7:16, 8:14-28, 12:30, 17:7-8).
    1) There are no three persons/trinity/3 in 1 in the referred verse, 1 John 5:7 of the KJV. The ONLY TRUE GOD/FATHER is there, and none other.
    2) The verse 1 JOHN 5:7 of the KJV is rejected in almost all Bible translations popularly used by the people in the world.
    2) The rejection of the verse 1JOHN 5:7 of the KJV in bibles or bible translations is tantamount to the rejection of the ONLY TRUE GOD/FATHER/HOLY GHOST/SPIRIT, HIS THRONE, and HIS RECORD/COMMAND from the said bible or bible translations.
    3) Therefore, bibles or bible translations which don't contain the exact WORDS written in the verse 1JOHN 5:7 of the KJV are incomplete, inconsistent, unreliable, devil infiltrated, and junks.
    4) And any misappropriate use and interpretations of the most PRECIOUS and SACRED NAMES written therein can lead to the commission of the unpardonable sin -- BLASPHEMY AGAINST THE HOLY GHOST (Matt. 12:31-32) -- the mysterious trinity god of three persons in reference to the verse 1 JOHN 5:7 is blasphemous.
    5) BE WARNED!

You have some very serious presuppositions in your statements. JKVOnly allows for false names, like Jehovah, and a misnomer for where it says Easter, it was used to replace the word Passover.

      1) The trinity/mysterious trinity god of three persons of pagan origin is a contaminating doctrine that has contaminated all the doctrines of the professing Christians and Christian churches in the world. So the trinity is not the only false doctrine adhered to and believed in by Christians..
      2) The LORD JESUS CHRIST/SON OF GOD revealed the existence of false Christs/many (Matt. 24:24) and so the existence of false Christianity with the false Christs as their Christs and false gods as their gods and the most supreme of them is the idiot god of this world that blinded the world (2Cor. 4:4) and also referred to as the "prince of the power in the air (Eph. 2:1-3)" -- he and his hosts of evil spirits in the air are doing wonders in the air that further deceived the gullible people in the world.
      3) To know and recognize the false gods and false Christs, the ONLY TRUE GOD and the TRUE JESUS CHRIST must be RECOGNISED FIRST:
The ONLY TRUE GOD/FATHER (John 17:1-3)/HOLY GHOST (Matt. 1:18)/SPIRIT (John 4:24)
      AND
the TRUE JESUS CHRIST/SON OF GOD (Matt. 1:18, Mark 1:1, John 10:36, 17:1-3)/MAN (John 8:40)/FLESH AND BONES (Luke 24:39)
      ARE
TWO EXISTING BEINGS of DIFFERENT NATURES of EXISTENCE.
      LOGIC 1:
The FATHER is the ONLY TRUE GOD; therefore, the SON/JESUS CHRIST IS NOT GOD; otherwise, he's a false god/god the son, god the Word, mighty god, creator god, father god, man god/false gods/Christs (Matt. 24:24).
      LOGIC 2:
      PREMISES: GOD is a SPIRIT (John 4:24);
      A spirit has no flesh and bones (Luke 24:39);
JESUS CHRIST has flesh and bones (Luke 24:39).
CONCLUSION: Therefore, JESUS CHRIST IS NOT GOD.
      4) Any false recognition to the ONLY TRUE GOD/FATHER is a false god (2Cor. 4:4) and any false recognition to the TRUE JESUS CHRIST/SON OF GOD is a false Christ (Matt. 24:24):
      A) Roman Catholic Church and various protestant churches -- trinity/mysterious trinity god of three persons (1+1+1=1 god).
      B) Jehovah's Witness:
      Father -- Almighty God
      Son/Jesus Christ -- mighty god/false Christ (1+1=2 God/god.
      C) Unitarian and oneness -- the Father is the Son; the son is the Father (1+1=1 god).
      D) MORMON -- the Father is God; the Son is God -- the Godhead (1+1=1 godhead).
      E) INC/Iglesia Ni Cristo:
      God/Father -- Spirit
Holy Spirit - power of God
Jesus Christ -- Word/man; hence, god the Word.
      F) Etc.
      5) Based on my research, no Christian church adhered to the TRUE DOCTRINE: MONOTHEISM/ONE GOD DOCTRINE (Ex. 20:3, John 17:1-3) -- the FULFILMENT of the PROPHECY in AMOS 8:11:
"Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor thirst for water, but of hearing of the words of the LORD."
      CAUSE OF FAMINE:
"John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you,
15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore, the world hateth you.
15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
15;21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
16:1 THESE things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
16:2 They shall put you out of the synagogues; yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
16:3 And all these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me."
The annihilation of the BEARERS OF LIGHT happened during the reign of the RoMAN emperor Constantine of the RoMAN empire in conivance with the RoMAN Catholic Church/RCC.
      5) There has been a FAMINE of HEARING of the WORDS of the LORD in the land/world for over a thousand years from the ancient/dark ages to the the present and it'd remain in the world until the END -- END OF THE WORLD IN HELL FIRE (Matt. 13:38-40).

