I respect your determination, but the Chruch leadership administers the sacraments. They can change what ever they want and the laity has no where else to turn. I hope you understand the crisis that the current Catholic hierarchy is creating. Even if you have a brave priest serving a parish in an orthodox manner, he can simply be replaced or removed at the bidding of an archbishop. The fact that this conflict is not resolvable unless the laity stands up and says "No More!" is what caused me to openly leave the Church. It was one of the saddest days of my life.

I dare say most of the your leadership doesn't believe that there is only salvation through the Church. Why else would they allow people from other denominations to share in Communion? My sticking point is that PBXVI still lives and PF doesn't seem to have the negative protection all the other popes have had with regards to teaching on faith and morals. I agree, Joni Lea, but I don't think that remaining silent is akin to being lukewarm. Even when we aren't voicing our opinions, we can continue to pray, fast and do penance for the offenses in the Church and in our world. The Lord himself said that there are certain demons "that can only be driven out through prayer and fasting." (Mark 9:29). I advocate strongly for action but we must always keep in mind that prayer is far from inaction and as someone who loves "doing" and "saying" things, this is a reality I struggle to embrace everyday. Of all the historical Popes that I've come to look up to and that is Pope Saint Pius X and why him? Because he wrote a Papal encyclical and it was called an oath against modernism. And last month when I was at my Knights of Columbus council meeting, I gave out a speech about his Papal encyclical and the Grand Knight was impressed but didn't have much to say. However one of the Knights was also impressed with my speech and he applauded me. The reason why did the speech about an oath against modernism because we live in a crazy modern world and too much modernism can be heretical and dangerous. As for the current Holy Father, Pope Francis. I don't have anything against him at all because I pray for him daily during my Holy Rosary. And I even pray for his soul.

I don't think Father intended to give this particular tone but the tone of this sermon is it really doesn't matter what the Pope says or does just stay in the Church and you'll be alright. While that is true the point of people getting upset with Francis and some of his predecessors is that the pope does not have the right to behave this way. Additionally some of our anger is in defense of the Church and in defense of Jesus it's a righteous anger for some not for all. Dear Annie, I was born in 1960 too. Have asked all these same questions and more probably. You will have many answers depending on who you speak to. I don't know the answers but I pray the Rosary alot and have been given a peace on these things. We are in the dark, very confusing End Times. I stay with the Rosary, the Traditional Latin Mass, no New Order Mass and the Catechisms of the Council of Trent, available in PDF on line. Follow the ways of the Church before Vatican 2 seems the safest to me. No Communion in the hand !!! There are FSSP Priests and Christ the King Priests that are still under the Pope. Talk with them.
