    This is what the Wii is capable of but few actually designed for it. Instead, most tried to port to it and blamed the Wii for the poor results. If most did what LucasArts did with Forced Unleashed, the Wii would have been better than most think. LucasArts did not 'port' Force Unleashed, they gave the content to a third party and they programmed the game for the Wii.

      the problem is the ps3 and 360 ushered in the era of middlewares and off-the-shelf game design that really didn't jive well with the wii's design philosophy at all. that's not to say the wii was a failure by any means as its like the best selling console of all time and it shows that people really care more about interesting and well crafted gameplay experiences than they do the latest and greatest. this game really didnt need to be a wii exclusive since it didn't leverage any of the wii's unique capablilities but it ended up being far more memorable than most other games in that generation and arguably one of the best ive ever played. so maybe limitation is the key to producing quality

    • @vr8652
      @vr8652 4 роки тому +7

      @@Cheesemonk3h limitation brings forth the greatest things. It shows you how far your ambitions can actually go. But in this case for Xenoblade Chronicles and the Wii in general per se, it's limits were exploited to bring classics into fruition. You'd hear all these stories about how games were developed during this era that go into detail about limitation bringing out creativity.
      The PS3 and 360 had fewer limitations, and you can see how many of those games can be seen as unimaginative or not "classic" feeling in the modern console era BECAUSE of less limitations. (For reference, Persona 5 can run on the PS3, think about that) The Wii gives off this 2000s vibe better than the other consoles, it embodies nostalgia and what "classic" is.

    • @Cheesemonk3h
      @Cheesemonk3h 4 роки тому

      @@vr8652 its because you couldn't just use unity or unreal engine on the wii. you couldn't just copy and paste assets from another project. especially because of how weak and how weird the wii was. the call of duty:world at war port on the wii was legit only half of the game and it barely worked. even the call of duty 4 port ran like shit. but the conduit? it actually looked good. it wasn't a very fun game, but it was crafted from the ground up.
      also, there was less expectation, which ironically tends to lead to better results. when you have middle managers breathing down your neck to appease shareholders, its hard to do anything memorable. way more stuff slipped under the radar on the wii

      It's not just a statement to how underutilized the wii was. Ah, the time when everyone made a huge deal about the sizes of maps. Monolith definitely caught on the discussion and made X, which absolutely dwarves the original game in sheer size and scope. Then they decided to return to the basics and make 2 more fragmented, and perhaps even smaller than the first game? But definitely denser in general terms.
    That's just another thing to appreciate in all three games, they're all different and unique, even though 2 does draw a lot of parallels with the original.

    This is not even the whole world,, Eryth sea itself is huge, which was only shown partly in this video, then you have the imperial city, After that the snow mountain, which is gigantic, after which is the sword valley. After sword valley comes teh big enemy base, then the fallen arm world on water, which is also sizeable place. After you've seen all this, comes the mechonis, the mechonis core too, huge places both and the mechon capital. Best part of all, these places that were quickly crossed running, are huge in many other directions too. Then there is the prison island too. X being 5x bigger than all this, yeah, I can see why people who have played it, tell me that it is bigger than skyrim, fallout 4 and witcher 3 combined.

      Do they even get a mount or such for the Wii version. I know it'd be alot easier to travel on the Wii-U X version, Seeing as the boost from the ship you'll get. But holy cow if you don't get a mount this'll such running from point A to point B and back @_@. Think of it as world of warcraft running without aspect of cheeta or a mount to use. UGH.

    • @YolmzWelra
      @YolmzWelra 10 років тому +6

      Once you have discovered a landmark you can fast travel to those from anywhere in the game. And since the loading screens are extremely short, it takes almost no time and effort at alla to back track in the game.
      One of the key points when progressing is to explore the huge areas, so there isn't need for a fast travel method in this game when you're progressing.

    • @Raptorduder

      Silver Zenith They have up to 25GB of space to jam into the game. I wouldn't dout they could make it far bigger then the first one. Most games that already been released barely make it up to the 18GB mark.

    • @golfer435
      @golfer435 10 років тому

      Raptorduder It's actually a proprietary bluray disc, so they have two 25GB layers to work with. Not one.

      Logan Hollis Then even better. So they have quite a flexible area to work with when dealing with a lengthy game or expanding the area of field in the map (unlimiting the the map walking area's. Like how WoW went from walking to now having the possibly to jump/fly into the littlest places.