The easiest way to defend the trinity is to compare it with what the Bible says about God. If the two agree 100%, then that should confirm that the trinity is based squarely on Scripture. But is that the case? Well, judge for yourself:
    1. THE BIBLE says the Father-a single person-is the “only true God.” (John 17:3).
1A. THE TRINITY DOCTRINE says that “every Person [of the trinity] BY HIMSELF [is] God.” That’s THREE GODS!

    2. THE BIBLE says that “for us there is one God, the Father." (1 Cor. 8:6)
2A. THE TRINITY DOCTRINE says “we worship one God IN TRINITY.”

    3. THE BIBLE says the “Father is greater…” (John 14:28)
3A. THE TRINITY DOCTRINE says: “In this trinity, NONE is greater…”

    4. THE BIBLE says Jesus is the Son of God. (John 20:31)
4A. THE TRINITY DOCTRINE says “Jesus IS God,” which makes him a different God from the “one God in trinity."

    5. THE BIBLE says the “Father is greater…” (John 14:28)
5A. THE TRINITY DOCTRINE say that “the whole three persons [of the trinity] are “co-equal.”
    6. THE BIBLE says the holy spirit is not God, but a possession of God and that he gives it to deserving ones. As 1 Thess. 4:8 says: “Therefore, whoever disregards this, disregards not a human being but God, who (also) gives HIS holy Spirit to you.”
6A. THE TRINITY DOCTRINE says that “the holy spirit IS God.” However, A Catholic Dictionary says: “On the whole, the New Testament, like the Old, speaks of the spirit as a divine energy or power.” It adds: “The majority of New Testament texts reveal God’s spirit as someTHING, not someONE.”

    7. THE BIBLE says that the Father is the ONLY person that “the true worshipers” (Christians) should worship. (John @)
7A. THE TRINITY DOCTRINE says: “The trinity in unity is to be worshiped.”

So, do the Bible and the trinity doctrine agree on who God is? Absolutely not! As the New Catholic Encyclopedia says, the trinity “is NOT directly and immediately the Word of God."

They are equal, but their roles are different. The Father is the head of Christ in the same way that the husband is the head of the wife, but that doesn't mean the wife is not equal to the husband. Christ came to do His Father's will, He subjected himself to His Father, but they are equal in worth, righteousness, holiness, love, justice, etc.

Just as Brianna said. Just as husband and wife are equal but the man is the head of the wife, so the Father and son are equal but the Son submits to the Father. Jesus coming to earth and dying for our sins wouldn't have been possible without this willing submission from Jesus to the Father.

The illogicalness and contradition of the 'trinity' has so often been 'justified by the sweeping statement "Oh its just a mystery! we cant expect to know everything about God...et.c." This is false reasoning! the word 'mystery' is from the Greek MYSTERON' which actually means that which IS revealed! ( not the opposite! )Thus Paul says at Rom 16:25,26 "...the revelation of the MYSTERY which was kept secret since the world began BUT NOW IS MADE MANIFEST". ( this word MYSTERON is used elsewhere in the NT in exactly the same way! Thus if the 'trinity' is true ,surely it would have been CLEARLY TAUGHT throughout the NT. Howevert NOT ONCE does either the word, or the creed inclusion "There are three persons in one God" occur anywhere in the NT!

