First class home repair. I took one look and thought "no way"; you showed us the way. Those instant staples were a piece of conceptual genius. They allowed you to Makita win...
About 1 in 5000 can do this. This repair and restoration is not easy. This Gentleman is a true Craftsman. Very smart and experienced. You Sir are a Artisan. Awesome Job.
The engineering in a good quality power tool is brilliant, videos like this without any distractions show the restoration in all its detail. Excellent work. 👍
Love seeing these wonderful old things lovingly restored and brought back to life. The attention to detail and trying to keep it authentic is what appeals to me the most.
Very excellent restoration. Mark my words the US is gonna be crippled if we ever go to war with China, and we will need as many people like you to make this country survive in the long run. We need to change from a consumer culture to a repair/maintanence culture.
Well you are out of this world. I had a Makita with a " terrible" squeezable chuck. To replace the darn thing I had to open the machine and never realized I needed to record everything I did. So i ended up with lots of parts with no idea where they had to go. It was nice seeing you did the same and obliviously no what you were doing, and yes there were lots of parts. Anyway the rebuild was a disaster as you can image. So think before starting and yes this is not an easy thing to do at home. Thanks for sharing.
Dude that was amazing, you refused 99% of the tool, it looks amazing, and using the carbon fiber after pinning the plastic to keep structural integrity.... i watch tons of these videos and i have to say this is one of the best I've seen. Very little replaced, low cost, decent yield (makitas arent cheap). No editing cheats or faked repairs... just a really nice job and a great looking finish. 10/10 nice! im subscribing :p
Yes want to learn n do this one day an be thought by u or someone like you that does everything right an can goto sleep each night knowing u did it right that reputation goes along way thk u for that keep it up always love ur videos put more up want to see them thxs great job
You been spyin on me Bro? Sure looks like my hands. It would be nice to have a lathe and a mill again. Making a something from a nothing, this is what I loved to do. It didn't matter what type or how old a machine it was, whatever is needed, to fix whatever it is that is broken, you got a shop and the skills to fabricate it. You broke what? We got you. A famous person ( I forget who) said "in order to become comfortable in chaos it is necessary to embrace calamity." I think that means you should treat each calamity as a learning experience and an opportunity to bring order to chaos by providing a solution to a problem.
Nice repair. Considering the switch cost slightly more than half the price of a new tool, not knowing the internal condition of the sealed bearings (obviously abused), it was a commendable effort. I hope you get years of use from it.
040823/1317h 🇺🇸 There’s always a negative flash of comments, from highly motivated negative people; instead of applauding the painstakingly endeavored task; the repair person undertook. I salute the the engineer who undertook the M&R of the Mikita Drill and a standing ovation for him. I appreciate your confidence, your extreme patience and meticulous refitting of myriads of intricate parts, back to working condition. Thank you, Sir.
I struggled with that, too. I think the original cap was chowdered when it was initially disassembled, and the replacement cap was loosely fitted for some of the filming, then the chuck was disassembled again. There are a lot of shots that were set up and filmed, its not surprising if a segment was filmed out of sequence, or needed to be re-filmed

The engineering in a good quality power tool is brilliant, videos like this without any distractions show the restoration in all its detail. Excellent work. 👍
I absolutely love these videos 😊
Gives us ordinary folks confidence to repair & reuse.
Hats off to you sir

Thank you for showing people how a proper restoration is done. Excellent video.
holy! you actually repair the clamshell, I thought you will order new parts, impressed!
If there's ever a zombie apocalypse, I either need to be like this guy or become his best friend. Great job! 👍
He will restore all the zombies back to human beings. 😂
Looks legit. I was skeptical, but it appears to be a proper job. Well done.
he filmed everything 😅
This one was a true delight to watch, very nicely done!
Awesome restoration. A drill worth saving. All my drills and several other tools are Makita.
Very excellent restoration. Mark my words the US is gonna be crippled if we ever go to war with China, and we will need as many people like you to make this country survive in the long run.

@@chucknorris2952 this doesn't invalidate anything I said...
I especially liked how he frankensteined the handle back together. All that was left was repaint the MAKITA name on the drill.

Top!😅
A real restoration video, and very well done! Great work.
Very clever, and patient. I’d def’ forget how all that goes back together,..

Great job that bringing dead makita back to working condition 👍
Definitely amazing transformation.kudos 👍👍👍😎😎😎
That took a lot of work but now you have a great drill
Absolutely fantastic restoration!!
Wow amazing repair man..loved how you even repaired the plastic..👏👍
Wow. Fantastic work brother. Glad to see dying things are brought back to life
Very well restored!

I was very sceptic in the beginning, but you made it great, still in surprise 😮🎉🎉🎉

Great restore job 👍 but that is what happens when you use a drill as a Hammer
Love the video, I appreciate the time and effort u put in these videos❤
Awesome work.Would really like to have known what all the cleaners solvents types of grease etc that you used..
I didn't know a drill is that complex, it's just wow
This is the perfect work in detail 👍🏻👌
So. Many. Parts. LOL. Great video.
Engineering the tool is impressive even so is reviving waste!

It’s not so expensive if you consider to replace with replica from Ali

Why did the plastic plate on the back of the chuck look fine coming out of the rust bath but suddenly look ruined in the next shot?
