    Beautiful vintage aesthetic. And I love that they didn’t force a date window onto the dial. Really wish that they also offered it on an oyster or jubilee bracelet.

    Absolutely stunning. I can never get hooked to most dive watches (big, bulky and flashy). This one, however, immediately left me in awe. Such a classical-looking time piece. If it had a date complication it would have made the perfect everyday watch.

    Hello Ivan. Thanks for the great review of MY Aquascaphe exactly as you presented here.
    I ordered fairly early and received mine a few weeks ago. So happy I took the plunge on this beauty. Looks so much better when handled than a video can show. I'm enjoying mine immensely and will source a few high-quality rubber dive straps for a more slightly casual look. Has become quite a conversation piece, receiving many compliments.

    Here at BALTIC, we want to be transparent about our production, and avoid contributing to the ambiguity that has been the bane of the horology industry for over 20 years. We manufacture all of our watch components in three different regions:
    The case housing parts and movements come from specialty manufacturers in Hong Kong.
    The straps are all sourced and manufactured in France.
    Our other accessories are made in Italy.
    Once the various components are manufactured, we send them to our atelier in Besançon, France to be assembled and adjusted. We are proud to partner with some of the best manufacturers in horology and to provide the best quality on the market at this price range.

    Great review as always, and a great looking watch. I picked up a Lorier Neptune Gilt Dial a couple of weeks ago which has a very similar aesthetic to this one. I reckon the Lorier may be the slightly better value proposition as it is half the price of the Baltic, but it would be a very interesting shootout between the two. The Baltic obviously has the better movement and crystal, but the Lorier seems to have a better bracelet and maybe even better finishing. Interestingly both Lorier and Baltic are sold out of these models, so this vintage size and aesthetic is clearly very desirable.

    • @PerthWAtch

      Thanks Jarrod... yeah you're right about that Lorier. It's also a wee bit thicker so a little less "refined" there I guess. I would love to compare these two on a head to head!

    Beautiful watch. Glad they went with no date and the no date version of the movement, so no ghost position. Glad also that they chose the Miyota 9000 series, which is comparable to 2824, and not the inferior 8000 that they used on their dress watch.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  4 роки тому

      Thanks for that... yeah I think no date was clearly the way to go here, and the 9000 series is a good choice, although many would still consider an ETA to be a step (or half step) ahead it would seem.

      @@PerthWAtch The 9000 series unfortunately carries some stigma from its budgety younger brother, but in tests it's entirely equivalent to the 2824. Miyota/Citizen knows a lot about building movements, but need to do some marketing on their newer movements.

    Great review. Seems like a nice watch. Reminds me a little of the EMG/HKED Nemo.
    I was looking at some vintage dive watches and a lot of them had clasps worse than this. It seems it was common to have several micro-adjust holes on a pressed clasp, and the swing arm was pressed as well. Gen very expensive watches did it this way (Rolex and Omega)

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 років тому +2

      Thanks for that, yeah it does have similarities to the Nemo. You're right, many older Divers had crappy clasps like that... it's just that Baltic obviously chose to feature modern updates (eg. The Dome sapphire) so I figure they should've done better with that part.

    Hi Ivan. thanks for a great review. Honestly, I love this watch!. very well made and has a lot of nice vintage characteristics of few different famous watches. Specially, I really like the bracelet. Obviously it is a direct copy of 1960s Omega Seamaster rice bead bracelet. Baltic even copied the clasp design with 7 holes. (I just sold 1963 Omega Seamaster with this rice bead bracelet from my vintage collect about a month ago, and got 5 times more money than what I had paid for 20 years ago...nice investment!) Anyway, you said that this is not available anymore, but I would love to buy one of these watches. It certainly look great. I'd better look around where I can get one.
    thanks Ivan for another super good review and have a wonderful day/night!

    I get close to ordering this watch because I love the vintage looks but cannot get past Baltic's poor choice in movement. With the 9039 Citizen/Miyota basicly took the 8215 and made it high beat and hackable but missed on the the most important needed improvement and that is the unidirectional winding rotor mechanism. These things sound noisy and cheep when winding the wrong way. Even the Seiko NH35 has bidirectional winding. The Miyota 9039 is basicly the same 8215 that was installed in the first version of the cheep Invicta pro divers before Invicta switch to Seiko.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  2 роки тому

      I agree that they really should’ve gone with Sellita or other Swiss movement. However the 9015 Miyotas are not simply a modification of the 8215. And yes, the rotors are noisy when free spinning the non-winding direction (same as in Swiss Valjoux 7750 chronograph movements).

    • @24hourgmtchannel64
      @24hourgmtchannel64 2 роки тому

      @@PerthWAtch yes the 7750 also winds only in one direction also. Good point. I'd say one plus with the 9039 is with it not having the ghost date position as the eta/ Sellita sw200 would have. Lume problem/question: I just received my aquascaphe. The lume on the dial is extremely weak, in marked contrast to the hands and bezel, which are normal and good brightness. Is there any issue with yours? The lume shots you have in your review are great, as is the photo in the Worn & Wound review. I emailed Baltic, and they absurdly and somewhat curtly said that it wasn't a defect, and that you need black light to have the dial lume be bright, and they claimed that W&W used blacklight. Did you do anything atypical for your lume shot? Thanks in advance! I'm going to have to decide how much to fight this. (BTW, I absolutely love everything else about the watch and beads of rice bracelet!)

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  4 роки тому

      The lume on the bezel is not fantastic, but that's actually quite normal for bezel lume, it almost is never as good as the hands and dial (a result of less lume application). I don't do anything special with my lume shots, I just use a very bright LED torch to charge it up before taking the photos. The charging bit is more to do with the total output of your light source rather than just the wavelengths... black light is cool to use and all, but if it's a weak torch it ain't gonna be as good as strong normal light.

    17cm wrist? Are you sure? :D That 47mm lug to lug looks kinda big on that. I have 16,5cm wrist. Not sure if going to buy that piece anymore :(

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 років тому

      Yes mine is 17cm, although could be a mm or two either way. I think 47mm fits absolutely fine, don’t let the potential camera angle distortion discourage you... I reckon best to grab a similar sized watch to try on yourself.

      @@PerthWAtch First of all, thank you for replying this so quickly. Great review of that watch also. I was just worried because my 16,5cm (or 6,5") wrist has been excellent for sk007/009 divers, for lug-to-lug just around 46mm or so. But after I've watched that part of that video several times and become more aware of the presence of the watch on the wrist, I'm sure I'm intrested in that. And if if i manage to get it in a new release soon, I would always get my money back somewhere if it does not fit :) Thanks!