@@marcusvanrensberg6060 I appreciate that, but did you read what I wrote?

THE DOCTRINE OF THE TRINITY WAS DECLARED LONG BEFORE THE COUNCIL OF CHALCEDON IN 451
However, Justin Martyr in 150 A.D. declared with great clarity the doctrine of the Trinity was valid. He and the early church fathers wrote that it was Jesus Christ who appeared to Moses in the burning bush.
Even further back than this, the Doctrine of the Trinity was recognized by the great Jewish rabbis. The Jews of the first century believed that Jesus was God. However, most Jews in later centuries rejected that claim. But in a book called the Zohar written by Rabbi Simon Ben Jochai and his son, the doctrine of the original sin and the incarnation of Christ is expounded.
The Doctrine of the Trinity is also explicitly stated in Genesis 1:1 which says, "In the beginning God (Elohim) created the heavens and the earth." In this passage "Elohim" literally means "Gods." with "im" indicating masculine plural in Hebrew. But this plural noun is treated like a singular noun because it takes a singular verb. That verb is "bara" which means created out of nothing. The plural "Elohim" has always been taken by the great rabbis of the first century to include God the Father; God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. All three persons are one. As a matter of fact the word "Trinity" comes from the Latin word "trinitas" or "trinitus" which means three in one!!!
There are also several scriptural passages that make it clear that Jesus is not subordinate to the Father but co-eternal and co-equal and one with the Father. In John 1:1, it states that, "In the beginning was the word (logos) and the word was with God, and the Word was God." Later on in verse 14, it states that "And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us..." This Word (logos) was Jesus.
In Philippians 2:6, it say of Jesus: " Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God." Further on in verse 7, Paul states that "He made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and made in the likeness of men." God then took on human flesh and was incarnated as Jesus.
In scripture, the disciple Philip asked Jesus in John 14:8, 9 to show him God. Jesus replied to him that, "he that has seen me has seen the Father."
Finally, there is indisputable evidence for the Trinity in 1John 5: 7 which reads:"for there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word (logos) and the Holy Spirit, these three are one." In verse 14, the word (Jesus)
    became one.
Empirical evidence for the Trinity was given to the authoress Dr. Petti Wagner, who in her book "Murdered Heiress" literally describes the Trinity when God spoke to her as a ball of light and said let me show you who we are. He then
split into three separate orbs which formed a triangle. God was the top sphere of light; Jesus was on his right and the Holy spirit was on his left. Al three spheres spoke as one. Each member of the Trinity was identifiable by his
    distinctive voice.
Another book, "Heaven - Third Encounters of a God Kind" by Jesse Duplantis, describes the authors visit to the throne room where he saw God. He could not look Him in the face because no man can look at God and literally live. However, he realized that Jesus came out of God to speak to the people in the throneroom. He noticed that Jesus was the only person that was able to look at God and live. 41, 814

One of my biggest objections to this doctrine, not even mentioned in the bible, is the serious dichotomy that presents itself regarding the nature of Christ while on earth. IF he is the '2nd person of the trintiy' then as such he coulnt have literally 'died for our sins', only a 'human nature' while his 'divine nature would be intact in heavan'! Does that really make any sense sinc, his last prayer at John 17 read "Father, glorify me with the glory I HAD alongside you, before the world was". This shows that the glorious Son of God 'emptied himself' ( Phil 2) and BECAME flesh ( John 1). Yes the whole 'only begotten Son' came dowen to earth lived here for 33 years, died and was raised 3 days later! This is the one and only Christain faith, denied if you believe in the 'trinity'. It negates God's genuine LOVE for us that He gave us his dear Son. This was no trick, no device. It actually happened! and the bibl proves it! John in his old age drew a line between true and false believers, he said "Every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God". ( 1 John 4:3). This mirrors what John said when he spoke of the 'word' in John chapter one, verse `And the Logos BECAME flesh" ( The emphatic Diaglott, MSS V1209 ) literal greek, not the 'put on' but the become something. Hence John tells us simply the heavanly 'Word', God's son BECAME a man. On earth, this WAS God's only begotten Son, who prayed to'TThe Father in Heavan' to help him, e.t.c. These facts alone prove the trinity a false and blasphemous 3rd century teaching that complete;lly negates The Father's great love for us by sending Hids own dear Son ( all of him, not just a miraculous form of a man) down to this unappreciative earth to die for us! How wonderful!

