Cool!! Thanks for sharing! 👍❤
It was a great test and your battery Moman 99 was super helpful for solving the problem
One more question mate, so I don't know much about voltage/amperes etc but I read that I need an AC wall power brick to USBC adapter (like a phone charger), that has 9v/3a to power my Sony A7 IV forever... I found this product online but I am really not sure if it's a good one or not, or if it can damage the camera or not. Could you please give me your professional opinion whether this is good for endless recording >>> Anker Nano II 65W, USB-C, PowerIQ 3.0, GaN II.
Thanks for the video! Did you flip out the screen in the first tests?
Yes the screen was flipped out in all the test. It should be better overheating wise
@@ShadesOfTech Thanks for the quick response!
How hot did the camera get during the tests in standard mode compared to the high heat mode?
Does the Moman battery deliver 9A 3V power and charge the camera battery while powering theough usb-c?
Yes it charges the camera through usbc. Not sure about 9a 3V tho, you can check their website
May I know what settings were applied when you were recording? Auto mode or manual mode? Any picture profile applied?
Manual mode and pp8 which is log
Hey there. I got a question. Is it possible for a dummy batter that you connect via Dtap to the powerbank - moma / fxlion etc to fry your camera? I'm in two minds between dummy batter + dtap AND powerbank + USB C. Which one would you recommend?
I did not have any problems with both the solutions. But I heard reports that dummy battery could at some point fry the camera. So my solution of choice is just usbc power delivery with Moman battery. In this way when I want to remove vmount battery I already have the Sony battery inside And just unplug the usbc cable. Sony battery is charged only when camera is off so battery health si preserved. I used this solution for many months without problems. I added also added a vmount battery plate with on/off switch so that I can exclude the Moman if I want. Hope this helps you!
@@ShadesOfTech Yes, it does help, thanks. And one last questions - not sure if you've ever tried it before or not but - how many hours can you maybe get from a moman99 on a sony a7 IV from recording in one day? aproximately
I don’t have this number but it depends if you power up a field monitor as well from the Moman or not. Definitely I always filled up the memory card before finishing power.
Interesting to see that after watching an extreme propaganda of the a7IV among youtubers, now there are tons videos about how to try to fix overheating. This issue shouldn't be consider lightly or even funny as some youtubers refer it: "Great camera. it just overheats a bit, no big deal, blah blah". No user/client should be wondering how to fix this problem, and consider this issue as a "thing" that you need to accept in order to get the overall tech.
Yeah in fact I wanted to test it for myself and share the truth about it.
It’s a great camera but you just need to disable thermal settings. Not sure why Sony turned on by default in the first place. The camera gets warm but not hot
@@ShadesOfTech Great to see that tou are keeping it real! Cheers!
Switch to V90 SD. Ok, guys, I'm posting that comment under every video related to Sony A7IV overheating issue, because it solved the problem for me and I'd be happy if it helps you. I've browsed through dozens of videos on that subject and most of them didn't mention that particular thing.
Yes, auto power off temp works. Opening the screen and battery door works too. Eventually it allowed me to record 35 min instead of 15 min in 4K 100M 4:2:2. Better, but not perfect. External recorder, switched off linking, battery grip, etc. probably does its job as well.
But V90 SD card instead of V30 allowed me to record a 2-hour take easily. The battery exhausted earlier.
Maybe that's dumb, but having been an A7III user, I never thought the card would be such a gamechanger. In fact, yes. Slow cards just don't have enough capacity, being overheated while trying to process the recording, they overheat the camera internally even though it stays cool on the surface.
Don't bother with CFExpress, just a regular V90 128G card would do the thing. At least it worked like a charm for me. Thanks for the video! 🙌
Well I guess that you are lucky since we have 4 units at my workplace and they all overheat quite quickly with V90 SD Card... Very disappointing.
@@Sushi_Overdose I suppose, it's not a silver bullet. Just an option that worked for me. Do your cameras hold the same time with V30?
@@Evengard Well, since we need to shoot in XAVC SI, we cannot use this kind of card.
We've just noticed that the overheat is less problematic if you don't use the HDMI output, but that's also a bummer.
Try using power delivery via usbc.
When the camera is on it won’t charge de battery but just power hit.
Also set heat limit to high
@@ShadesOfTech Heat limit was already set to high after the first issues on set.
I will look for another way to give power to the unit but that's still very annoying.
How can I record a continuous 10 hour wedding in 4k? Without overheating
Power brick in the wall. But how do you change sd card if you want to be continuous? You need 2tb card
Probably with a Ninja V
Yes, friends, Sony has ripped this camera a lot, unfortunately, I was able to buy this camera after years of work, but with this hot problem, I recommend that you never buy this camera, Canon and Nikon are the best, they say update or card. Change the memory, it's all bad, didn't Sony test them during production? It's nonsense...
So many people have burned their money buying this model. Sorry friend. Hopefully you can resell it & get a better model.
plz fix you awful audio !!
What’s the problem with the audio?
@@ShadesOfTech It's very low quality. Need sound treatment in your room or put your mic closer to your mouth
