One of the most beautiful things about this game is when you stand high up on a cliff and look down at a place on the map, and realise, "I can walk there"
Just finished the game.
Game was so massive, it took me 80 hours to finish. Final Boss was definitely no pushover, even at high levels.
Wii GOTY as far as I'm concerned. It's just that good. Highly recommended to people wanting an RPG chalk full of content.
i really, REALLY respect the environment artists that worked on this game. outdid themselves. amazing sense of atmosphere in every single area.

I'm so happy that we got to see this game here in the west. A bautiful game to show some of the Wii capabilities that most developers never took advantage of.
I don't know if this will be a game people think of when we hear the name Wii 10 years from now but it sure was a worthy RPG to end it with.

This looks so beautiful it hurts. And for once, it looks like you can actually run and jump anywhere, instead of being blocked by a two inch tall fence of rocks guarding the edge of your skinny, little path.
I love how they made the field in proportion to the actual size of the Bionis and Mechonis.
This puts AAA titles to shame.

the wii is a godsend for smaller developers without Hollywood-like budgets. Who needs realistic graphics when you can make a beautiful game with amazing color composition with more gameplay content than any of those games on hd-consoles.

@wikum3 I think that it was fine how FFXIII was though. It may have been pretty linear but they made up for it with amazing, beautiful environments. You could look off into the distance and see beautiful detail in everything.
The beatiful thing is, the world isn't just vast. Rather, carefully designed and placed to be beatiful and immersive. Lots of things to see, and also many things that can make an adventurer gawp at.
I got this and dumped it(as in turned into a file) for my emulator (Dolphin). Amazing game. I'm trying to get as much as I can done on the first run through, and I'm at about 150 hours of play time o_o

imo its the best rpg since at least 10 years.
the advantage of an underpowered system is that it doesn't take as long to create original 3D assets - with superpowerful HD systems, asset creation takes ages as developers try to detail every pore on every leaf etc...that means you either get smaller games with less exploration (e.g. FFXIII) or bland environments which reuse assets a lot (e.g. Elder Scrolls)
This looks like it might be the last RPG in the mould of the classic PS2 days, where RPGS were both massive and artistic

This game's world is quite unlike anything I've ever seen on a console. It is huge! And by that I do not mean just bigger than most games, but really, really huge!
Sure, some things would look a bit more rough than they would have been if it had been an Xbox 360 or PS3 game, but the use of colour and the overall artistic direction of this game are among the very best on any system currently on the market.
I own an xbox and a ps3 (both bought second hand) but every time I coma home I just want to play my wii. I think games like this should remind the difference between making games to make money, like Microsoft and Sony do, and making them because you love what you do.
Most developers say the Wii hardware is limited, but I think the only thing that is limited is their programming knowledge/talent because even though the Wii can't do Xbox 360/PS3 graphics, it can sure do some great looking games. This game would be an example of one.

You definitely know what your talking about! Yes, it's really exciting to see so many awesome games being released on the Wii. There is a severe lack of JRPGs on other consoles.
If the Big 4 (Xenoblade/TheLastStory/Pandoras Tower/Dragon Quest) make it - I'd be dead happy. Skyward Sword is coming anyway. If they make it, that'd be a treat!
We are jrpg hungry as much as it gets this gen and this game looks absolutely stunning! Nintendo should localise this ASAP

I'm thinking I might just play this on an old CRT television when this game comes out in America. I'm getting such a nostalgic kick from watching this video, cuz it looks like an older game, even though it's new.
best JRPG this gen, nothing on PS3, 360 is even close to it.
Whoah, how does he run so fast and jump so high in some of the scenes? Is it mostly just sped up gameplay footage in those parts? Because I beat the game and I never did any of that kind of traveling.

@MegaZerofox Rumours say September 2011 in Europe. Nintendo confirmed two days ago that it's definitely coming to Europe in 2011. For USA, no news, and it wasn't even shown at E3, so my bet would be that it won't come out in the US, just like Monolith Soft's previous game on Wii : Disaster Day of Crisis.
I would easily confound this as a MMO. Really.

This looks better than alot of PS3/360 games, and a true example of Video Game art.
I finished it in japanese, more than 300 hours of gameplay including the extra missions, and i will do the same with the european version, i LOVE this game, and i wait for The Last Story, i finished that one three times. Best 2 games on the Wii.
my god...this game is like a combination of monster hunter, FF12, and phantasy star online thats been dropped into awsome juice. many didn't like FF12, but i LOVED the gameplay/battle mechanics, and MH needs no intro for how great that series is. this game alone proves EVERYTHING wii haters and biased journalists wrong about what they said the wii can or can't do...much like what metroid other m did. i can see reviews low ballin its scores when it comes to the US just like games like MH and RS2.
Seriously though, can't wait to play it. And with the graphics, who cares if textures blur up close and the character design and rendering is sub-par. Any self respecting Wii owner would not be bothered by slight graphical transgressions, especially after witnessing the art direction and beautiful and varied level/landscape design in this game. Besides, the modest visuals almost seem to reiterate the fact that seems to have been lost in the hype of HD gaming, that graphics do not make the game.

Here's how I see Wii's last year before Wii U : Zelda Skyward Sword/Kirby Wii/Last Story (Europe, confirmed by Sakaguchi and NoE)/Xenoblade (Europe, shown in English playable form at MCM Expo in London)/The Grinder/Dragon Quest X/Rune Factory Tides of Destiny (US).

Looks strangely like a fusion of Monster Hunter and Dark Cloud. If its close to either of them, I am so getting this. Plus, it looks amazing (graphically), for the wii anyway.

the graphics aren't technically that great. It's just that all of the environments are so freaking cool that it looks awesome. I think they sacrificed a lot of detail for draw distance, which was a good choice IMO because this game really benefits from it.

@SuperMagnum83 Haha, I played Zelda TP and I am now playing this game and I can tell you, that the world of Xenoblade is at the very least 30 times the size of TP and even more beautiful.

Honestly, SCREW NoA for not wanting to localize this beauty for the West. A game like this would be the PERFECT thing give the Wii a pulse again, till Zelda, not to mention a slew of other games, we probably won't be getting either. Forget Wii U, give us the carrots you've been dangling in front of our faces already, you assholes!

this is a fact that wii fans and TRUE gamers have been tryin to get people to realise for some time now. this game looks as good if not better then some first-gen 360 games...and i've read some reviews that said its 60-80 hrs long. now hows that possible for a piece of crap like the wii...maybe cause it was always capable of producing great visuals and huge maps in the FIRST PLACE but these devs have thier heads too far up thier butts to see that for the past 3-4 years.

@Rmagnusama Sadly... I recently played Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross right after it. I was absolutely in love. Both are now probably in my Top 5 favourite games of all time. Then, I look for quality JRPG's on the PS3 and I find nothing.
Whoa...As far as Wii games go, this might just be the apex.
This game is coming to Europe but not to the US... That makes me a bit happy because that rarely happens (I know, I'm a horrible person. I do feel a bit sad for you americans as well).
