In this lecture, Professor Zach Murphy will present on Hypothyroidism. We will discuss the pathophysiology, including the decreased production of thyroid hormones and its effects on the body's metabolic rate. The lecture will include a discussion on the clinical manifestations, such as fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, and constipation. The digital presentation will begin with the diagnostic approach, highlighting the importance of TSH and free T4 measurements. Finally, we will review management strategies for Hypothyroidism, emphasizing the use of levothyroxine to normalize thyroid hormone levels and improve symptoms. *7 minutes in and you've explained more to me than my Endocrinologist has in 18 months 🙌🏽
What a legend. I let out a chuckle when you said "chillin bro" as you explained the clinical presentations. It is the little things that show how passionate you are about what you do

Been missing ur lectures.... welcome back.... Great job... much appreciated... ❤❤
Absolutely love your videos! I have medically induced hypothyroidsm, it's been so hard to try and explain to new GP's that I need their help rather than them just insisting i go to my psychiatrist - Educating myself with your videos has definetly helped me better understand my body and what i can do to help it. Also super helpful when thinking about it in a veterinary context too! Ps. Also love seeing why my doctors had me going to all these different tests haha
Thank you soooo very much tutors of Ninja nerd, you guys are lifesavers....

I have a question if anyone could answer, why does the DIASTOLIC bp rise in case hypothyroidism?
Double check this because I’m not a med student but I think it probably is due in part bc hypothyroidism reduces renal flow which results in more fluid retention & therefor higher overall blood pressure (bc there is more fluid in the system). Also I think they have more salt too which also increases water retention and results in increased overall pressure
34:00 I’m dying 😂😂😂😂
Thank u ❤
chillin bruh
Thank you prof.
Please, I have a question about pretibial myxedema.
Is it specific for Graves’ disease? Or does it occurs in other conditions like hypothyroidism?
Because I was reading it and just mentioned in Graves’ disease
Yes both hypo and hyper (graves ) can have pretibial myxedema bc of
in graves
TSHrAb increase sensitivity of TSH to other organs like fibroblasts thyroid adipose tissues then pretibial myxedema forms
In hypothyroidism
TSH Is high and acts these organs ⬆️ and couse pretibial myxedema
I hope its useful 🫡
Postpartum thyroiditis is likely to be transient if only occurs once. But if it occurs after successive pregnancies/postpartum periods, each occurrence makes it less likely that full thyroid function will be restored.
These videos have a note.
WOW!
Pretibial myxoedema occurs in hyperthyroidism
Is it possible to talk about a little physiology before you delve into the disease itself? Like you would do in the retired videos. For example, talk about how TSH is produced and its function. It used to tie the entire thing together beautifully. :)
There is a physiology video in his earlier lectures with hos TSH is produced