Jesus said go, and make disciples of men, baptizing them in my name. God is not a person in heaven except when pertaining to the Lamb he became. God is Spirit, and there is One Spirit. If the Father is Spirit, according to the Son
And there is another holy spirit. That is not taught in the gospel. Happy Thanksgiving ❤️

What is sad is that 'the early church' Dr Sprout mentions experienced the fulfillment of the prophecies of Paul & Peter in that speculation as to the nature of the Son in relation to the Father caused much conflict and debate. Paul told the 'bishops' at Ephesus "After my going away men will arise & speak twisted things, from amoung YOU yorselves..." ( Acts 20:30). If only they had heeded Paul's Advice! " nothing beyond what is written" ( 1 Cor 4:6 REB) there would have not been an eventual 'trinity' based not on scripture by greek & pagan philosophy! With influence of the pagan roman empire, 'christendom' with its false teachings was born, cheif of which is the 'trinity' 'sunday worship' 'the cross' the immortal soul' 'the host' 'insense & ringing bells''the mitre' 'vestments' 'infant baptism' All pagan!

Wow, I never heard that before, "...the Trinity is the foundation of sand." Isn't sand a kind of dirt. What can we make of the Trinity?

A very simple question that every Christian needs to answer in order to believe in the Trinity, away from talking about the reality of the distortion of the Old and New Testaments and away from the contradictions in Christianity and away from talking about the Qur’an, away from all this. A much simpler question..
A Christian believes in the Old Testament and the New Testament, and believes in Adam, Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, Isaiah, Daniel, Samuel, Zechariah and other prophets of the Old Testament, and believes in Christ and John the Baptist, and the Jew believes in all of them except Christ and believes in the Old Testament, and we Muslims believe in all of them and in Christ and in Muhammad, and we believe in the original Torah and the original Gospel, which do not exist now on the planet, with the consensus of all scholars of the holy books, a scientific fact, even if most pastors deny it in public sermons, but forget about us, and forget about the loss of the original holy books now. Let's only consider the Jewish belief ......
Regardless of the Jews' belief in Christ, my question is, why do Jews and all the believers mentioned in the Old Testament before them not believe in the Trinity, even though the Christian faith is supposed to be an extension of theirs?
    The Qur'an says clearly,
“Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was a Hanif Muslim, and he was not an idolater.”
"Or do you say that Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes were Jews or Christians? Say: Do you know better or God? And who is more unjust than he who conceals a testimony he has from God?"
"Say, 'We believe in God and what was revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and what was given to Moses and Jesus, and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we submit.' "
My question again, why are the Jews and the believers before them according to the Old Testament itself and according to their conditions at the time of Christ, the time of the early Church, the time of Muhammad’s mission, and even today, why do they not believe in the Trinity????
Note: It is clear that I do not need the answer, so do not bother arguing with me, you are the one who needs it for your faith. Think, ask and answer yourself and get rid of the completely empty argument, you will be held accountable alone in the end and no one will be held accountable with you.

'Mystery' has a DIFFERENT meaning in english than in greek! 'MYSTERON' = 'That which is revealed' thus its more like our word 'secret'. That is something that CAN be known and understood! So to call the 'trinity' a 'mystery' is a contradiction of terms. read Eph 1:9 "Having made known to us the MYSTERY ( Mesteron) of His will". Thus if the 'trinity' is essential in Christianty it would have been quite easy to discern it in the NT! Not once is the word or the formula mentioned in the NT!

If you think it makes sense, we must not only believe it ourselves, but also spread it to more people. Evangelism is not only the job of pastors, but also the responsibility of every believer. This is also the aspect that the Lord values most when ascending to the kingdom of heaven.

