Mr. Spooky made me *extremely* uncomfortable.
It's so fucking cool. He's so different and actually is the first thing in destiny that feels really really alien and otherworldly... Or dimensionally.... And yet still looks very human
I think a lot of the old D1 Vex architecture scratched the 'truly alien' itch for me, like the Citadel on Venus. It felt chaotic, unplanned, like its purpose is inscrutable and it has no identifiable aesthetic guidance behind it.
It's also interesting to see how much the Pyramid aesthetic has changed since we first got an up close look in Shadowkeep. there's a lot more detail to everything, more color, more chaos in general. Everything is less smooth, and there's more 'art' or 'artlike' things sitting around.

One of the best cutscenes in destiny history, and I love it.
this cutscene just proves how menacing of an opposing force the winnower/witness is, they are, without a doubt, going to be an insane obstacle in light fall, but knowing in true guardian fashion, the guardian always prevails. it also shows how confident they are, with their grand plan, of killing the heart of the traveler.
And beside the Witness are the Disciples, ready to bring about the end and the Final Shape...
@@bliss5297 The Guardian has shown that even against Rhulk, the Subjugator of the Worm Gods' mother, the creator of the Hive, the destroyer of Lubrae, a Disciple to the Witness, he fell before us.
@@alexanderchon9058 Rhulk is just one disciple of the witness. and it was only his pyramid we infiltrated. The witness commands every other pyramid in the entire fleet through the darkness. the witness most likely has full control over the darkness. so the witness is literally on a whole other level, compared to a single disciple.
and even Rhulk is powerful. he stole a rib from the leviathan on fundament, thus, "freeing" the worm gods.

They kept referring to themselves as "we" just like the Witness.
AND that same damn hand gesture like the "Trade offer: I receive, you receive" meme.

But typically the witness and his followers are following the same purpose united in that goal almost like a dark hive mind all connected to the witness itself.

I can't remember where but Mara has a line saying the being we met in the Black Garden was "just one of [the Entity's] many voices." Later in Vow of the Disciple's raid gear Savathun refers to the Witness as having "many selves."
The "doppelganger" was an extension of the Witness but yeah, basically we met the Witness in Shadowkeep.

@@WayneRoberts72 I'm a little disappointed that it has such a human face, at least the upper half. Maybe we'll see lore explanations for why it looks like Billy Corgan rather than a less anthropomorphic species, maybe this is just how humans perceive it and each species sees it in its own image. We've seen it mirror our appearance before, for example. In general it would be nice to get more species that aren't bipedal humanoids. That's part of why I like the Vex, they've got oddballs like the Harpies and Hydras to lend some variety.

The Witness seems to be the Entity/Voice/Winnower. It was once a mortal and it’s species was blessed with the Light by the Traveler (1 of them, as we learn there’re multiple Travelers). It turned from the Traveler and is looking for the Final Shape. We fight it’s disciple in the raid.

It isn’t the winnowed/entity/voice but rather it works for it. It’s part of the “darkness race” that’s been hinted at for a while now but it technically isn’t the darkness itself. It and it’s species used to be a guardians like us till they turned to darkness and became the veiled statues. The 3D model that was leaked is it without the veil on. That is the terrible truth we will learn, that us wielding stasis and darkness sight has set us on a path to darkness that we can’t leave.
We’ve damned ourselves, not to hell, but to an even worst existence.
@@captainrelyk huh, I got the vibe that Witness and Winnower are 1 and the same. There’s Savathun dialogue where she says it seeks the final shape, which is nothing. I think the Unveiling is turning out to be bs. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Bungie did an amazing job with the Black Fleet. I am legitimately fearful of The Witness and The Black Fleet even though they aren't IRL

After all...we barely know shit about the Universe. We haven't discovered long distance/time space travel.
We don't know what could be out there and that's both comforting and scary at the same time.

i still cant go near the pyramid on the moon out of fear of it, ive tried to sword fly into it from patrol and i genuinely will just force quit the game when i start getting close, i think the pyramids gave me megalophobia
I mean, the events of Destiny start after the first manned expedition to Mars, and that hasn't happened yet. For all we know, all of this could happen in real life.
It could actually be irl for all we know. Quantum mechanics and strings and stuff could actually allow destiny to happen and the fact that not only these things seem to travel to different relalities, but were also literally seen in other Bungie games such as references in Marathon and a literal Pyramid warping reality in Pathways to Darkness... it's so creepy, sometimes I think what if bungie had a dimensional traveller in the dev team.
We aren't even fighting The Witness in the raid, we're fighting a Disciple of The Witness.
The Witness will arrive during or just before lightfall

I was wondering where I heard this theme before and if you go back 5 years ago to the Final scene of Ghaul dying and the traveler bursting out a ton of light. This theme plays for a few seconds.

Ngl but the design for the witness is cool but not scary.
To be fair though this is so far the first cutscene we have got of him and yet we can even see his mouth as it’s being covered by his suit.
If you guys feel scared of this enemy then that’s cool but like I don’t see the reason YET to be scared of him.
Eating planets, causing the collapse of countless civilizations before us, causing the Traveler to run from it for billions of years, that unibrow, the teddy bear eyes, taking our favorite Russian computer, creating the hive, that unibrow, creating the taken, that unibrow, being related to Megamind. I'd say those are good enough reasons to be scared.
Maybe for u but not for me plus if people are calling him mega mind than that just means he is not scary just because he moves planets is a threat to the traveler doesn’t mean anything to ME if he looks like an animated kids character I like the Smokey heads coming out of him he has a weird and very alien design but honestly I was more scared of the shadowkeep pyramid than this guy
