Follow me as I show you my layering technique used to make half scale windows and doors. This technique can be used in any scale as long as your materials are an appropriate thickness for that scale.
I am going to give these a go even though I don't have a Cricut. I have some thin Mat board (mount board...I dunno what the Antipodean is for that lol!...it's the stuff Ara Bentley uses a lot and in the UK is generally picture mounting board) yeah I think it's a suitable thickness for this and I can cut some cardstock for the details. Great idea with the little split pin brad thingies...you have some genius ideas...really!)
Awesome! I can’t wait to see how they turn out for you! Mat board is called art board over here (at least that is what I believe the equivalent is over here in Australia) and yes it would work perfectly for your frames - no layering required! You can definitely still hand cut the pieces. Will you work in 1:12 or 1:24? There are lots of variations you can use for the handles too, depending on the scale you’re working in. I’m excited to see what you do! 😄
Mat board, mount board, and art board are pretty much the same thing, if I remember right. If it has a thickness of 1.5mm or 1/8" (0.059"), it should work. I have a bunch of random pieces from when my husband was doing a lot of matting and framing work, and have so many plans... once the studio is put back together. Or maybe I'll be really odd and use some of it to do some of the organization as well.