I was referred here to a clear expression of trinity. I have not found it. In fact I seriously question this speakers grasp on logical comprehension.
How come he is reported as a heavyweight on theology? His opening statement I saw through four years ago with just a strongs bedside concordance and a free interlinear App on my phone.
Indeed Sproul in his opening statement from Heb one, completely misses the meaning of the greek word "aeons" which is translated as "world" (and he adds a little aside claim ,not in the scripture, that this proves Jesus is the agent of creation) and that greek word "aeons" means periods of time as Verse 1 implies the context, that of ages past and now the age of Grace. And Sproul also misses the point that NOW (theres that Aeons again.. NOW is a time word) Jesus is raised high above angels (as god the son he always was before wasnt he trinitarian?... wasnt he? , so whats the big deal ) and is "seated at GODS right hand (do trinnies not believe Jesus is already God?... he would have had an empty seat to return to) and that Jesus is the "express image of God" in that an image is not the thing itself. Adam was also an imager of God, but Adam was disobedient. Was Adam God? NO! An Image is something that reflects or represents, like Joseph represented Pharaoh, but wasnt pharaoh, yet was given all authority and seated on Pharaohs throne. A foreshadow of Gods intention, to raise a dead person who wasnt royal family and seat that person in authority on the throne... do you see the picture, good old joseph and his amazing dream coat.
Sproul is ether dishonest in this or lacking in logical comprehension.

In the gospels you see that God does NOT PERSONALLY TAKE ACTIONS on earth, rather everything seems to be done by the Holy Spirit. This is why trinitarians have identified the Holy Spirit as a DISTINCT divine person, they called that alleged person "the Lord who gives life." The reasons why God would need the services of this phantom Lord are unknown, it is unlikely that the almighty God needs help! Further - according to the trinity doctrine - this Lord is supposed to be ALWAYS in a CLOSE UNION with the Father and the Son. Nothing of that: exactly the opposite happens: never seen nor known, indeed Jesus clearly reiterates that He is only with the Father. Thus, simply this Lord does not exist; he is an INVENTION. But then who really is the Holy Spirit?
God has a dual presence, God in his fullneness has never been known to mankind ("the world has not known you"), no one has ever seen him ("No man has seen God at any time"), ONLY THE SON did it. That is, God in His fullness is ABSENT, He is not here, He is AWAY in a different (temporal) dimension than ours ("before the foundation of the world, (Jn. 17, 24-26)"). However, even though absent, the almighty God is able to hear and respond to us from that distant dimension and to PERFORM ACTIONS HERE. That is to say, God is able to be here in practice, but only VIRTUALLY since in reality NOBODY is there. You can therefore say that God is "in a spirit form" among us, He is the "Spirit of God" AKA "Holy Spirit". This is fully confirmed by Jesus "God is a Spirit." God therefore has a dual presence: the 1. "Spirit of God" is here and who is a kind of "EXTENSION" of 2. the FATHER who is distant from us. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit therefore corresponds to blasphemy against the Father. The Father who is inside Jesus ("...the FATHER who DWELLS IN ME") - suggesting Him what to say - is obviously the same Holy Spirit who guided Him in the desert. Because of the Father's absence the Son can be the King of heaven, in a different case the King would have been the Father (God). Jesus sits next to the POWER of God, not next to God.

Jesus is not ever mentioned as God the son ! It’s always Son of God, and Son of men!
Pretty strange for two co-existing persons to have existed and never had a conversation for over 4000 years in the OT!!
You will never find Jesus talking to the father in the Old Testament! All mention of the Son in the OT is prophetic!
God died in his human existence & not as a second divine person!
God raised his own temple back up in 3 days!
Jesus said the father and I are one , not a group of one!
In the trinity you have 1/3 of deity dead for 3 days! For 3 days God was incomplete?

Jesus Christ = Flesh of God
Holy Ghost = The spirit of God
The Father = the Soul of God
We are made in his image. We have a body which is the Flesh. Your soul which is thought you have the decisions you make the orders you give your body and how it moves. Your Spirit is your emotions where, moral standard. This makes man three in one. They are not the same but they are one. Your body isn’t your spirit. Your spirit isn’t your body. Your spirit isn’t your soul and your soul isn’t your spirit. Your soul isn’t your flesh your body and your body isn’t your soul. We are three in one. The only difference with the three is that we are born with dead spirits.

The Trinity is not one person occupying three different roles. Rather three distinct persons who share the same godhead. Not parts of God.

