- Steam Deck Batocera Build - 256gb Running Off USB Drive.With the awesome work of the Batocera team, and having an base IMG of Batocera for the Steam Deck, I put together a 256gb IMG of several systems I like to play, and on a USB flash drive that doesn’t affect or change what you already have going on with your SteamOS. Thanks to all that have made this possible!

Awesome job!! Quick question - would it be possible to put this on a larger card and put on some additional games myself?
absolutely, you would just want to make sure you use software to extend the main partition to take advantage of the extra storage size to put you own games
On Atomiswave, analog sticks don't work, which seems to be required to play faster than speed. didn't find a workaround for this yet. SImilarly on Model 2, trying virtua fighter 2, pressing start does nothing. After mashing all the buttons I did get the fight to start, but then hardly any buttons do anything, so I couldn't punch or kick. I'm sure there are more systems with issues like this as well. Since the Steam Deck is a 100% known piece of hardware (no need to worry about different controllers etc), it would be nice if the systems came properly configured in terms of control on this build! Great content though.

Can you use multiple controllers when using batocera? For example 4 contollers for the simpsons arcade via a usb hub to plug in 4 controllers?
How do you press "2" button for wii games? I have tried every button on the steam deck and nothing happens :) Hard to start some games withouth it, like new super mario bros. EDIT: I'll answer my own question. In the Wii menu, press Select, go to advanced menu, then controls and choose wii remote instead of classic controller.

@@DereksPixeltorium The problem I was having was after I made the usb drive, it would not boot and I did not see it when I pressed vol up and power to select. Appreciate the response!

amazing image, found it through Google and arcade punks. runs great and looks really polished. am i safe to update this to current batocera beta? and is there a way to make the power button suspend instead of power off? thanks for your hard work on this collection

Tried to join the group to get the password (got torrent files downloading off arcade punk) but no one has accepted me
After spending a few days downloading it, almost a full day messing about to unpack it (had to sort my hard drive space out) ordered a 512gb sd card... Installed on to a card the system took a long time, all boots and all I get is 2 games.... What went wrong?
Adding to this I checked my sd card this morning which is 512gb is only showing 5gb and the image only 4gb yet it took ages to write to the card
See other comment and reply about the small size you were seeing on the card… As far as the rest, when you boot up on the steamdeck, do you get the usual menu interface but only two games? It may be directly loading into the favorites, I can’t remember. Look up the suggested Facebook group, and the video description and join… I’m sure we can help you out.
@@DereksPixeltorium it booted up fine the 2 games was scoobie doo, I went into the settings and was able to show all the other systems but they was all empty and could not find any other way to see the games or any other roms. So after 2 failed attempts and it was not a short time either I gave up and formatted the sd card and now put the basic batocera on and adding my own roms with I am going to do bit by bit then the long drag of adding the images
It's probably my fault I am more used to retropie, this is the first time adding an image to steamdeck so it's early days
do not try and install this on an sd card it won't work it creates a partition on your sd card so all you get is about 6gb and the other part of the partition is all your roms that you can't access i have tried to merge them together with computer management and minitool and neither will work
The small partition, you mention, that is the only one that windows will recognize and is the boot partition. The partition where your games are in, cannot be read by windows natively. When you loaded up on your steam deck, you can turn on your Wi-Fi and then connect to the steamdeck batocera over your Netwerk to view/add/remove games.

Can this be run through and external screen?
Can you install roms in the microsd and internal storage at the same time?
this is a side-loaded OS so I don't think the internal/sd card are available or seen from batocera; I haven't tried this myself yet. you can check by hooking up a keyboard and pressing f1 from the main menu and seeing what drives it finds though. if you try that, definitley let us know!

Can i burn img to a 256 sd card or only external hd?
yes, you can use a card, usb stick, or ssd/hd. you may need to get the next size up unless you look for the same Samsung Fit usb I used as they tend to have JUST a little extra space

@@alvinbalatbat I have not, but as long as it's the same size or larger it should work -with extra apsace for more :)

Password doesn't work
hmm, I just tried it and it still seems to work... sometimes when accessing links through chrome it asks for a decryption key that's not the pw... try the link in a different browser
