    I scratch built the infamous door of Spider-Man's apartment using basswood, trash plastic, matboard, a paperclip, and a couple beads. This door will be part of the completed Spider-Man apartment diorama I'll release in a separate video.
    I have lots of projects planned like abandoned miniatures, Dollar Store furniture makeovers, room boxes, dioramas and Dollhouse Miniature decor, furniture and accessories in multiple scales. I also have a large Harry Potter build planned for 1" scale.

    What an insanely good channel, especially for miniaturists who don't, can't or won't just order what they want online. In some ways it's certainly nice to, but the thrill of making it yourself is lost. Thank you so much for all your hard work in making, filming, editing, uploading and all that ❤

      Thank you very much! I really enjoy making things from scratch from accessible materials. It's a lot of fun seeing something come from nothing.
      Filming, editing and adding voiceover (which most of my videos have, just not this one and a couple others) takes SO much time and work. Thank you for appreciating it.

    That rust stuff looks neat and is such a wildly specific product. But fyi for anyone that can't afford the bottle of rust, it looks similar on camera at least, to using brown alcohol inks. Similarly, teal alcohol inks make a good faux patina.

      @@queencityminis the star Wars figures I used to get were just under 4 inches tall, but now they have six inch tall action figures. Posable too. I just adore how the miniature dollhouse community, the model railroad community, and the people making dioramas for their action figures all overlap. Aging wood, making stones, bricks, fire pits, resin water, all in common. And terrain, foliage, trees. Oh and the role playing games like the dungeon and dragon stuff. They're in there too. There's a lot of cool Alien and Predator dioramas for that spaceship vibe or jungle look. They use fish tank grates to make the floors of spaceships with lights underneath. It's perfect.

    I was so thrilled to see this video - I'm custom building a dollhouse from some architectural plans I found on the net, so everything has been from scratch, and I really didn't want to pay $15 per door or window (and since it's somewhat of an observation tower/house, we're talking ~35 windows and 6 doora). Seeing how you made this door has saved me soooo much money!! And I have the deepest respect for popsicle sticks now - and those 1000 packs at Michael's are looking like a serious bargain!

    • @DawnDavidson
      @DawnDavidson 7 місяців тому

      @@queencityminisagreed! It also depends on whether they are individual landlords, or big faceless corporations. Your mom and pop types are usually just trying to get by themselves. Big corporations can be evil because there is no individual accountability, often, and no empathy for the individual renters. I was forced to rent rooms in my house before I was later forced to sell it, so I’ve been on both sides of the rental equation. I have great empathy and appreciation for my landlord in our current rented condo, and all that he has to do dealing with the HOA. Being the landlord trying to keep paying my mortgage with not enough income was extremely stressful.

    I'm not sure if you've answered it else where but when you were cutting the wood pieces, what is the tool that you were using?
    On another note, you are incredibly talented :)

      Thank you! They're called miter shears. They're very useful. I wish I had gotten a pair with replaceable blades instead.

      Thank you! I do voiceover for most of my videos, but I really enjoyed skipping it for this one. It's more just for entertainment than a tutorial, although you can still learn by watching it. Doing the voiceover takes the most time of the editing process.
