- Sensational Alex Harvey Band - St. Anthony live at the Marquee Club, London, January 18th 1973. The Sensational Alex Harvey Band were a Scottish rock band formed in Glasgow in 1972. Fronted by Alex Harvey accompanied by Zal Cleminson on guitar, bassist Chris Glen, keyboard player Hugh McKenna and drummer Ted McKenna, their music was a blend of glam rock, blues rock and hard rock, with cabaret elements. Their stage performances incorporated theatrical elements. The band were popular in continental Europe, and influential in Australia, most notably on AC/DC (particularly their singer Bon Scott) and on the young Nick Cave and his first band The Boys Next Door.

@@SpireUtd Thanks, I am glad you have found and enjoyed this channel🙂
What a shame. I discovered this group for myself only in 2023.
Got a lot of catching up to do then, don't forget Alex 60's recordings ..
One of the best front men ever . Sheer angelic manace . A million times better than the wall to wall beige music of today.
"Angelic Menace" - you've summed the guy up perfectly there, thanks.
Love SAHB, love Alex, there'll never be another.
I was wearing my ‘Last of the Teenage Idols’ T shirt today with pride ☺️
BRAVOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Sensational band... Zal without painting, Alex giving everything, as always.
Zal is an absolute monster player.
Absolutely. Any list of 'Great British Guitarists' that doesn't include his name is WRONG.
I wish I'd been around to see this band live.
I did see them live - they were the best. I wish I'd seen the Cramps.
watch the masters and learn utter brilliance
Absolutely! But they will Never be another Alex! 😢
Love This BAND!!!
Saw the last twenty minutes of a SAHB set at Birmingham Town Hall circa 1972. A whole bus load of us actually went there to see our local band Mott the Hoople, who were actually the main billing. I had not heard of SAHB at that point, and indeed did not really rediscover them until about 1976. Truth be told, the short bit I saw was really rather more impressive than Mott. We were accompanied on that trip by Mick Ralph's dad, who was a local postmaster, and it was quite funny to see Mick climb on the bus after the gig to exchange laundry bags with his father.
what a jam.
Thank you for introducing this band to me. I’m a first time listener even though I’m in my 60’s.
Same for me! I am 60, and I can't believe I am just learning about this band. Fantastic!
@@brucebakken5687 Same here (63!!!)!!
I saw SAHB support Slade in the Edinburgh Empire in 73. I was 15 went in a Slade fan came out a SAHB fan. Saw them many times. Shook Alex's hand.
You’re so lucky! I heard the shows were insanely good and from the videos I’ve been able to find it looks like they were not only tight playing live but totally entertaining.
Fantastic...
Браво - браво!
Уникальные кадры...
Алекс - отжигает!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Я рад, что вам понравилось это видео. Спасибо за комментарий.
Brilliant, only saw them once when they supported The Who at Parkhead in 1970 something. Watching this makes we wonder what kind of collaboration he’d have had with Ian Dury as there’s quite a bit of similarity in the originality of the lyrics and the very personal and often quite strange subject matter.
There's a pic of them together
Yeah! Never made that connection but I see the Similarities. Alex used Saxaphone on his New Band ' The Mafia Stole My Guitar' Album. The Whalers!
Fantastic! Mmmm... so good. :)
Incredible, delicious perfection! I love seeing Zal without makeup - he’s still so gorgeous after all these years ! 💜🙏😻
SENSATIONAL, SENSATIONAL, SENSATIONAL
Seen these in the 70s at Buxton "pop" festival the only band that bought us to are feet 😁
The energy…. Wow
Peak SAHB must have been a great live experience.
It so was!!

My Favorite Song
Never thought I'd see a video of Alex on guitar 😮.
I cannot believe that I have not known about this band. I found your videos just about a week ago, and I have been learning about the SAHB! Thank you!
So many brilliant Albums to collect, possibly some hard to find now, but we'll worth the digging.
Their musical blend is attractive! Know them by name but have never heard much from them, so a great start! Thx!
I added links to a few more recordings by them at the very end of this video
& a great journey you will go on. ALEX & SAHB were truly one of a kind. Their albums brilliant.

You are most welcome
Thanks for sharing all these great videos. Much appreciated. Cheers ✌️
Hell Alex and his band were something else….nothing like this since…
Did someone say ROCK & ROLL !
Thanks for digging up the old stuff! SAHB were SO good and underrated. Would have loved to have had the chance to see them, but sadly they never caught on in America. If I had a chance to see 5 bands in their prime, Alex would be one of them...
Thanks for watching and commenting, I am glad you find some of these old videos interesting
they were big in Cleveland
@@user-jm8ni8ji6m Cleveland rocks!
Drumming
Zal didnt get shown much 😢
SABH were worse than punk rock , that is saying something.
off to bed its getting late son
Sure ya can't even spell the bands name right, that's saying something.
Punk before Punk ? Na Alex & His SAHB were one of a kind . Totally original. Had to be seen to be believed, His stage presence was electric! However every one of His & Their albums are worth having.
