    Switch to V90 SD. Ok, guys, I'm posting that comment under every video related to Sony A7IV overheating issue, because it solved the problem for me and I'd be happy if it helps you. I've browsed through dozens of videos on that subject and most of them didn't mention that particular thing.
    Yes, auto power off temp works. Opening the screen and battery door works too. Eventually it allowed me to record 35 min instead of 15 min in 4K 100M 4:2:2. Better, but not perfect. External recorder, switched off linking, camera grip, etc. probably does its job as well.
    But V90 SD card instead of V30 allowed me to record a 2-hour take easily. The battery exhausted earlier.
    Maybe that's dumb, but having been an A7III user, I never thought the card would be such a gamechanger. In fact, yes. Slow cards just don't have enough capacity, being overheated while trying to process the recording, they overheat the camera internally even though it stays cool on the surface.
    Don't bother with CFExpress, just a regular V90 128G card would do the thing. At least it worked like a charm for me. Thanks for the video! 🙌

      I want to get this camera too but the overheating issue worries me. I only shoot for a few seconds per take also, ill never leaving it filming for more than 5 minutes. My biggest worry is that i am expanding my services to the Middle east where its absolutely boiling hot. Will this be a big issue?
      Its either the A7IV or FX30...

    I just bought an A7 IV this week and it overheated within 20 minutes as I was customizing the settings. The heat limit setting you discuss is one of a few solutions. In addition, also try disabling all the bluetooth, wireless and internet settings. The other thing to try is to operate the camera with the monitor flipped away from the body. The monitor creates heat that radiates back into the body. Since applying those solutions, no overheating....so far. Thanks for the vids!

    The 50mm f/1.2 and 70-200 f/2.8 MkII G-Master shots look stunning. 🙌

      Thanks for the kind comment! The 50mm shots were only at around f2 as well! Didn't push it to F1.2 😉

    I did guess it would more than likely be that setting haha I've done that before, but luckily my A7IV has been solid so far too, great video though!

    I do sports videography. Lots of summer heat. I am nervous about purchasing the Sony A7 iv even though the quality is what I’m looking for.
    With the overheating, is it easier to just ditch some quality and go for the a7iii?

    • @YourStoryStudios
      @YourStoryStudios  Рік тому +1

      If you focus on video I'd suggest either the FX6, a7SIII or the FX3 (which I don't own). None of those cameras will overheat and deliver great quality. If budget is a limiting factor, you could look at the FX30 which is has an APS-C sensor, but has a fan and won't overheat. I haven't used it, but there are plenty of videos on UA-cam that could help you with your decision 😉👍

    mine overheated when i was going through the menus the first time i turned it on. After switching the overheat thingy off, ive filmed multiple hour long or longer presentations/speeches/interviews without it turning off.

    • @YourStoryStudios
      @YourStoryStudios  2 роки тому +1

      Good to know it hasn’t overheated since changing the over heat setting. It’s crazy that the camera would overheat just going through the menus!

      @@YourStoryStudios i have had a couple issues. While filming longer speeches, the microphone has stopped connecting to the camera multiple times. I will often notice the audio meters just not going working anymore and i unplug then plug it back in.
      i have also had the camera freeze multiple times, ill turn the camera off and it just stays on and frozen. i have to pop the battery out and put it back in.
      not sure if these issues happen to anyone else.

    I don’t want to have to walk on egg shells around a camera that’s almost 3k. As a hybrid shooter for weddings and products can anybody speak on if an a7riii and an fx30 for video would be a better combo than just an a7iv ?

    • @YourStoryStudios
      @YourStoryStudios  Рік тому +1

      I shot a wedding the other week with a FX6 (I operated it), a a7s3 which was a locked off shot and an a7RV with a second shooter. The a7iv was on site, but I didn't use it because it was quite a hot day and I didn't want to risk overheating.
      Basically if you don't want to worry about overheating, I would get a different camera.

    I live in India and shoot video outdoors. The a7iv is definately NOT reliable for outdoor shoots in sunlight.

      Gets hot ? Do you think a combo of a dedicated stills camera (a7iii) and dedicated video (fx30) would be better ?

      @Gospel_of_John_3.16 Рік тому +1

      @@Moresco24 Yes, my Sony a7iv overheated and shutdown during a wedding in which I was shooting video between 9am and 1pm. It was in early December and not that hot of a day so I suspect it wont work when the real summer heat comes.
      This is my first full frame camera and I wanted this to be an all-rounder and enough for doing both photo and video work till I earn my money back, but seems that the wild overheating is a limitation that I was not expecting.
      Im considering to wait and see the reviews of the Lumix S5iix to see if it is a better fit for the hot climate where i will have to work and switch over to Panasonic S and then sell the a7iv.

    Can u imagine driving in the fast lane in southern California with a BMW, it overheats, sputters coolant & steam all over & of course stops dead in its tracks, only to have the factory to reply--if u made it out alive--you should have kept the windows open, would have kept u cooler before all of those tailing cars smashed into yours. lol 😎😎

    Amazing that your a7iv overheated, must have been the only one in the world, besides sixty million others. Now, if u had some good shots and videos keeping up speed with Roos-Kangaroos-you never would have had such a problem. Those hip-hopping jumping icons of Australia can hit 71km/h or 44 miles per hour. Talk about natural cooling fans-just whirling bodies alone would do it. I'm amazed u didn't consider your best allies for solving the a7iv famous heating problems. 😎😎

    No, you can‘t prevent this piece of **** to overheat whatever you set. During a wedding ceremony it switched of for me. Using this camera in warmer conditions is like Russian roulette.