Why is the Trinity always explained with these long winded esoteric interpretations and never with scripture. There was only one verse that he presented Colossians 2:9 and he butchered it with an obvious misinterpretation. Paul says in the previous chapter Colossians 1:3: "We give thanks to the GOD and father OF OUR Lord Jesus Christ, always praying for you,". Jesus is not subsistent in the Trinity, the Trinity does not exist for Jesus is subordinate to his God and Father. Jesus says in his prayer to his FAther in Luke 10:21 that his Father is the maker of heaven and earth. Jesus also says in prayer to his father in John 17:1-3 that his Father is the only True God and then in John 20:17 Jesus declares - Just as Paul did in Colossians 1:3 - that the Father is Jesus God. Jesus can not worship his Father and also be equal in any way. We are either saying Jesus is a liar and he did not mean his Father is the only True God, maker of Heaven and earth and the one in whom he worships or we take him at his word, that he is not equal to or part of a “Triune God” with his Father. If one is to maintain that Jesus IS part of what makes up God, than we are clearly not dealing with a conflicted entity or an additional lesser God. Christians are monotheistic though.

The (trinity) is not only a vain, perverse, idle, corrupt, filthy word of confusion not found in the holy scriptures, it is a doctrine of devils and damnable heresy.
These 3 names are the names of the Holy One: Jesus the Almighty everlasting Father:
    1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
    Matthew 28:19
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
    Acts 19:5
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
    Isaiah 45:
[21] Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
[22] Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
[23] I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
    Philippians 2:10
    That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
    Ephesians 4:6
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
    John 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
    Job 13:
[8] Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?
[9] Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him?
[10] He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.
    John 14:
[8] Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
[9] Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
    John 4:22
Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
    Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
    1 John 2:23
Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
    John 8:
[24] I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
[25] Then said they unto him,
    Who art thou?
And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning. [26] I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
[27] They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
    John 20:
[28] And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
[29] Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
    Revelation 1:
[7] Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
[8] I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

This lecture is evidence that the Bible does not declare that God is a Trinity. Otherwise, R.C. would have opened up his Bible and showed where Moses, isaiah, Peter, Paul, etc., and most importantly Jesus the Messiah, taught: "God is three persons in one essence".
Further, the doctrine of the Trinity that traditional Christianity has espoused, "three persons in one essence", attempts to eliminate not only the human personhood of Jesus the Christ, but also his human nature (his humanity). Otherwise, the doctrine would be four persons in two essences. There is no room for a human Jesus in traditional Christianity's definitions.
If you believe what RC espoused here, you better be ready for God's designated judge, the resurrected from the dead Jesus the Messiah, to declare to you: "Depart from me, I never knew you".

U must take into consideration that all of your statements were brought up long long ago and this is why godly men assembled; men knowledgeable of the Scriptures, the original languages, theologians, pastors etc and held councils which they scrutinized over the Text and dialogued as brothers and formulated the creeds to help explain to the layperson what was agreed upon as being the main doctrines of the Bible. For instance the Bible doesn’t explicitly use the term “atheist” but it’s most certainly taught. See (Ps14:1;53:1,Col2:8;1Cor3:19-20;2Thess2:10-12). The same goes with the Trinity. Mtt1:23John6:46,57,63,65,7:33;8:14-20;54-59,1Cor8:6;Mtt1:19-24....etc. Jesus says I and the Father are one NOT the Father and I IS one. ....WE will come to him and make OUR abode. They didn’t have a NT to go by they were living it out and thus why it’s seen in their writings. They did have Micah5:2;Zechariah 12:10; Ps2;Ps110:1Judges13;Gen19:24,21:17; Isa53, among many others Isa61;Mal3:1; Rev1:8;21:6;22:13. They also had the Targums. It’s a clear teaching throughout the entirety of the Bible.

Jesus reign as God is not forever, he will give it up after he defeated the last enemy of God, which is death and be subjected to the Father. So, again very clear Jesus is not a true God but appointed God. 1 Corinthians 15:. 24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For he “has put everything under his feet.”[c] Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28 When he has done this, then the Son himself will be MADE SUBJECT to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all. Trinitarians, read the bible!!!
